Here are my predictions for the next direct

Show off:
Zelda
Pikmin
Kirby
Bayonetta Origins
New NSO Games
Hogwarts Legacy (it's surprisingly getting a switch version)
Next wave of Mario Kart tracks

Reveal:
Final Fantasy Tactics remaster
Skies of Arcadia remaster
Lord of the rings Battle for Middle Earth 1&2 double pack
Metroid Prime remaster
A new Resident Evil remaster/port for Switch
New Donkey King (show opener)
Ring Fit Adventures 2
I would not expect Pikmin. Nintendo generally waits until the Summer to follow up on any H2 reveals from the previous year.

February direct is almost always focused on announcing new content, rather than providing more info on previously announced content.

Nintendo will surprise us all with games like:

Lego - Mario
Super Mario Touchdown
Xenoblade Warriors
Battalion Wars 3
Star Tropics: Raider of the universe
Ice Climber Climate Crisis: Save the icebears
Disaster: Two days of crisis
Golden Sun Trilogy
Nier 3 exklusive

...im tired. I daydream already and should go to bed. Good night everyone :)
I know you're joking, but those first three sound legitimately enticing. We already have the Lego Mario toys, so expanding on it makes a lot of sense. Why we haven't gotten a Mario football game is beyond me and I would DIE to have Xenoblade Warriors.

This list kinda seems uneventful on the surface. But truly, this would have the potential to go down as my personal favorite Direct of all time.

Tears of the Kingdom, Pikimin 4, new Dokey Kong, new Ring Fit Adventure, Metroid Prime remaster, and

AND

SKIES OF ARCADIA REMASTER.

This is what dreams are made of.

I wish I could Yeah! my own posts

I have the kind of idiotic sense of humor where I think the height of comedy would be posting some asinine, unfunny bullshit, then immediately Yeah!ing it
You need a buddy system. @D36 and @hologram can reply to each other's posts and Yeahing it to infinity. Only you two will know, you're secretly Yeah!ing to your own posts.

Some sacrifices have to be made, sadly. But maybe they can work on both or V-2 won't have the whole team on it?
My intuition is that SMTV staff went back to Etrian Odyssey and it will be released this year with Nintendo's precious help. I can see Soul Hackers 2 team assisting on the next Shin Megami Tensei game now My guess is that we're not getting SMTV-2 but a new Devil Summoner - Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army or something like that

I know you joke but Lego Super Mario game makes so much sense I can't see how it hasn't happened already. Been thinking of when they'll do it ever since Wii U. There's a Nintendo produced Lego game even in City Undercover, not to mention crossover with every major media franchise possible.

Xenoblade Warriors is a matter of when in my mind. Now that they're done with Zelda and FE, either Xenoblade or Mario seems like the next logical step.

Golden Sun remasters is not something that out there either. I think it will happen some day. Emily already told us Nintendo cares about that franchise and is frequently looking for teams to make or remake games of their franchises(we can see that's true with Mercury Steam remaking Metroid 2 and WayFoward remaking Advance Wars).

I don't know much about Etrian Odyssey but I'd love if you were right and one did come this year! Would further diversify the library and more Atlus is always good.

I can see the next MegaTen in Switch being something entirely different too. Just hope it doesn't take so long.

Sure would be swell if with the NSO N64 update if it gets a mention during the Direct, that Nintendo not only restocked controllers but finally have alternate colours available besides grey.

Or if anyone can just sell shells of the controllers on Amazon like they do for custom Joy con colours.

I'd love Xenoblade Warriors but...... WHAT ABOUT KIRBY WARRIORS
It's a matter of time too!! Also Koei Tecmo/Omega Force/Team Ninja are super efficient with development, we did get Three Hopes 1.5 years after Age of Calamity, I can see Kirby Warriors coming one year and Xenoblade Warriors on the other

How many pages will this thread get when Direct is finally announced? $5 US eShop giftcard giveaway.

Let's have a little fun. Let's try to guess how many pages will this thread get when Nintendo Direct is finally announced (the moment the thread will close to be precise, so no new posts will be there).

This is something that every one of us can effect and it's not as boring as "Team January/Feb."

What are the rules?

You have to quote this post (so I can find you guess easily) and type the exact number you think the final thread page count will be.
You can send your guess until Monday, January 16th 3pm UTC. So that the final number cannot be guessed so easily (if we will get the last week January Direct).

The person who will quess the exact number or the nearest one will get the giftcard. If more people guess the exact number (it could happen lol) than one of these will be selected by random selection.

And you can edit your number until the end date. - January 16th 3pm UTC.

I agree and I do think that's what will happen, but keeping the Switch alive for the next 5-6 years could be a solution for the "fear" they have of releasing a completely different system.
They need to follow Sony aka Playstation 2 and release a Switch 2. And do a better job than Sony. Release a limited edition Switch 2 on day one. One can dream.

Sometimes I’m kinda lost in my toughts and I just imagined a mix between A Link To The Past / top down style with Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic rules; like character creation, classes (Thief, Knight and Force Apprentice), and with the ALLTP classics items working and behaving according to your class. Also with BioWare’s dialogues, morality and choices.

Now if any skilled romhacker could read my mind, please…

Could you share your ideas? It would be interesting to read.
I think seeing people like Kouichi Kawamoto (EPD 4 lead, 1-2 Switch, Labo etc) and also General hardware director for Nintendo Switch itself.

People like Aya Kyogoku (Animal Crossing), Nogami or Aonuma are also deputy managers of EPD so it would be somewhat fitting. But I know what they are doing here, these people are associated mainly with the series they are working on, while Koizumi/Takahashi have been in the spotlight ever since the Switch era. And it makes sense.

Nintendo should publish a Lego Xenoblade. You use the Lego pieces to build magic lightsabres, giant robots, things of that nature
Actually if they do a Xenoblade X2 I would love for them to go more Lego-like on the mech side. There were only like what, four frames to choose from in the original? And you could only stack weapons on them and paint them? Let us BUILD mechs. Modular shit! Like a character creator but mechs!

Yes, Lego should do this. A series based on organic and mechanical beings with magic abilities and elemental weapons, living on a giant titan on a massive ocean planet, and battling that titans' antibodies, weaponized AI, and masked mechs in a quest to save the universe. And 'Chronicle' should be in the name somewhere, hmm...

From my understanding of Team Maniax (SMT team) is that they received helped from the EO team (which is very small in comparison) but yeah I agree that they probably got back to the title they teased in 2018(!!!).

As for the SH2 team, I dont know how big they are, but I would not be surprised if they got the short end of the stick and turn to supp the next SMT, given that their 2 projects (TMS and SH2) did not set the world on fire.

wonder if we'll actually get some Pikmin 4 gameplay in the next direct or if that's something there saving for E3

The real key question - how many farming sims?
Considering none of the ones shown off/revealed in September minus Harvestella are out, realistically the only one we can expect to see is Rune Factory 6 (or whatever the next RF ends up being).

Do we expect the new Nintendo switch/ successor to have a new gimmick? Example Hd rumble? I expect them to expand on the hybrid formula with something new to catch the casual audience. Something out of left field would be an actual traditional home console launch that leaves the Switch concept behind.

Over at the hardware speculation thread, there were people saying that they'd want to see a second, detachable screen like a tablet that could function like a Wii U gamepad or a DS. Sounds very Nintendo-like, but I hope that if they do do something like that, it will come with as little compromise to performance as possible, but who knows?

Sounds like an interesting concept. They always have a new addition of some sort. Quite exciting, I wish I could keep up with that thread but it moves so quick.

Honestly, I'd just want Nintendo to expand on the HD Rumble and maybe give their controllers haptic feedback like with the PS5. I can kinda see them being more conservative with their next hardware and leave the innovation to peripherals like Labo. I know that's boring, but I mostly just want a performance boost. 🤷‍♂️

I think that thread has slowed down over the past few days with about 1-2 pages a day. Earlier, there was a conversation about the validity of the past several rumors.

That will not happen, second screen is done. Not to mention how the hell would it work on TV.
