Even though it was only a few clips, the visuals look great. And the new perspective is interesting, will definitely make the game feel unique

I fully admit I’m a scrub, and that I wish we could do away with the timer for Pikmin 4. Even as just a toggle. Call it Baby Difficulty or something, I’ll own up to it.

I never played a Pikmin game. Is this the kind of series that you can just jump into with say Pikmin 3 Deluxe or should a new player track down and play them in order with the first two games? As far as Pikmin 1 and 2 goes, do you guys prefer the GameCube versions or the Wii versions?

Waking up to the new day and yes, Pikmin 4 is real and coming next year, it was not a dream.
My most anticipated game right now tied with Tears of the Kingdom

it still feels weird calling the sequel Tears of the Kingdom lol

I have to give a shout out to Pikmin 4 trailer that showed at least 20 seconds of footage and I know it was not "actual gameplay". But it kinda helped to set the tone, if I look into another trailer like this what comes to mind is obviously Prime 4 or Animal Crossing New Horizons announcement, both are doing nothing for me because they did not show anyhing, it was just a fucking logo.

anyway, if I only saw Pikmin 4 logo hype would still be on the roof

1) You don’t need to play them in order
2) They’re all really good
3) Both versions of 1 and 2 are fine
4) Pikmin

The games can be played independently, and they also have different approaches to how resource management works. If you play Pikmin 3 Deluxe, I highly recommend to not miss the content outside the main campaign, such as the Challenges (and don't miss Bingo Battle if you have someone to play 2-player coach with).

FWIW, Pikmin 3 Deluxe (it was not a part of Pikmin 3 on Wii U) added "After Hours" to the separate challenges, where you can collect the remaining stuff after the time runs out.

Babe, are you OK? You haven't blown your nose in your Pikmin 4 handkerchief all day

Just saw someone on Twitter mentioning once again that Miyamoto's quote from 2015 was about Hey! Pikmin. omg, these people are everywhere.

wasn't this the announcement tho?

Also while I get your argument it is hardly fair. Prime 4 was probably not even that far in development in 2017 and was more a sign of "we still care about the franchise see?".

Reading some older Pikmin 4 posts made by Fami users and it really feels like over the past few months, we manifested it. Even the fire that was at EPD back in August lines up with this.

they're gonna push Pikmin hard. 3 deluxe did very well in japan so they must see a lot of growth (heh) potential

I think his point is that even if we didn't see gameplay it's more likely to actually be 2023 than those other reveals because it's probably further along

The way how Pikmin 4 was not leaked. It's glorious. Yes, Emily said it was rebooted in 2019 but apart from that there was really nothing. Miyamoto was guarding his little baby until the very end.

Yeah, plus also the fact that there was at least some footage from the game, it wasn't just the logo.

Boy it sure would be nice to get these games in HD to make the wait for Pikmin more bearable and drum up some new fans and excitement for Pikmin 4.

my strategy:
  • link Nintendo Account to NNID
  • transfer 40 USD
  • wait until Q1 2023 Direct
  • if there aren't ports, buy them on Wii U
  • mission accomplished

It seems Pikmin has a decade gap between releases. Do you think this is because Miyamoto prefers to retain a hands-on role, but since he's been around for so long they let him take it more slowly?
I guess its just about priorities for Nintendo

I mean that was the case with Tears of the Kingdom too... In 2019 😰
Not comparing anything to Zelda development cycles tho. That game specially has been weird with each trailer being shorter than the last, the longer being that very early development teaser from E3 2019.

Maybe it's a bit of a trauma with Zelda and Pikmin being the other Nintendo contender to delays, but I don't rule out a delay for any game anymore. With we seeing so little and no gameplay tho...

Idk, I definitely expect this game to come in late 2023, but we never know.

I think the producers just disagreed with his vision of the game and then he just let them do whatever they wanted. That's just some wild, unfounded speculation of mine, though.

I knew it was gonna be a new Pikmin when he started talking about the app. Miyamoto is a legend though so I actually enjoyed his trolling. I wish we saw him more often, guess the last time was last Septembers direct. I'm not surprised at how much better this looks versus 3 though. 3 started life as a Wii game before being reworked for Wii U. It's no wonder it looks so much better.

I tried finding a copy of Pikmin 2 on GCN about ten years ago, but they were going for $40~50. Someone told me just get the Wii version for $20.

Best decision ever.
