I got lost after getting a powerup in Dread again and I’m just going to shelve it for now. Might restart my save because I’ve never been this bad at a Metroid game before. I want to go back to the Castlevania Advance Collection and see if I can’t finish Circle of the Moon this weekend.
Oh what's getting you lost? I generally found that the game gave you a good idea on where you needed to go and where you needed to come back to later. I wouldn't mind helping out a little

Maybe a little late for this contribution, but I like the idea of monthly general discussion threads. Just feels like a nice demarcation line between discussions.

So I started the evening by causing my grill to catch on fire burning all of the chicken and somewhat less importantly the hair on my right hand.

Then I probably or nearly get salmonella because the damn meat thermometer told me it was cooked but apparently the other side of the bone was more frozen so that part wasn't.

Then I'm doing Halloween decorations stuff out at the front of my house and bang my head into a stupid flag holder that I haven't even once used since I bought this house, seriously what kinda flag am I supposed to display, I'm not a huge fan of my country. Anyway I hit it so bad I'm having a little trouble keeping my balance and my wife has to give me a concussion test.

So that was a fun night.
Sorry you had a rough night friend, sending good vibes your way

badges are so cool

I want one but that would mean I would have to actually play a video game :(
Yeah people with badges are sus. It’s proof they actually play games!

It has been a while guys! Since the Animal Crossing direct I have been obsessed with ACNH all over again. At the start of the year I deleted my original island to try and “get back” into the game. It did not work at the time. So when I booted up my game after the direct I was only a 1 star island!!! Finally over the last 2 weeks or so I have managed to get KK to come and get my terrraforming powers back! I am well on the way to have a more significantly nicer island ready for the DLC release on Nov 5! Anyone else in the same boat? Has it rejuvenated you to play ACNH again? I am really enjoying it and am motivated to get my island looking great again.

I was motivated to pick it up again after six months of not playing. I've been spending most of my time removing flowers I had allowed to overrun my island. At my current rate I'm hoping I'll be done by the update, haha.

Was able to go to Fan Expo today, the first expo I've been too since 2019 and it incredibly refreshing.

Even got to see Charles Martinet up close. I wanted so badly to take a picture with him, but it was WAY overpriced >.>

So I've generally refrained from trying to predict system updates in the Switch era, because they don't really have clear maintenance patterns like they used to, but I'm feeling pretty good about the chances of an update on Monday if for no other reason than to add full support for the N64 and Genesis controllers, since I don't think any icons for those have been datamined yet. Probably not a major update, because 13.0.0 was pretty recent, but 13.0.0 was also probably timed to hit right before the Switch OLED so you never know.

Ahh, I was seriously debating FanExpo but I just felt it was the kind of event that's a little too much for me just yet during Covid. How much were they charging for Martinet?

Incredibly off tangent, I think I paid $60 to have Jeff Goldblum sign his first album for me back in 2019 FanExpo and the sly bastard told me, after I asked him what his next album was going to be, responded with "I shouldn't be telling you this.", and I thanked him for his honesty and that I'll be excited regardless when it comes out.

Four fucking months later I'm in Sunrise Records, see his new album and

I think it’s because the game tries to encourage you to go for upgrades by temporarily closing paths behind you, but I keep trying to backtrack anyway. I just got the bomb, was trying to go back to an Energy Part I marked on the map and couldn’t because I don’t have the grapple beam, and then I couldn’t figure out how to get back on the critical path it wants me on. It’s probably something super obvious.

Ahh...I see. Yeah, the game essentially tries to keep you moving forward without giving you much room to backtrack until like near the end of the game. I believe there should be an area where you need to use the morph ball bomb within those launchers you can access in your morph ball form. I'm sure you've seen them around, perhaps taking a look in your map for them could help

This is the Goldblumiest shit I've heard in a long time.

I'm going to go against some of the praise I've seen of Dread and say that it does have a couple 'how the hell was I supposed to know that' moments, other than just shoot every block in the room.

Went back to my suspend point right before the second phase of the final boss in Super Metroid.

This time I saved the animals.

Then I went to eShop and now Dread is downloading.

Shame there’s no GBA on NSO or I’d go play Fusion and Zero Mission first. Then again, that would probably be tied to NSO upgrade and I sure can’t afford both that and Dread, so maybe not.

This forum is 21 days old and we still didn't get a thread about how BotW is not that good.
You bunch of bootlickers!
BotW is not fit to lick my boots. If it was called Pinobee: Where are the Wasps?! it would've barely scraped 10mil sales

Yea, I agree with this. I don't see it as a criticism though - we need Metroid to be more mainstream and the way they have developed the map and wayfinding is frankly a work of art at keeping a wide range of abilities engaged with the game.

I accept there is a harder core Metroid gamer that ultimately will find this game "a bit easy"... but I feel they did a pretty great job optimising certain parts for speed runners which does give the core gamer a different approach.

Ultimately, this is a Metroid game designed to shift some serious units... and I think it's a step in the right direction for the franchise - but I completely agree with your point, just I don't see it as a negative because I believe its deliberate and thus a masterful piece of level design.

SMT IV music especially is sooo good, Persona who?
You know, despite really liking Persona myself, these (unfair) comparisons between the two series make me give some of the Persona fans and reviewers the side-eye, ngl.

Every time I see this image...

... like, come on, folks.

I think I will meet the criteria for some of them, but I started them all before the event so it would be unfair. And I’m also bad at finishing games quickly! I should go back and finish Resident Evil 4 though.

How is it? I've been wanting to check these out.
I've not played many visual novels but massively enjoyed both of these. The art is excellent and they're fun, well written adventures. Just know that The Missing Heir especially can be old fashioned - sometimes there are leaps of logic in order to progress and the game gives little guidance. A few times it's a case of exhausting the dialogue options multiple times until you stumble on the right option. The Girl Who Stands Behind doesn't have that issue and progression is usually more clear cut.

But I'd recommend them if you're curious - just know that, while the presentation is completely modern, the gameplay hasn't really been modernised in the same way. But the narratives hold up extremely well and the visual design is excellent.

The Missing Heir was great. I've started The Girl Who Stands Behind but didn't finish it, i was actually thinking about restarting it these days so i can come back to it and be fully invested in the story again. It has been a while since i last played the game.

I'm so ready for this update. I redid my Island again recently and it was a lot of fun moving things around and just upping my terraforming/decorating skills.

$50 for a picture, $80 for a signature.

Overcosted imo

I'm back to Animal Crossing after 6 months, I want to be ready for the update coming in two weeks.
I'm giving it another whirl as well. Haven't really played it in about a year or so. I at least want to check out the new update. It is something chill to play, with little commitment, hopefully keeping me busy until SMT is out and I'll probably forget about it all over again.

Oof, yeah I agree there. Which is a shame too, I've always wanted to meet him and of course it's the pandemic era FanExpo he shows up 🙃 Did he at least have a panel?
