New move to put on the suspect list for immediately OP additions:

Shed Tail - creates a Substitute and then switches out for another pokemon.
I think the one thing that might keep it in check is the fact that, unless you have team support to heal the Shed Tail user, you can only use it once a match. They also want multi hit attacks to be a bit more useful with the loaded dice item, and they want counters to setup with the Mirror Herb.

Might. This might still be super busted. Imagine it with proper wish support? Or on a Pokémon with Regenerator or Recover? If Slowbro get this move it will be fucking insane.

Doesn't substitute require 25% of the maximum health? They can use it up to three times per battle if no other damage is taken, discounting healing.

In the trailer, Shed Tail takes 50% of Cyclizar's health, more than the usual Substitute.

Mechanic looks kinda broken/too random, in singles it'll lead to even more u-turning/volt switching, assuming singles is even playable on cart this time because it sure wasn't in SwSh. Need to know more and see if it has limitations.

Shed Tail is good but it depends on distribution, if Slowbro or any slow mon with regenerator or form of healing gets it'll obviously be quite crazy but I feel they'll keep the distribution limited.

Mirror Herb is cool, lots of applications.

What a weird Pokemon design. I like it but it's another lizard with a wheel like body part.

I feel like I'm missing something lmao.

Edit: Nvm. I got it. That's quite the tease

You mean how the motorcycle lizard is probably the prevo of the cover legendaries?

I am liking the potential of Terastalizing shown in this trailer. Changing Coalossal to Water type and getting the Steam Engine boost for less damage was pretty cool.

they're showing this off in VGC singles
I'm aware, I don't care for 3v3 singles or whatever weird formats they have on cart. SwSh had stupidly long animations + it fucked up the timer which basically killed off the "unofficial" singles scene on cart and made Showdown the default for most properly competitive singles play again, there's a reason there's basically no Youtube videos about singles on wifi with a following and why draft leagues died and stuff.

If the timer doesn't change I'm just gonna play doubles again, which is fine but it'd be cool to play 6v6's on the actual console too.

NEW POKEMON TRAILER HYPEEEEEEEEEEE

THE GENIUSES AT GAMEFREAK HAVE DONE IT AGAIN

Pokémon are more detailed and have new animations, I absolutely love it.

Cyclizar is very cool, I'm guessing it'll be our way to traverse until we encounter the legendaries.

So competitive wise, I guess every po,emon has a set tera type. If we can find pokemon that can match good abilities then watch out!

Example:

Hyrdriegon Dark/dragon tera type Elect would mean it would have no weakness (levitate)

So one thing we still haven't had revealed that was in the leaks might relate to Cyclizar, right?

The whole "past and future versions of Pokemon" thing. Cyclizar could be the pre-evo of the box legends, of course, but it also might have the thing that Koraidon is the past version and Miraidon is the future version

Wait.....was Breloom using both an item and the new gimmick???
Yeah, which I think it'll be pretty broken. This video makes it look like a Z-move that's always STAB that can get boosted by an item + it gives you angles for defensive play too. I'm gonna assume you can only do this once per match for now though.

I do not like this trend of adding Normal typing to pokémon. You'd think having ghost immunity is useful but you end up getting your ass kicked by fighting types.
If the idea that this is a preevolution of the box legendary Pokémon holds through and they're Dragon/another type, then it's kind of a neat way to show that it changes in the future.

...I wonder if having the fairy type around makes for a meaningful nerf to fighting in this context.

Pokémon website says "You can Terastallize a Pokémon once per battle, and the transformation will last until the battle ends." But the loaded dice? I assume that isn't a one use item, given that it boosts likelihood.

Waiting for the unused typings of normal/Poison and Normal/bug and won't get kicked around by fighting types! Also we just got normal/ghost which is an amazing typing.

And Yes Normal/Steel would have a times 4 weakness but defensively it be amazing

Cool new moves and stuff but can we just talk about how the ghost type tera crystal... head adornment thing is the Gen 1 Lavender Tower ghost? Nice little callback.

Shed Tail seems like it could be immense though and Tera Blast seems like Hidden Power 2.0

It's the kind of move GF usually at first puts on only a handful of pokemon that'd be at best good but never great without the move. Aside from the legendary, let that hold true for this one please or I fear the shape of metas to come.

Did they just basically remade Hidden Power but exclusively for the new gimmick?

It's a more predictable and controllable take on Hidden Power. Players face a narrower band of possible threats, while the devs can determine exactly what alternative types they allow in the game. It's not a bad idea, unless Game Freak goes hog-wild, thought I'd have already preferred the to force pokemon to rely on tera stabs in their natural move pool instead of giving everything tera Weather Wall.

What's the problem?
What problem?
move animation plays
wait for health bar to drop
move animation plays
wait for health bar to drop
move animation plays
etc.

even worse when you have something like Justified
move animation plays
wait for health bar to drop
stat boost animation and text
move animation plays
wait for health bar to drop
stat boost animation and text
etc.

it's been faster than the past but it's still needlessly slow. that describes a lot of the combat system

I wonder if it's to make it obvious what's happening because there would be little children playing this

that's Game Freak's MO, but they go too far and stuff the game with a plodding pace. you don't need redundant text boxes and animations and whatnot. all 4 pokemon on the field during grassy terrain don't need to heal 1 at a time. pokemon whom are burned/poisoned don't need to be shown one at a time.

there was a reason time stalling was a thing a couple generations ago

It's really something.

Part of me wonders if massive chunks of the game leaking is gonna make TPC go sicko mode and just reveal (almost) everything themselves. Seeing someone spell out so much over 3 months away from release must be crushing as a marketer

Or the leaker is the director himself?
