We're open to whatever the community wants - the main purpose of that post was to gently remind people to not just open a new one without discussing with staff. Last time we had the discussion, there were certainly people in favor of a year-round thread, but my impression was they were in the minority
 
Gonna be getting surgical treatment to finally relieve me of a painful thrombosis in the morning, and my recovery phase is gonna be blessed by a Nintendo Direct in the afternoon. That's a lovely day.

The only reason I would support a year-round speculation ST is to keep this one nice and cosy. Other than that, I think it is pointless outside of the season.

I use course grind dark roast. That way I can add water to dilute if I want. I find if I use a lighter roast, you pretty much get stuck with how it comes out. We get free beans each weak, so can only speak to Starbucks beans.
 
The reason why I didn’t post in the last Direct thread that much was because the thread I started for the illfated summer Direct (which turned out to be a mini) drained me lol

Next thread in January I’d say

I don’t like it because most people just post their unrelated stuff in that and the OPs here get less engagement. I feel these should be the big threads and even include the direct discussion. Just my thoughts.

I’m definitely cool with a break for a while myself. If we find we need two threads after all, we always can make it then.

sick, but weird how waiting a long time now makes even indie games better. Reasons for day 1 purchases are shrinking. Glad I waited, very excited to play it soon!

I mean, I get it, but that would actively get less engagement out of me at least, because I only really to engage in threads like this one — easy enough to follow, as opposed to the more chaotic and, let's face it, unhinged speculation thread.

I think both are valid, and I would hate to see them merged into one big hulking beast reminiscent of eras past.

That makes sense. Maybe we just need to go back to the one month before supposed direct instead of a never ending direct thread. We are in weird times though.
 
I do prefer having the separation of general discussion and speculation; hell Speculation doesn't even need to open up until a few weeks or so before a reasonably expected timeframe for a direct. If a Direct is a surprise release, well then, no need to speculate! But between December for January January for February (grumble grumble), May for June and August for September, I feel like that covers the basic speculation ground.

1000% agreed. The speculation thread is super mentally taxing for me personally to keep up with for an extended period of time, but that kind of energy is super appreciated during "direct season". This time around I basically just burnt out on it somewhere in August.
 
I know I've yeah'd some posts already, but thank you to everyone welcoming us new mods. I am excited to be able to serve this community that I have loved going back to ERA.

I also celebrated the occasion this weekend by purchasing a lawnmower, just in case I need it ;)

It does not necessarily have to be year-round as far as I am concerned. But at least during the busy, speculation-heavy season (basically January through September), it just makes a lot of sense to me.
 
I really need to stress just how much I'm loving Nier:Replicant. Wow. After Automata, I didn't really think the series was for me, but this one right now changes my whole perspective on the franchise. I'll need to replay Automata again as well afterwards.

Consider me converted and impressed.

Personally no. I like the targeted approach for maximum delusion and hype. But, to be fair that's how the current thread started I think, and it just got dragged out bc Ninty didn't deliver the goods lol. So I think how things played out is fair, weird times and all! But yeah, like a month prior or perhaps when there is a strong verified rumor.
