If there's no General, I'd guess it's because the Switch successor is still a waaaaaaaaaays out

As in, if they continued revealing new games at their usual clip, they'd run out of Switch projects to show long before they'd be ready to show anything for the next console.

That could be why they're sitting on stuff like Fire Emblem and Metroid Prime HD for so long, they need stuff to pad the gap between Switch and Switch 2 or else there would be a huge dry spell because the Switch successor is taking a few hundred million years to be revealed.

Would that be reasonable? I guess, but I really don't care because it's June and I want my damn Direct

I think it's the opposite.

Nintendo HAS to reveal first DLC character for Strikers next week so the Direct can’t be a Partner.

You’re welcome.

I think given the high number of releases this year, and exciting games like Pokemon Scarlet, BotW 2 and Splatoon 3 that it's not fair to call this disappointing, even if there was no direct whatsoever. If that's disappointing for you then you simply set your expectations too high.
You can't expect every Nintendo fan to care about every Nintendo game, it's okay to be disappointed. We've been waiting years for BotW 2, MP4 or other AAA games, it's fair to ask them their best imo.

So it's going to be a bunch of unintelligible dialogue, with it ending with him saying to vote blue despite the fact the democratic party will just sit on its ass and do nothing while letting republicans do whatever they want to the country. Unopposed?
Yes

Homelander Direct

I hope he announces Herogasm 2

With the direct happening either before or after the shareholders meeting. I reckon that nintendo is making some announcements at the shareholders meeting.

It's easier to run
Replacing this pain with something numb
It's so much easier to go
Than face all this pain here all alone

Play the game, you know you can't quit until it's won
Soldier on, only you can do what must be done
You know in some way you're a lot like me
You're just a prisoner and you're tryin' to break free
I can see a new horizon underneath the blazin' sky
I'll be where the eagle's flying higher and higher
Gonna be your man in motion, all I need's this pair of wheels
Take me where my future's lyin', St. Elmo's fire

The world of Three Houses has been one of the best things of the switch era so far, a delightful surprise.

Was not that into FE before, but I poured 120 hours amongst 3H’s routes. And I’m gonna eventually do all of Three Hopes’ too. I can feel it pulling me back in

It’s complex and political, so fun to watch how things intertwine and play out among each route you choose

So I know that Markomaro on twitter as many believe just takes rumors and runs with them but it seems he might just be running with the suggestion next week is a mini direct. They posted a tweet referencing direct minis (in specific the 30 minute direct mini we had in March 2020 which was the longest direct mini to date if I recall).

Honestly, I'm split on how I'd feel if next week was only a mini since the timing is when I'd be at work likely. I just want to enjoy directs after I get off work like a normal person.

I’m playing Three Hopes. It’s like playing Three Houses again. So good

That direct mini made me think Nintendo classifies by scope of announcements rather than length

We’ve had generals that were only a couple minutes longer iirc

Sadly...my copies of 3 hopes and the capcom fighting collection won't arrive until the 28th.
I Hope they don't pull this shit on me when XC3 comes out.

Please understand.

Oh 100% agree. I figure that if god forbid next week is a mini, then its a matter of them just doing a lot of obligatory release dates and not as many big titles as they usually would. Since that mini had only like Xenoblade DE release date, some smaller nintendo games being announced, and ending with Pokemon Expansion Pass info.

I feel the scope of new Nintendo items would be few new announcements if its a mini next week and a lot more focus on just showcasing their already announced items and announcing smaller eshop tier games (any new Kirby eshop games for the anniversary since I would've thought we would get something else small yet new from Kirby beyond Kirby FL and the NSO ones???).

Hopefully this Direct Mini is more like the January 2018 instead of the March 2020. The former is much better paced and had more Nintendo announcements.

I think it's the opposite.
I just can't shake the feeling that all this long term DLC existing is a poor omen for the Switch successor being revealed any time remotely soon

We have Mario Kart, Xenoblade 3, and Splatoon 3 all getting DLC until late 2023. Even if the next console is backwards compatible (it obviously should be), that's a lot of support for Switch games in a timeframe where people are expecting the Switch 2 to release by

I think the difference between minis and generals are also the number of real world premieres. Some minis felt like we had already seen everything before.

If we have to get a Mini, January 2018 all the way. March 2020 was lowkey painful. I was optimistic at first seeing that it was 30 minutes long, then it ended up being nearly devoid of any interesting announcements or updates imo

who said it would be a successor? the PS4 pro and Xbox One X weren't successor

Yeah January 2018 might've been short but there were some solid announcements there, even if they were mostly ports. I've played and enjoyed more games from that Mini than I have some full Directs.

The March 2020 Mini literally ended on a trailer we'd already seen

Yeah. In the end the time doesn’t matter as much. It really just comes down to what we see is announced and what appeals to us.

March 2020 felt like a half-finished Direct, and given the circumstances at the time it probably was. There's a reason why we got no other Directs that year.

Yeah June 28th it is

What a crazy day it’s been in here! But whether it’s a General, Mini, Partner, or something else entirely… the quizzes must continue!

Take a seat and buckle up for Day Nine of SWITCHUM’S DIRECT QUESTION OF THE DAY | 6.25.2022

I’ll post the question in a few minutes. I still have to finish creating it, actually! XD

who said it would be a successor? the PS4 pro and Xbox One X weren't successor
The ps4pro came out 3 years after the ps4
The xbox one X came out 4 years after the Xbox one
The Drake would be coming out 6 years after the switch

Not saying it necessary wont happen, but it's not really comparable either.

Below, I have listed three sets, each containing three games. Which Directs did each of these unique sets come from (as in, they were mentioned within the Direct)? You must list all three Directs correctly to win.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA
Fe
SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy

Culdcept Revolt
Project Mekuru
Miitopia

King’s Bounty II
Panzer Dragoon: Remake
Shinsekai: Into the Depths

If the Direct is on the 28th, then we’ll know if it’s a mini or a general depending on wether they annouce it on monday or not. If they don’t then it’s a mini that’ll drop on tuesday.

Nintendo should just return to calling everything a Nintendo Direct regardless of length and content like how it was in the beginning. You could get some new game announcements or 15 minutes of Iwata talking about one specific game that has been shown off before.
