what happened to translation of the Iwata book? Was it supposed to come out last year?

Ask Iwata? Has been out for a while.

edit: like almost exactly a year ago

There are days like this when the only thing in your mind is Good-Feel Next Game
If we go by those Goemon inspired concept arts they shared a couple of years ago, I think they may be releasing their new game this year, but it could be not published by Nintendo.

Surely "new game" could just be a reference to either Strikers or Rabbids 2? I'm not sure how French grammar works, but does the phrase "at the end of the year" apply to the game as well as the film, or just the film? It could be the latter.
As a native french speaker I would say it could mean both or the latter ! ( Unfortunately it's not very helpful)

I finally watched Batman. Loved it. Really shows how basic Nolan was, he takes this interesting idea and executes it in some boring and superficial way

Love the film's visuals, loved the acting, the villain, the story, Alfred, disliked the soundtrack (a lot)

Michael Giacchino can you stop sucking, for a single film please? Whens the last time you composed something great? With Ratatouille 15 years ago?
The Batman rocked, glad we agree on that and you loved it! I'm not a huge Giacchino guy based on his 2010s work but I quite liked the score, especially when listening to the full OST on Spotify. Sonata in Darkness is a really beautiful, haunting track imo. I certainly think it's better than the BvS/ZSJL scores, though I don't consider that a very high bar to clear.
To be fair: I mostly hate him due to his dumb war movie, but other than that, I... never really liked him.
It's funny, I love Dunkirk because it's so restrained compared to most of his work. The dude just doesn't know how to write human beings in his blockbusters, and almost all of his movies are like 20-30 minutes too long. So having the focus be on the actions and not the dialogue of these civilians and military personnel really allowed me to focus on the clever structure and incredible direction/score/cinematography, which is pretty undeniable imo.
Heh. And I found Dunkirk to be an amazing film lol.

Probably his second best after Memento. Granted. I haven’t liked much of his 2010 to now films. And I’ve never seen Tenet nor have a desire too.
You and me both! Memento, The Prestige, Dunkirk, and Inception/TDK are the ones I still really really enjoy.
It’s real and it’s spectacular.
Great reference as I just watched the Seinfeld 2-part clip show for the first time and only have the finale left to watch. Seinfeld is my dad's favorite show of all time so I grew up around it plenty, but never saw every episode and certainly nowhere near in order.

A 2D Mario for this holidays isn’t strangely rare to happening as…

1) SMM2 was released in june 2019, by end 2022 ot would have passed 3 years and half. The game got less than a year of support.
2) 2D Mario is more accesible than 3D Mario, so better for the expanded audience who is watching the movie and han’t played a mario game in ages
3) As is more accessible, Mario 2D has more potential to sale than 3D Mario. Odyssey was a huge succes (+23 millions) but is still a bit far from NSMB DS or Wii (both +30 millions).
4) 2D Mario titles doesn’t get very long marketing cycles. It can be announced this june with the movie first trailer.

Pokemon in November + 2D Mario in December + price drop can be a good combination for this holidays (+ other software like Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 1 Remaster for us the most gamers).

I love building backlog :(, I missed a lot of Switch output during 2018-2010 and I have slowly built a backlog of physical games which are hard to find like Astral Chain or XC2 Torna . Having all these games to play this year makes me happy knowing I have a lot of fun games to play soon
2018-2010

How did you learn time travel?

Are you really living life if you don’t have a backlog

Old games don't exist on the internet.

I wonder if Three Hopes will have some cool new mechanics/features or if it will just be Fire Emblem Warriors with a good story. After Age of Calamity I don't know if I want to play a musou game anymore but the cast of Three Houses is one of the best things Nintendo has given us..

It would be great to get 3 or 4 EPD titles this year, because it might mean we still get several EPD titles in 2023.

2022:
  • Switch Sports (EPD 4)
  • Splatoon 3 (EPD 5)
  • [Stinky Horse Game] (EPD 4)
  • [another game] EPD 8/9/10

2023:

- The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (EPD 3)
Then, two or three out of:
  • 3D action game (EPD 8)
  • 2D action game (EPD 10)
  • 2D action game (EPD 8)
  • unknown game (EPD 9)
  • New Tomodachi (EPD 7?)

I just don't know if EPD has that capacity. Ideally, it should.

Uggghhhhhh, I don't wanna think about my Switch backlog...but here I go grabbing it to look at all the games I have downloaded and have yet to play 🙃

Pokemon Legends Arceus (I'M 98% DONE I SWEAR, I JUST NEED TO SIT DOWN AND BEAT IT IN THREE HOURS)

Raji: An Ancient Epic
Shaq-Fu (thankfully free, but still on the list technically)
Sonic Mania (played around 15 hours, no save file even close to the end)

Super Bomberman R (the actual game bought a year after launch, not the f2p online)

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania (40% off this week, sue me)
Synaptic Drive (I just...really wanted more out of my supposed Custom Robo successor)
Skyrim
The First Tree (paid for with gold coins with a friend who did the same, and they told me after it wasn't very good)
The Witcher 3
Thumper (I got about 60% of the way through the game but some of the boss battles got stupid hard)

Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 (played less than 5 hours, only really play online with friends)
Untitled Goose Game (need to finish that some day)
Xenoblade Definitive Edition (played less than 5 hours)
Xenoblade 2 (Deluxe Edition, still in box)

This on top of PS4, Wii U, 3DS, Wii, DS, Gamecube, GBA, N64...

Square Enix is giving us Triangle Strategy, Live a Live, Tactics Ogre Reborn, Chrono Cross, Star Ocean, Valkyrie Elysium, The Diofield Chronicles, Dragon Quest 3 remake 😭😭😭 what a time to be alive

Well they can make me even happier if they put Star Ocean 6 and Valkyrie Elysium. VE probably has Sony exclusivity on it so I don't count on it but at least Star Ocean and its past games should be possible.

If I count all the free games I've got and through subs, my backlog would be much larger. Thankfully , I don't count them

That is my one saving grace 😅 I figured the GaaS games don't count because they're meant to be played endlessly (Stardew Valley I don't think I've technically beaten either, but also I've gotten 160 hours out of a $20 game so like...that counts as beaten in my eyes haha)

What the fuck am I looking at
Tactics Ogre, my friend, Tactics Ogre! Until Triangle Strategy it was my number one favorite SRPG and I would be extremely happy to have it on the Switch even if it means another nail on my Vita's coffin.
