Oh baby now you're speaking my language. I still think XII will be a while but they gotta show III soon so it can still release on February 10th #alwaysbelieve

They did state we would be getting more news for 3 2d-hd remake coming in the new year. Unless I missed something, nothing has yet been revealed.

I just still go for the idea that it sounds pretty foolish to wait til possibly February to talk about the likes of Bayonetta Origins some more.

Like great, you gave it the "grand stage" that was the TGAs, last month. Now, what? You still got some that think it's an indie title, and others that are balking at the idea it's a full-priced release. Hell, even I'm merely guessing at it being an overhead Zelda-like, for lack of any further info.
devil's advocate, due to twitter they can cover anything at any time

with any luck elon will finally unplug something critical and it will die, making nintendo speculation far more interesting

I don't mind Nintendo having relatively predictable windows for the 3 major presentations in a year; surprises in between - and surprises in the Directs themselves - would be grand.

But let's face it; if we're plugged into these threads we're reducing our own capacity to be surprised.

what I often forget is that the direct threads came from the 2018 mini and were revitalized by, of all things, the pandemic. this sort of "any day now" hype thread came from a period of genuine uncertainty, and while it's what I've grown used to and become nostalgic for it's not better than news coming regularly.

And that's the thing. A year ago, I would've agreed to this overall notion that a "Twitter drop" was always an option. But the "Elon era" of Twitter is much more volatile, and who knows how much longer it'll be a feasible option for Ninty to continue advertising on?

We ever got confirmation that they really did pull out advertising entirely back in November?

If Nintendo do withhold a Direct I hope somebody finally cracks open someone else's head and feasts on the goo inside

All it will take is a new rumour to pop up and rekindle the thread. Was there any follow up to the Reddit leaker as to the “primed and ready” comment? No timeline was given with the statement.

I hate to ruin the magic but these aren’t, “Twitter drops,” Nintendo just puts out a video on YouTube and promotes it through other platforms. I guess people associate them with Twitter because it’s the social media platform that’s updated the most, but Elon Musk isn’t gonna change the trajectory of Nintendo’s news output

I think it’s fun to just talk about Nintendo’s future in these threads and also use them to guess/react to the Twitter drops in addition to the Direct drops.

I think the important thing to keeping them reasonable is to cross out days quickly that you know won’t have anything. Like Wednesday morning this past week I knew Nintendo was done for the week, so I’m just kind of hanging out with the thread until Tuesday since Lukas said Monday is a Japanese holiday.

If the thread is all hype, all the time, it gets super exhausting and less fun. We have a good vibe going so far in this thread, so let’s keep it going.

I think Twitter drops is fair to say since not everything Nintendo promotes/announces is a video. They also have specific series Twitter accounts that share / promote info. But yes trailer drops will continue on Youtube even if Twitter implodes.

I just like talking about my hobbie.

I don’t care what is coming.

I don’t care when it happens.

I like to just post and clear my head. Video games are fun. Very funny memes sometimes. And talking about something you’re excited about makes me happy. I feel some take these threads to personal at every level and forget it’s just video games. Hungry for any news and questioning why Nintendo isn’t tweeted.

Direct hype around here and before that, on era/gaf, isn’t as much fun because after a short time, It becomes serious. And the fun always becomes secondary to a lot of folks. And sometimes, it stops being about fun and gets overall mean.

Which is a shame. And perhaps it’s just me in the end. The Christmas break here was really relaxing during my rough work schedule. Just some funny posting and vibes

I think the “Nintendo is getting too predictable” sentiment is a bit of recency bias. 2022 had more normal sequels than usual for Nintendo (though it still gave us a 3D Kirby game and a Wii Sports follow-up). But did anyone honestly think the Switch would get stuff like Metroid Dread, New Pokémon Snap, a new IP from Platinum, Famicom Detective remakes, or a BOTW-themed Warriors game? They still do unexpected things, last year was an outlier if anything.

Also maybe we would have more surprises if stuff wasn’t getting leaked all the time..,.

I can't vibe with this when the leaks are boring

Metroid Prime port? F-ZERO GX port? Casual game that will never see the light of day? Hardware that will never see the light of day?
Agreed. Leaks that tease actually interesting stuff can carry speculation for ages.

There's a reason why pretty much everything from the Capcom/Nvidia leaks from three years ago, like Rockman Taisen, for example, still inspires quite a bit of pondering, but remasters of Prime and GX don't warrant nearly the same type of thing, despite being things whispered about for almost the same amount of time.

None of the Directs threads could ever relive the energy of January 2018 (even Nintendo got involved lol) and last year June ending with Partner Mini and then "sure hardware in July" and then waiting till September with over 700 pages. These 2 will always be top notch.

I see the wrong team is now in the lead. How unfortunate. Was tied last I was in here.

Just wild speculation in here or any solid rumors around a date?

I'll def agree with you that in terms of inspiring hype, most remasters are sleep. It'd have to be something HUGE like Ribbit King...

Big budget yet true to the source material and not bloated Heidi game when? Just chilling with the goats, going to Frankfurt sometimes?

They are announcing Splatfests on Twitter
Yeah but he said "once Miiverse comes back"
And once Miiverse comes back, they'll announce Splatfests on Miiverse.

Actually this may be my new favorite hype-hill to die on. Nintendo will bring back Miiverse and ditch twitter. Fuck Elon Musk. 😁

If they are ports, totally agree. But do we have anything saying they’re ports? Pretty sure insiders have indicated Prime definitely isn’t a port, and not sure I’ve seen anything specific on GX. If GX comes out unchanged I don’t feel like it’d land well outside of NSO.

Also love the new pfp and matching coloring.

Edit: 100% agree not vibing with the hardware stuff tho

objection your honor, old shit pedantry

it's all old shit. old shit is good and I very much want to have it but it isn't interesting at all

Also love the new pfp and matching coloring.
but thank you

A Mini next week would make a fair bit of sense, since it lets Nintendo and third parties give some smaller updates and announcements to fill out the schedule pre-TotK. And also lets them not have to show any more of TotK until later, like March.

But I’m still on nothing until after FE.

Yeah unless it's specifically an old fave or a game you've been dying to play but didn't have the platform, simple remasters just aren't hype. Other exceptions are first-time localisations, Famicom Detective Club was the best announcement of its Direct 🦍

There's absolutely no chance we go until March without seeing more of TotK. No shot. That would be pretty terrible marketing for Nintendo standards.
