What we did see looked good though: more animated scenes and inspiration from Octo Expansion (special only stages, timed stages)good direct, tho story mode didn't get a lot of attention

Yeah understood that, but I didn't catch the player count differences at firstThat's the point, since that's the one currently in the lead.
I don't think that made anyone happy lol. Even myself, who doesn't mind them and kinda enjoys how much people get in a tizzy over them. I just tolerate them.also I am miserable that tenta missiles came back
It's more of the same. It's not going to live up to what people thought was coming after the announcement trailer, so they're not going to spend much time on it. As you noted, the Off the Hook DLC icon seems to imply that'll be similar to Octo Expansion as well (though I suppose there's still some room for experimentation there). All in all the single player stuff is pretty cookie cutter.good direct, tho story mode didn't get a lot of attention
Or the next machine is backwards compatibleAlso 2 years of updates confirm Switch 2 is 2024 or beyond.
I know, it looked great! Especially salmon run hoo boy that salmon kingThere are actually people who didn't think that was good?????? what are you smoking
Never mind, the website says this is just the same queuing feature that was in the last game. No dropping in mid-battle. Lame!I want to know more about dropping into battle. You can do it when a friend is playing a public lobby, but I wonder if they'll also allow it for random joins, as that would address the issue of disconnects being so crippling. I don't think they would just make the normal battle search do it, since you don't always want to get dropped into the losing side with 1 minute left, but maybe an option you can enable?
"Why didn't they spend more time talking about the campaign that most people will skip?"
Same. Nothing they showed is bad -- actually, they are all cool additions. But nothing is exciting either.Yeah I'm probably in the minority here but
I dont really see why I need to buy Splatoon 3 based on this presentation.. I only ever really care for the multiplayer which will still will be fun, but what enhances Splatoon 3 over 2 here, I didnt see. And all the stuff around it just doesnt do it for me,
The fact that they released a single-player-focused DLC suggests the Splatoon community actually cares about single-player content."Why didn't they spend more time talking about the campaign that most people will skip?"
I think there's some folks here who aren't big into the series that are looking for something to make them fans. I enjoy the series and I know it'll be another quality game.I'll never understand people who expect much different from a Splatoon sequel. It's a multiplayer first game, of course it's gonna be mostly the same as the previous games. It quite literally is the iterative sequel and that's just fine.

The app seemed more or less the same to me, did I miss something?I’m whelmed. Some really nice QoL features (in some areas - they’ve made it worse in others like the phone app stuff),
This is probably for hosting local 4v4s.This is on the game's website but can't find what it refers to specifically:
...does the game require the LAN adapter? Would be a bold move if it did.
Do we know how well it sold?Same. Nothing they showed is bad -- actually, they are all cool additions. But nothing is exciting either.

A new mode playing with the established rules and/or giving a "Splatoon twist" to existing F/TPS rules / games (like Salmon Run did for the horde mode)I'll never understand people who expect much different from a Splatoon sequel. It's a multiplayer first game, of course it's gonna be mostly the same as the previous games. It quite literally is the iterative sequel and that's just fine.
"They didn't show it because it would disappoint people" is a really tenuous argument for judging something based on so little footage. From what we could see, they expanded the types of levels/challenges beyond the previous games, exactly like people were asking for after Octo Expansion. We know it has a new gameplay mechanic with Little Buddy. And that's about it! As with everything else in Splatoon 3, if someone was waiting for the trailer that shows they totally overhauled the game modes, that's not happening, but besides that the "we haven't seen x so it's bad" argument makes no sense because what else is to be expected from story mode besides beefing it up and polishing it, aka exactly what we're getting? It's more of the same. It’s uncommon for Nintendo EPD is what I’d say. There’s a reason people always bring up the “one release per system” thing, cause when you look at Mario Kart, they always have a lot new content and ideas for a new iteration.I'll never understand people who expect much different from a Splatoon sequel. It's a multiplayer first game, of course it's gonna be mostly the same as the previous games. It quite literally is the iterative sequel and that's just fine.

Iterative sequels are fine, but this is coming 5 years after the previous game and isn’t even coming out on a new console. It’s got about as much ‘new’ to it as a typical CoD sequel, and those get crap all the time for not innovating much.I'll never understand people who expect much different from a Splatoon sequel. It's a multiplayer first game, of course it's gonna be mostly the same as the previous games. It quite literally is the iterative sequel and that's just fine.
Let’s stop this. Deflecting any and all criticism with “well they’re just not fans of the franchise” is needlessly exclusionary rhetoric. If they are fans of the franchise, then you’re just saying they aren’t for no reason. If they aren’t, then you’re pushing them away by saying that the franchise can ‘never’ be for them.I think there's some folks here who aren't big into the series that are looking for something to make them fans. I enjoy the series and I know it'll be another quality game.
seems to be interesting enough to release paid DLC (again)"Why didn't they spend more time talking about the campaign that most people will skip?"

Adding exclusive items to the app, that extra mode, etc. It just feels like stuff that should be in the actual game. The app seemed more or less the same to me, did I miss something?
I'm not claiming it's bad, let's make that clear. Splatoon 2 also had exclusive items in the app.Adding exclusive items to the app, that extra mode, etc. It just feels like stuff that should be in the actual game.
