Is this thread actually all that slow compared to usual? We're in one of the slowest times of year for news, now that the September Direct and followup events have all happened. There's not going to be much of anything in the way of news until the Game Awards, most likely. The only other time of year I can think of that's similarly quiet is like... July? Or maybe late December.

We can all talk about SMTV and BDSP soon, but it's slim picking for news for a while.
There are too many games to play and too many great threads on this forum! I don’t have to hide in here anymore!

Speaking of which I poked into… another forum to see news from the oculus/Facebook connect and quickly found a thread discussing the “worst switch sequel” full of answers like LM3, BoTW and FE:TH. The best of us have all truly left ☠️. I left a parting message in that thread and am moving on lol

It does feel like there’s nothing to speculate on lately. The Switch Pro rumors have seemingly died, all of Nintendo’s 2021 games are announced and either released or will be soon, and we know a lot about their 2022 lineup.

This time last year we had nothing to talk about except Hyrule Warriors and the fact that Nintendo’s 2021 lineup was a complete and total mystery.
Currently it's a lot like 2018, IMO. We know all the games releasing the rest of the year, and we also know a lot about the next year, just with few to no release dates. We need an early 2022 Direct to do what the February 2019 Direct did: Lay out the year, give a lot of dates, and announce some new surprises like Astral Chain and Link's Awakening.

We largely know what to expect from Nintendo at the end of the year. This time period is probably their most consistent. Direct in September. Maybe some smaller presentations scattered in there. Holiday releases. Game Awards. Indie presentation. There's not much to speculate because he basically know when to expect something new. Discussion will pick up once we get closet to the Game Awards.

Exactly. We'll have the usual Game Awards hype uptick (followed by, most likely, the usual 'Game Awards didn't announce much of anything' hype deflation), the several weeks of slow nothing due to the holidays (and maybe Indies), and then the REAL hardcore speculation time begins: #TeamJanuary, when will Nintendo make their first move of the year, etc. The early part of the year is the wild west for Nintendo news.

It’s ironic that I find myself missing the times when speculation is rampant. Right now we’re swimming in actual games we can actually play.

Don't worry, I feel like 2022 will be a BIG year for speculation. Things like BOTW2, the Pro, etc. are going to be very hot topics all next year

This site is absolutely not slow for a forum in 2021, lmao. Y'all are just spoiled from Era, trust me. Most other discussion boards on the internet are lucky to get ten new posts a day.
Hell, I'm in Discord servers slower than this message board.

The jousting Knight boss in LM3 is poorly designed. I’ve had to look up how to actually damage him both times I’ve done this fight. There’s barely any sort of indication of what you’re supposed to do. Once you know what to look for, it’s simple. LM3 is not a hard game. It’s just weird that in a game full of clever and well-designed boss fights, there’s one that’s so obtuse I had to look up the solution not once, but twice.

look I’ve been trying not to mention the old place but there’s this “Gameplay is King” is a Pervasive Lie thread that is giving me severe brain worms

just the level of vitriolic discourse is making my head spin

I replied in that thread. I just don't get how for something called a "video game" that "gameplay" isn't the most important aspect of it. If you care about graphics and presentation more than gameplay, you are better off watching a movie or TV series.

I haven't finished LM3 and it's been awhile since I've played it, but I do remember having similar issues with that boss.

I feel like I have that "how am I supposed to know what to do" issue every now and then in games that aren't particularly hard. I don't mean that as a knock on them, it's just how things go for me. In harder games like Metroid Dread, knowing how to damage a boss isn't the problem, but avoiding attacks and not dying is.

I mean what’s Koei-Tecmo’s next switch partnership? We got MUA3, and HWAoC, what’s next Xmen Legends 3?

Just wait until a new Kid Icarus, Custom Robo or (Realistically) anything Xenoblade is announced, I'll keep this thread running single-handedly :coffee:
Yeah!ing this post in support of Custom Robo and it'll be you and I keeping this thread alive with H Y P E

Star Fox Adventures 2
I can't find a way to copy your quote into my existing reply on mobile so I'll commit the cardinal sin of forums with a double post:

I unironically am in favour of StarFox Adventures getting a sequel just for more Dinosaur Planet content

I feel kinda weird (in a good way) knowing @Brofield and @Suswave are just a few hours away from me

When do we have the FamiBoards meetup (post pandemic obviously)
(as long as y’all give me a couple years for the HRT to bump up my gender ambiguousness to true shred abyss levels then it’s a solid “maybe” from me)

video killed the gameo star

that’s right Chris Pratt I’m looking at you ya sick fuck

what am I even on about anymore

oh yeah I’m finally getting bloodwork done to start low-dose HRT so that’s exciting

did I say that already?

I’m all over the place in tiny text today

:I at era talk.
you're new, right? I don't know of that would make era talk better or worse

Raccoon is right, this thread is definitely slow. On one hand I get it, because the community used to only have one thread and now has an entire board, so our General Discussion thread is bound to be slower than it was at the old place, but on the other hand, it sucks sometimes seeing this thread not moving at a good clip.
I didn't even mean the thread; the whole board is slow. I don't really think that's a bad thing but it's made frustrating when people are still talking about fucking resetera

to be fair, "video" gets one more letter and syllable. what really doesn't matter is sound

I specifically hate hearing about dumb things random people said on ResetEra. people say dumb shit here, maybe if you replied to them instead of reading era the site wouldn't be so fucking slow
I think I’ve maybe been doing too much replying to dumb (and good) shit with massive amounts of dumber (not gooder) shit

I feel this thread moves at a decent clip. Plus, we've hit the end of the year, so there's no real Directs coming up and all the games have dates. Outside of a trailer for upcoming games and GOTY awards, video game news is kinda wrapped up for the year. So it's not entirely surprising that discussion has slowed. Once we get some more news and stuff like BDSP hit shelves, we'll have more discussion I reckon.

Excuse me but calling them videogames is a condescending and reductive. It makes them sound like they are for babies. Us adults prefer to call them E-toys.

Well we've already done the XC2 thing to spice up posting rate a bunch so it's time to switch things up with another old favorite

Who's your favorite Three Houses lord and why are the other two war criminals

Splatoon 2 is utter shit. Every session I had, one or more people were warping around, had super bullets that killed you in one hit and the tickrate was even lower compared to the first one, which made things worse. The games constantly felt unfair, cause the underlying tech fucked you over.
And no, I wasn't the problem, since I used a wired connection, have stable and high up- and download rates and my friends can attest the same. Splatoon 2 was shit and behind standards for online game even in 2017
Wow, sucks you had so many problems. I have well over a thousand hours into the game, and while there were issues in some matches, of course, I never run into severe issues consistently like that. But dang, such a great game, wish it played better for you.

Now that Advance Wars is delayed, BDSP is the last new release of the year for me. That’s.. kind of a relief! It’s been a very busy year for me, between all the amazing Switch games and the birth of my first kid. One of those might be more important than the other, haha.
Hey, kid. We can’t all be Metroid Dread, ok?

I just saw an ad for Dread during Thursday Night Football!
I’m a massive Packers fan, so I was watching. It makes my night to see a couple of my favorite things together! I’m so wired now, though, that I’m going to have a hard time getting to sleep.

to be fair I feel like you’ve now surpassed the rest of us as the person who has mentioned the old place the most in the past several hours

but I absolutely started it and deeply deeply regret it

culpability. what is my penance, o lord @Raccoon ?

also here’s me saying a Nintendo video game thing:

I’m cracking up so hard at how Pokémon Legends Arceus is being all old-timey about literally everything and has suddenly dropped in a fucking antlered smartphone as a game mechanic

honestly I’m with @Raccoon

I would rather hear about Samushunter than whatever the fuck is going on over at the Diaper Dumpster dot com (this is what I now call era)
no wait don’t invite that evil here!!!

we can just not do either!!!!!!

god I’m so fucking sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!

My two cents?

For me personally, 90% of my Nintendo discussions on ERA was in the general thread. I rarely went into OT's and I certainly stayed out of the news and direct threads. Now I am all over the place on this board so I don't post nearly as much in this thread (but my post count is still scarily high).

Like some of you have said, people are playing games right now and the rumors are next to nothing. We aren't expecting any directs for at least three months. Once we get into January there will be a lot more speculating going on in regards to 2022 and hopefully we can get back to endless pages of fake Zelda titles. Not to mention hardware rumors and speculation should really heat up in the months to come.

Until then, I'll keep posting here and have fun!

you're new, right? I don't know of that would make era talk better or worse

Relatively new. It makes it worse. It's understandable and I've honestly no right to tell people not to vent when it's a important topic to them.

Here's three minutes of kirby noises.

Same here, except for me it'd be if a new (or old, actually) Chrono game was announced. Yall think I post a lot now? Shit. 😂
I'm gonna end up being like Boz except my calling will be "any chrono."

honestly I’m with @Raccoon

I would rather hear about Samushunter than whatever the fuck is going on over at the Diaper Dumpster dot com (this is what I now call era)
I would... uh... not, actually? Samushunter really busts my vibe for some reason. Like the stuff at the old place is ignorant crap yeah but SH exhibits a particular type of arrogance that gets under my skin and wiggles.

I don't think we necessarily need to go fast, we're not Sonic after all.
I know my avatar is Hella Kyoot Sonikku but I actually like this chilled pace, because I can work for a while out in the shop when I need to and come back and not be way behind. Actually I literally just did. Btw do yall know how many different gearboxes there are to drain on a Skyline GTR?
a fuckin bunch

So, due to that video analysis of Dread, I decided to give a shot at the hard mode. So far it’s good. I’m maybe at the half point of the game and si far only died a couple of time because emmies.

Of course the second half is the harder one.

Yea , i’ve frequented forums where there are literally hours between posts across the entire site . I also think this thread has certainly not been slow considering nintendo news/talk is spread out across the the whole forum and the next nintendo direct is still months away . even tga, something that potentially could have kept folks talking a ton usually has either been made its own thread or especially this year without smash isn’t gonna be talked about as fervently.

Let’s just INSTEAD TALK ABOUT NEW NINTENDO RELEASE AND GAME OF THE YEAR CONTENDER

PIKMIN BLOOOM
F4j0arW.jpg

oh my god you de-bloomed the thread
Don't worry, I re-Bloomed the thread

Pikmin Bloom is pretty rad actually. I like how it requires much less attention than Pokemon GO. (It's basically a fancy pedometer)
