Nah, I'm looking forward to it too!!.. Just started playing again (the DLC) and unlocked the master cicle...I love Hyrule Warriors so much.... although I think I like the first one better. Adventure mode is just so great with those Zelda themed maps.... so cool
I was waiting to see what’s all in the dlc before I consider getting it

The textures, maybe. Still working on that (just pulled off a speed running trick for the third time today, hopefully this time I have enough items to get to that room).

The reflections are 100% missing though.
Fairly certain it is just an emulation glitch. From looking around the textures are supposed to look like that when Link does a spin attack in that room.

The left image there is Wii U, not Nintendo 64. I can tell by the darkening filter and the 480p resolution (Oot was 240p on N64). Wii U had the fog but still messed up with a bunch of other graphical stuff like the water.

That Twitter user is talking out of their behind.

Has anyone else reached the Water Temple and taken screenshots of it in non-JP versions? It's kinda sad seeing so much reporting of websites and no one bothering to use their own footage for it.

Sure. So why do supposed screenshots of OG 64 hardware exist where the water looks like that while Link is idle?
I can only imagine they aren't actually taken on an og 64, or I'm wrong. I'm sure some definitive info will come out soon enough.

I don't trust any of you. How we even know that an N64 version of Ocarina of Time even exists? I'm just saying, I've never seen Link and Hitler in the same room before.

That screenshot isn't from the original Japanese version either lol, it's from the WiiU VC
Not sure if trying to cull negativity with misinformation will be worth it in the long run
Whoops, I had no idea.

I guess Jersh will be the one to answer this definitively!

I think people should stop splitting hairs on a debate of an objectively poor product. Like, if you are enjoying it, then cheers for you. But going into these discussions of 'well actually in version 12.4 of the Japanese only release of 1998...' is kinda missing the point.

Crazy how misinformation can spread like this still. Especially when they were supposed to be correcting misinformation that turned out to not be misinformation haha. No wonder people get confused.

Yeah, that tweet is, and it's clear as day due to the dark filter. The tweet I posted a while back doesn't have the dark filter:

I've been thwarted yet again, this time by not moving King Zora and... the lack of the Goron Bracelet.

I think I need to play legit up to moving King Zora, unless I find some skips in the Water Temple itself. I'd probably almost be there by now if I'd been playing normally this whole time lol

Finding obscure skips is way more fun though, I'll grant you that.

So the Mega Drive emulation is excellent and the N64 emulation is fine. Minor frame drop or two on Yoshi, zero issues on Star Fox, Ocarina's relative lack of fog is something I noticed, but I didn't notice input lag from what I played. Maybe more noticeable in combat, if it's even a thing.

Anyway, I'll probably be doing some Mega Drive stuff first. Mean Bean Machine calls to me, but cinema with friends for tonight.

I'm doing a Nintendo 3DS system transfer, and I'm being greeted by cute Pikmin moving software one-by-one. I love how quirky Nintendo used to be with menus and processes like this. I hope Switch 2 brings some of this stuff back.

Yeah like... even if the textures truly are supposed to be different, the water is still supposed to look like water, not like solid marble floor. The whole point of that room and the way it's structured is that you can see Link's reflection in the water up until you cross the island in the middle, at which point Link has no reflection anymore and when you inevitably turn back to the island (because the doors are locked) you find your reflection ready to fight you. Having no reflections in this segment just misses the whole point and it's impossible to believe it's an intentional change. Fact is the emulator isn't properly replicating some visual effects, like fog and reflections, that the original had. That is poor emulation. It's fine if stuff like that doesn't bother you but as it stands it's worse (at least when it comes to Zelda) than what we already had with the Wii virtual console.

I looked at the zelda speed running website and every skip within the water temple revolved around skipping the longshot... and therefore the room I'm trying to get to.

I can kinda only laugh at this point.

That game is another case of NIS not releasing a PS4 version outside of Japan lol
This and Disgaea 6 are sooo weird to me. Like, hey, I couldn't care less if they're on PS or not (I only want more Ys anyways, lol), but I'd love to know the reasons for doing it like that. Like, were PS4 sales as of late that bad ww?

People need to spend less time looking at how bad OoT looks in NSO and instead use that time PLAYING WINBACK!

So true. Winback is secretly one of the most fun games on N64 NSO. Sin & Punishment is amazing too.

Any predictions on the metascore for Mario Party Superstars?

Mario Party is kind of a weird one to predict the scores for since enjoyment of it is very subjective, but I'm going to guess 85

Extremely lukewarm take.

2D-HD Games are gorgeous and we need more of them.

Somewhat more hot take.

Triangle Strategy is legit fun cheek-in-tongue name.

Alright: I don't need the bow to get the longshot, which means I don't need the Goron Bracelet - I just need to move King Zora (unless I learn no iron boots strats, but that'll probably take me longer than just doing it normally lol).

But to get to King Zora I do need bombs... or bombchus. Bottom of the well it is (and this is a skip I've actually done before, thank goodness)!

I'll be super super impressed if it's higher than 80. Non-Kart Mario spin offs just haven't been reviewed that well since... Awhile. I mean, Tennis, Party, Golf, etc all were on the mid/high 70s on Switch era.

But maybe this game just delivers by having what fans want most and online at launch.

Square enix wants to know your location
I sorted my Switch game collection by publisher the other day and Square was the largest group under Nintendo themselves so I think they probably already have my location. 😂
Plus I have Chrono Trigger on my phone so Square literally knows where I am at all times

I genuinely enjoy the (Project) XYZ names, haha. Sure, they're super basic, but that's exactly what makes them so charming to me. On point, no fluff, you know what you're in for, heh.

Winback has its own problem. You can't save the game natively. Sure... Save States exist but normal saving should have been included.
Is that a Controller Pak issue? I really wish they had hacked together some way for the rumble AND controller paks to both be “enabled” at once. Seems like a pretty big oversight.

I think I was the only kid I knew that actually owned a controller pack and I used for...Gex I think? Not sure why some games used it. I'm guessing to cut down on costs for storage directly on the carts?

They're both tied to the accessory port on the controller so getting both to work simultaneously is probably not possible on a technical level. Maybe a hotswap feature can be patched in where it swaps them on save/load screens would be possible IMO.

The only N64 game I remember not being able to save anything was Tony Hawk Pro Skater. It really sucked not having a controller pack.

I'm pretty sure there were sports games that had the same issue but I never played actual seasons with teams, just exhibition matches.

Sorting by publisher is seriously interesting, I find.
Like, right now there are 20 games installed on my OLED, and I'd go as far as saying these are my personal top 20 on the platform so far overall.
Of those games, 13 were published by Nintendo, 1 Bamco, 1 Capcom, 1 Motion Twin, 1 Supergiant Games, 2 NISA, and last but not least 1 Square Enix.

Admittedly, 2 of the Nintendo titles were developed by S-E teams (Octopath, DQ Builders), and another 2 by Koei Tecmo (FE Warriors & HW:AoC).

Well the head of NISA also had a public spat with Sony lol

But I think the gist is that sales are getting to the point that if Nintendo is willing to give a deal you take it.

So if we give NSO Expansion about 24 hours to sort the misinformation and nonsense, what are the confirmed issues with the N64 emulation, and what is technically feasible to fix if enough resources are spent on it?

I'll be honest I'm seeing a lot of tweets back and forth showing screenshots but I still can't get an idea of what's legitimately bad and what's using flawed methodology. Has anyone even yet hooked up an N64 to a capture card?
