I don't think it'll happen either, but hypothetically speaking, maybe something like Comcast? I dunno.....
The fact that they weren't able to explain the second screen on the Wii U makes pretty clear that they don't even want you to think about that system ever again, or resemble it with this feature.

Wasn't able to vote in the poll, but considering in the last 5 years major Directs would usually happen on February, and that there are no rumors, gonna go with February too.
As for the new system, I'm also one of those who hopes it's just gonna be a Switch 2. Why fix what ain't broken? I'm a bit tired of gimmicks, and frankly, even if I'm in the minority, Nintendo's hardware was always a bit faulty for me, so I'd like them to just do the same thing but sturdier.

Could somebody fly or sail to Japan or if you're in Japan hop on a bus to Kyoto, break into Nintendo, and photograph the single page Word document that's headed "Nintendo Direct February 8th 2023" and post the photo in this thread? Thanks!

The only one I could find was a New Confidential List Thursday January 26th Final Final - Copy - Copy (2) so I left empty handed.

New BS 4Chan Direct Leak everybody!

Not the worst BS 4Chan Leak I've seen tbh, and would be IMO a banger Direct.

February 8th Direct

  • Metroid Prime Remastered, launching in August
  • Mario Kart wave 4 showing
  • Porro, an isometric / top down puzzle story game coming this year, named after the main character of the game
  • Xenoblade Warriors, features characters from all games including X and Torna, will have it's own original story, no launch date
  • Final Fantasy XIII "deluxe" port, will probably be full priced and includes sequel games
  • Genshin Impact release window trailer for Summer
  • Gameboy / Gameboy Color for Nintendo Switch online
  • Port of Life is Strange 2, pretty straightforward..
  • Pikmin 4 trailer, still no release date
  • Trailer for Final Fantasy 1-6 pixel remasters with release date for April 7th
  • Advance Wars 1+2 release date set for March 10th
  • Cloud version of Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3.. this is supposed to be a big surprise however they don't have a release window
  • Dark Souls 2 port coming in the fall, not a cloud version
  • Release window trailer for two Switch spinoff Tomb Raider games, both coming in the fall
  • Xenoblade 3 DLC Wave 4 Trailer
  • Quick look at a bunch of games coming, mostly already what's been shown but also includes Minecraft Legends, Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Outer Wilds, Metal Slug Tactics and Octopath 2
  • Another trailer for Bayo Origins
  • Show closes with the story trailer for Zelda which is still launching in May.

Hands up everyone who has been on the internet for too long and initially read the name of the third item wrong.

Also DS 3 Cloud would disappointing kill me. If someone was able to native port the Witcher you could do so with DS 3.

On all fronts this is so boring and re-release heavy that I'm sure many people will lap it up for doom-posting. Things would be dire if Nintendo were leaning on third party re-releases this year.

Xenoblade Warriors does now feel like it's only a matter of time to me, but a game that small (commercially speaking, no offense) isn't the kind of announcement that would warrant a 'no release date' reveal; it'd be revealed when Nintendo and KT are sure it's not all that far off, like Age of Calamity and Three Hopes.

Porro is a nice curve ball, and is actually the kind of thing I'd like to see at this stage. Really, they should have called this Pokio, and described it as a Mario Odyssey spin-off built around playing as a Pokio; just as Captain Toad span out of 3D World.

Xenoblade Warriors makes this kinda believable since Nintendo have doubled down on those despite first FE Warriors' failure.

I don't think they would announce Metroid Prime remaster now and have it released in August. August seems like an easy guess and not actual info.

Too good to be true overall but not that crazy. A fake but a decent one.

Porro in spanish is a type of drug

Today is the DAY.

Where we all realize the vanity of all our hype and give into the nihilistic cyclical despair of no Metroid.

Outside of metroid, it sounds underwhelming enough to be real lol

Finally, someone actually thought of adding a new IP in one of these. Kudos.

I don't think we'll get the remaining DS games in either way. Seems like From has forgotten about Nintendo (don't know how that's even possible with Switch being very close to be the best ever sold system in japan).

the Dark Souls releases depends of the publisher, Bandai Namco. And everyone knows how Bandai Namco has a random ports schelude for Switch.

I don't think it's FROM who's "to blame" here, they just do what they want to. And it's not like they would be the ones working on possible ports.

It's ... sadly ... on Bamco again as they're the IP owners. If Bamco would want DS 2 on Switch, there's no one who could stop them.

As i said, bamco and their random ports schelude. Maybe we get DS2 a lot of years later, like with NNK2 or Digimon World, maybe we get that game the next month

Well if they need motivation, i would buy it Day 1. Day -1 if it's the SotfS release with all three DLC packs on the cart.

Same goes for DS 3.

Me too, but I wouldn't be surprised if they went the Luigi's Mansion 3 route: show nothing now and release date and big trailer at e3. Unless it releases in early Sept or earlier
Yeah, but since this is Pikmin I think Miyamoto will be all in and will push into showing more. If they are waiting till E3 it will be dissapointing since Pikmin will no near sell as well as LM3 so it's absence until E3 would hurt the game imo.

I'm still convinced any "leak" for a direct in Feburary specifically is fake if they don't mention Splatoon 3, since that game is getting DLC with a new season March 1st. There's no reason they wouldn't include a trailer for the new season at that point.

I honestly think if we get a Xenoblade Warriors, it will be after Xenoblade 3's dlc is finished, especially if it features characters from previous games.
The dlc promo image for XC3 features the swords from Xeno 1 and 2, and considering how 3 ends, it's entirely possible that we could see Shulk and Rex in Xenoblade 3's standalone story dlc, and I feel that MonolithSoft would want to save the crossover of all the characters for their dlc first, before it being in a Warriors spinoff.

The thing with all these 4chan lists is that they try to predict 3rd party announcements but only get like 1/4 of all the titles shown. Then they go all in with 1st party ones since that's better to come up with.

Yes, Lego should do this. A series based on organic and mechanical beings with magic abilities and elemental weapons, living on a giant titan on a massive ocean planet, and battling that titans' antibodies, weaponized AI, and masked mechs in a quest to save the universe. And 'Chronicle' should be in the name somewhere, hmm...

There is a single piece of fiction that I love more than Metroid.
And that thing is BIONICLE! 2001-2010 was the greatest time period in human history.

They also miss stuff. The Harvest Moon: A wonderful Life remake was announced at the last direct, and still doesn't have a release date besides "Summer 2023," so I'm pretty sure something like that getting a date is a shoe-in for the next direct.

It's especially hard with indie games because you're truly just throwing a dart out of a plane and hoping it something even remotely close to real

LEGO Mario as this summer's Mario spin-off would be pretty interesting. I'd love to see something new or unusual, other than the sports sub series, given it's a big year for Super Mario.

New Super Mario World this Christmas; LEGO Mario this summer; Mario vs DK collection on the eShop. Captain Toad 2 also somewhere somehow.

Captain Toad 2 is literally my dream game. But given the Tokyo hirings I really doubt it happening, don't see any other team doing it.

After a while without reading this thread, I finally clicked on it, and the first post I saw was someone calling GameXplain a communist.

As you might have guessed, I was utterly confused.

Talking about FromSoftware and Nintendo reminds me that Metal Wolf Chaos didn't come to Switch when it was remastered, which is just... weird. It's not like it would have been a particularly high profile title, seeing how its main claim to fame is that it's an over the top "AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!!!" game developed by a Japanese company, but, again, its absence was just bizarre.

It's funny because to me making up 3rd party announcements comes across as way easier; there are so many games that could have come to the system but haven't yet that you could compile a few of them, pair them up with one or two "<insert company here> is making a new <popular franchise> game for Switch as an exclusive (temporal or not)" and you're done.

Wait, they remastered Metal Wolf Chaos??
Yep.

I mean, it wasn't done in-house by FromSoft, of course, but yeah, it happened. It was released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and I recall more than a few "Switch confirmed weaker than OG Xbox" jokes back when it was announced that it wasn't coming to Switch.
