I don't know if the voucher thing is Direct-worthy, especially if it already exists elsewhere. It seems like Twitter drop content
It's exactly the kind of thing they would (re)announce in a Direct if they were talking about NSO already. And for other regions it's not like they have to say "they're back!", they can just say "available now, check the website for details." In NA that will coincide with a Twitter post and everything will point back to page on the website with the details.

wait a sec
Sources have also said that the release date for this remake is planned to be sometime in the summer of 2023 and that a reveal is possible during this year’s E3.
assuming the outlet/source is reliable, this would suggest Nintendo's got a June Direct in the works, no? then again, it's not as if Nintendo hasn't been the ruin of previous hot leak streaks in the past

If TotK was the last major release for the Switch then it would have been delayed to the Holidays, the fact that the game is releasing in May is a proof to me that Nintendo has another big game for H2.
And even without a major release, they are releasing 3 exclusive titles in the span of 2 months lol, I think they still have a ton of games to reveal for this year.

That could easily be announced on Twitter or a Partners Direct

Nintendo not being at E3 means they won't have a physical presence at the event which the news is about. They can very well have a Direct around that timeframe if it suits their marketing plans.

Lmao at Summers Game Fest being announced now
was it not already announced? I saw it on their site around the time of the initial tweet about e3, I think Geoff just smartly doubled down on their PR as the smart man he is knowing people would quote tweet it lolol

We serve doom here, sir.

We know that. E3 100% guaranteed a full direct. That’s the point of people’s despair.

right, I think people are antsy about them not doing a Direct, particularly in the context of Robinson's comment about Nintendo not having enough major releases to show

Also, Nintendo not having a booth is big news. That means they don’t feel like they have enough enticing games to even get space for themselves. This has never?? been done before. That does speak to what’s coming later this year. If a huge title was coming like 3D Mario they would get space for people to play.

WOw is it me or has this been the most depressing month to be a Nintendo fan with all the doom and gloom news, Fire Emblem Engage has been my only bright spot
I honestly have no idea what doom and gloom news you're referring too unless you're only talking about rumors in which case I just personally can't get worked up by rumors any more. I don't understand why people can't wait until official news is given to get an actual big picture view of Nintendo's plans. There's a direct likely in the next few weeks. What's the point of getting worked up over assumptions at this point?

For all the bad news happening now I blame @Raccoon for saying that Speculation isn‘t that exciting anymore.
I know you didn‘t say it in exact those words, I just want to make dumb jokes at the expense of other people sorry

I think it's weird they're allegedly bringing Baten Kaitos back but found the interest insufficient to remaster Xenosaga.

I guess the impetus may be coming from a different party. But still.

Lol was something really fixed minutes after being pointed out on here? Which one of y'all is Among Us
Well, it also went from having zero views and comments to having a bunch, which could have been flagged in analytics.

Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

I'm pretty sure I have said those exact words and I'm happier than a pig in slop at all these wacky developments

I may be stuck with the boring direct week but if everything around it is this zany I'll be a happy camper

I'm in the same boat. The hardware stuff and this really don't mean much for me. The e3 thing is whatever really. There could be a general, there may not be. We'll see what they announce at the next direct to have a better idea, I guess. Last june there really wasn't a need for a general, imo. There may not be this year either.

Still could have a partner direct, and last year's was great so that'd be fine. And I don't care to rehash the "no major/big games after Zelda" talk.

I suppose my E3 woes are helped by knowing I have my first post-covid PAX in a couple months and Nintendo will be there (couldn't make last year, it was mid anyhow)

Yeah all of the rumors are starting to get to me especially concerning new hardware but if it really is true that Nintendo is going to into a lull after TOTK when it comes to Major game releases then at least that would point to new hardware being on the horizon

even in 2015 Nintendo put on a brave face and then announced Bowser in Skylanders
Iwata and company was making decisions at that time. Also, this sets up for Switch 2 coming early 2024. With really no major titles this holiday, Nintendo won’t want to go long like that to Switch 2.

it's funny but also true. their systems were dying, their leader was dying, and it probably felt like there was a good chance they were dying. in retrospect, the inclusion of allusions to transition and "theme" of transformation underscored the mood

Bringing back Xenosaga means bringing back 3 games in total that haven't aged so well. And Takahashi is pretty busy with his own successful series.
I think it makes sense to let Honne worked on his own baby, it will cost less to remake/remaster Baten Kaitos than to work on the Xenosaga series.

Wasn’t VGC the one saying Nintendo had no games after Zelda? Have to kept that narrative up, so that thought process is basically nothing.

I think it's really bizarre that NONE of the major players are going to E3 and yet people are like "lmao must mean Nintendo has no games." Like... huh? It sounds to me like "insiders" just trying to push the same stuff they've been saying for months.

Btw Pikmin is a major release in my heart <3

TOTK being the last 20m+ seller on Switch is not shocking. Doesn't mean Nintendo isn't cooking ANYTHING for the next year. It sounds to me more like the big players just aren't interested in E3 anymore. Why pay the fees for that when Nintendo has demonstrated with Directs that they absolutely do not need to.

I dunno, hard to be depressed when you got Fire Emblem Engage, Kirby and Octopath 2 all out in a months span!

And it's really funny to suggest that if Nintendo doesn't have an upcoming 20m+ seller to show off, that means they won't bother doing floor space at E3. E3 2020 was cancelled and E3 2021 was digital-only, but Nintendo didn't have games like that in those years either -- so if not for COVID, am I supposed to believe they would have sat E3 out anyway?

I'd more likely believe that a combination of the uncertainty around the event, plus the fact that not every company is still super comfortable with in-person events in 2023, are reason enough for Nintendo not to have a presence, rather than this junk about their release schedule. Or Kit is right and we don't even know the full story about their involvement yet.
