Do we think that the new 2D Mario will get online?
It kinda worked after a while, and everyone needs a stable connection. Doubt that the whole campain would be playable in online (but again, it will probably be playable in local co-op so you will get limited on what could actually be seen with other 3 players on the screen). I think they will introduce some online type mode with the game and that's it.

I told them that info in confidence, and they just had to go and spill the beans. Sorry for the spoilers, y'all

According to Nintendo YouTubers, Nintendo's ENTIRE 2023 release schedule leaked... without providing any source.
It was based on a Blue Shell video discussing known leaks and rumors and speculating their timing in 2023/2024. The odd thing... the title and thumbnails were near identical to BlueShell's. Mike's video was just his own take on the Blue Shell opinion video. The use of "Leak" and such was very, very liberal.

It is what it is. Don't hate the player. Hate the game.

The recent trend of patent reporting has become exhausting, as well. Especially when the patent interpretation is wildly off-base. It's not even a good speculation base. It's just... nothing.

I want online play for the next 2D Mario, especially so if it resembles New Super. If 3D World can do it decently enough, no excuse for the 2D games not to.

Youtubers, please stop trying to predict Nintendo's first party release slate. We're literally getting a 3rd Kirby game in just 11 months and another Bayonetta game just 3 months after one. All bets are off, there are no patterns anymore.

Really good to see that everyone is nice and calm in here. Next week really feels like the start of newcomers' mass migration to the site as rumors start heating up - a national holiday in my book!

How much heat can one up?
Big "how do i shot web" energy with this line

That's the best part, when they try to describe patent but can't do it. Even if the description is somewhat detailed.

For real a lot of these Nintendo YouTubers are garbage. Blue Shell, I saw his pop up and I knew it was just another garbage video. Because being here I know the leaks and rumors in and out.

Blue Shell is actually okay. Not good, just okay. I'd say Nin10doland, Nintendo Prime, Mike Odyssey, and Switch Force are the worst when it comes to "rumors". Those channels are pure garbage. At least they can't ride off the back of Samus Hunter anymore.

Only Switch YT channel I follow is SwitchUp. No rumors or predictions, just a steady flow of great reviews, sales highlights and lists. They review more games than anyone else.

Yes it can be more.

j/k, having +20 headlines (half first party, other half third party) in a 40 minute direct is more than enough for me.
it's counterintuitive but I think you want fewer games

september had 43 games in it so they spent an average of a little over a minute on each, and the mode datum is obviously way worse

the games fly by so they feel like nothing, we need more time spent on each

Switch Sports was what was promised, Strikers however was just disappointing like all the Mario Sports titles on Switch so far.

I don't think Aces is disappointing. It's not as good as it could be, but it got a lot of characters people wanted to see, got a lot of solid updates that expanded the game in ways it needed to be expanded upon, and had the best gameplay I think the series has ever had that kept me super engaged. It needed more content, but it felt like a pretty solid return to form and a "service" early release done right. And it was so early in the Switch's life I could write it off as such too more easily. Especially after Open and Ultra Smash, it was a huge breath of fresh air and felt like righting the ship after a decade of bad Tennis games even if it wasn't perfect.

The problem with Super Rush was that its gameplay wasn't up to that level. Running to the hole in golf is the innovation for innovation's sake that was actually really not that fun or engaging outside of Battle Golf which was actually really fun but didn't get any updates. And Cross Country was truly awful as well, and I think the classic Mario Golf style was lost in the process. I think Super Rush had a chance to be great and overall 10 courses was a solid amount, but they kept things too simple to account for a boring as sin "run to the hole" mechanic that didn't work that well. And it was coming off the truly phenomenal in every way Mario Golf World Tour so the stakes were so much higher and it was so much more disappointing.

Battle League is where Nintendo blatantly didn't give a shit outside the animations and it shows. They rushed a product out to market to fill in a hole and told Next Level Games to barely support it. It didn't even get half the content Golf and Tennis really got. And to top it all off, it launched in the poorest state a game could for the whole series content wise and the base game was not as good as the classics. It's certainly fun with friends, but that's it and only because there isn't another Strikers game this side of the Wii. Stadiums were shrunk down to an almost laughably small and tight space, and the game was made in a more clunky manner and there was no content at launch, and none added through the games launch. It was literally just some great animation work on a very fun with friends exoskeleton that barely worked. I wanted to love it, but dear lord, it was the worst by far and Next Level deserved a much better opportunity to finally make a new Strikers game than this. It feels like the epitome of a game rushed through Covid woes to meet a 2022 World Cup deadline and fill in the release schedule.

I'd be a lot less critical of Mario Sports titles if they all had stellar gameplay at least. But only Aces has that crown unfortunately, while Super Rush and Battle League are the worst playing in their respective series.

If Mario Baseball comes back too, at least the gameplay only really can improve from the waggle fest that was Super Sluggers at least.

As we don't have anything substantial to discuss for now, a little hopium with the approval today of the Ace Attorney (逆裁) trademark in Japan:

Remember that this can means anything, including NOTHING.

Well, we don't need hopium for AA at all, the series is pretty much alive. No one doubts there will be more AA on Switch but the real question is what it will be. More remasters? Great AA 3? AA7? Investigations 3? (personally I hope it's not AA7. AA6 was insufferable)

Not to mention that often they go above the time they promised. Last Direct it was "roughly 40" and ended up being 45. Happens quite a lot.

And every time they say something along the lines of "will focus on Q1 games" and people think it means the Direct won't have big announcement but then Nintendo ALWAYS ends up announcing something unexpected that breaks the "focus on Q! games" rule.

It's the same circus every time.

I don't care if it can mean nothing, NEW ACE ATTORNEY LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOO

After how Samus Returns sold?
No.
If there hadn't been Rumors and people like Nate corroborating them I wouldn't have blieved in it.
It was pretty dark times for Metroid.
Official sales numbers for Samus Returns were never actually given but we knew that Nintendo was pleased with the sales because they described them as "firm" in a fiscal report.

This notion that Samus Returns sold like garbage needs to stop. Obviously it sold well enough for Nintendo to use MercurySteam again.

yes exactly that, and people still can't learn that. It's frustrating.
