The Nintendo Direct will be focused on third parties. This guy usually has information 1 week before when there is going to be a direct, and this time they told him that he would be focused on third parties. This in Spanish

The February direct also notified it 1 week before

Yep, I'm going with a Partner Direct

Ok this was not on my radar at all. Now it is. A sequel would be great.
What exactly is on your radar? There's no game, they were just saying wouldn't it be cool.

Principalmiente = Mainly, but not only third parties
That sounds like an accurate enough description of what a Mini next week would be like, yeah; a lot of the first-party content would probably end up being DLC and post-launch content for games like Mario Kart and Strikers, while the third-party content is what really steals the show. Assuming they’d have another presentation for the bigger first-party titles sooner than September, of course.

Why is this year feeling like 2020 again? It's like Nintendo have completely dropped the ball again when it comes to communication.
How so? There was General Direct in February. Multiple first party games were already released this year. Them not doing probably General this month does not mean they dropped ball with communication, Nintendo does not owe us anything.

To be fair, is there anything they really need to communicate before a proper direct in September?

Pretty much everything confirmed for 2022 is dated besides Rabbids and Bayonetta which would both fit for partner/minis.

MP1, FE and M+R would be a good outcome for me, but I can’t fathom how they’d have all three of those and still call it a Partner or Mini. Really hard to know what to expect at this stage

What’s everybody playing these days?

Yes yes we know nobody plays games in this thread but really…

Finished 13 Sentinels a couple weeks ago and am nearly done with Triangle Strategy. Highly recommend both
Are we already at the moment when we talk about something else? 🤪

I mean all I’m personally interested in for the rest of the year is M+R (and AW if that’s still even 2022) but it’s still a well paced year overall with all we know.

It should be the 28th in all timezones. 28th/29th was just hedging bets and to cover all possible outcomes. As for why others claimed 29th... I have no idea; but the 28th has always been the date I was given -- hence the Elmo gif tease from even before Pierce gave the date.
??? I swear they’ve never done a Direct earlier than midnight Australian time

Fittingly, Wolfenstein II on XBOX but I also just grabbed Three Hopes.

I have yet to play any of the Wolfenstein games. I’ve got XSX and Game Pass so I really should.

I tried Doom 2016 a year ago and found it really kind of boring and rote - haven’t wanted to give another id game a shot yet. We’ll aware it’s an entirely different beast

Here in Europe (GMT + 2) it has happened several times that the Direct started at midnight, officially the "day after" the US date.
Not the June Direct, of course.
I’m trying to think, because there hasn’t been a Direct in the switch era earlier than 9AM EST, meaning it’s already the other day in Australia.

The only, and I mean ONLY exception to this would be the Mr. Sakurai Presents Terry, which was at 8AM EST, before midnight AEST

The new Wolfenstein games have a much bigger focus on story and are made by a different dev so they might be more to your liking.

Happy to see 13 Sentinels love!

I'm a fair bit into AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative and I'm already hooked HARD. Uchikoshi you mad lad.

It was really excellent. I happen to love tower defense as well so the combat ended up being very satisfying

Re: nirvanA - any need to play the first game ? I remember hearing Kotaku Split Screen (now Triple Click) talk about it pretty positively, but I’d rather play whatever’s newer if they aren’t connected

What if we get the Fire Emblem remake announced first? Remember the rumor is there’s a remake and there’s a new game. Insiders tend to get the dates wrong. Maybe with a Mini we get the Fire Emblem remake announced.
I’d be happy. I don’t care if we get the remake or the new game first.

But I really want one of them to show up in this direct, general or mini I don’t care…

I follow that guy, it's a journalist which directs a magazine releasing each 6 months (Manual, the magazine is amazing, not focused on reviews and such, but more on thoughts around the industry and video games as an art, including interviews with key people in the industry and such). He doesn't leak usually, but could comment on rumours and such, but he definitely has connections, and I don't think he would comment on any of that if his own source wasn't reliable.

After the focused on third parties comment, he also adds that Persona will be there (not sure how many, or if Persona 5 is included), and that a famous game from 4 years ago that came out in PS4, Xbox, PC, etc. will be announced for Switch in that Direct. He is excited about that game and will definitely play it on the Switch (not sure if he added more hints during the stream).

They're not that linked together, it's more like nirvanA is referring to "the incidents six years ago", referring to the first game, nirvanA also offers a summary if you want it. I'd say the only real reason to play the first game is because it's excellent. I'd say, lay nirvanA first, then if you get a taste for more, go to the first game.

What the hell happened here in the last 24 hours!!!???

I don’t care what they call the direct, I’m just curious to see prime HD and TP/WW ports, but this last one is really not likely to show up

A famous game from 4years ago? 2022 - 4 = 2018.

That would probably Red Dead Redemption 2.

Edit. Beaten by Seconds. But the same thought. I also hope for Batman Arkham and Mass Effect Trilogy, also Persona 5. I have no problem with focus on third- parties.

Well neither of those will turn up if they call it a 'Partner Showcase'

Holy shit it's not a partner direct. Those were contractual obligations while a global pandemic decimated Nintendo's infrastructure for putting together trailers and marketing. Partner directs are dead, let it go.

It could be a new brand of direct, or just a regular mini. Or maybe not even a direct at all, something different.

I would have thought that, but after Nate has said he can't discount a partner direct, I don't know what to think anymore.

A 2018 famous multi platform Game

I wonder if this could be Red Dead 2, considering it's been rumored every now and then.

Edit: e.g. here

While I agree there have been some rumblings about that one in the past, I guess that he would be commenting about it in a more effusive way... But I don't know, maybe he is being elusive, so people don't get it at the first thought.

It might be a cloud version of it, or Assassin's Creed Odyssey maybe in the cloud also? Me personally, I'm going with Shadow of the Tomb Raider (even if it wouldn't make a lot of sense without the reboot game or Rise).

Yakuza Kiwami 2, Soulcalibur VI? SEGA and Bandai Namco doesn't seem to care about porting these any more... But feel free to speculate:

that a famous game from 4 years ago that came out in PS4, Xbox, PC, etc. will be announced for Switch in that Direct
Possible candidates:
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 (recently leaked)
Red Dead Redemption 2
Naruto to Boruto Shinobi Strikers
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (I think they'd port Unity next)
Shadow of the Tomb Raider (they'd port the first and second game first)
Soul Calibur VI

I can't think of anything else, a lot of 2018 indies also received a Switch version. Some games make zero sense, like Monster Hunter World. Capcom would never announce it on the day of Sunbreak launch.

Or it could be just called a General Direct and have the description “Focused on games from our third party partners for 2022” dunno

Meh, it really sounds like it's just going to be a Mini with a bunch of DLC and ports+ Mario Rabbids. It's whatever, I guess. Life is real shit right now to really care about a small event.

This can be made even better with the real K Rool as a mini direct

To add a bit more information, after his info drop people in the stream asked him about that game, and how famous it is. He didn't comment further, but just that he will post a GIF on Tuesday and people will recognize it at first sight 🤔.

Red Dead Redemption 2 would be an even bigger port than anything we've gotten so far, but I think it's the type of game that could benefit from a Switch Pro announcement beforehand.

What a crazy ride.

I wouldn’t be surprised at a third-party-focused showcase with Nintendo keeping their powder dry until September, and just putting out a small individual showcase for anything releasing before then.

Among the IP I think would do great on Switch is Nier. And also it is not like the games are technical showcases. But Automata was 2017 and Replicant 2021.
I am actually surprised it never happened.

Definitely, I don't think I would even bother playing that game on the current model if something far more powerful is coming this or next year.

Or a general direct with a lot of third party content

It does feel just as likely that Nintendo’s managing to keep everything under wraps pretty well and it’s only third parties that are leaking their showings.

Nintendo managed to hide breath of the Wild 2 during E3 2019 iirc - maybe they’re being even more secretive now.
