How does Bayonetta 2 run in handheld mode? I plan to sell my WiiU copy and buy it on the eshop. I know that in docked mode it hits ~60 fps most of the time but I saw really little opinions on the handheld side.
IIRC, both Bayo games are 720p@60fps in handheld mode, with drops under specific conditions. Same performance as docked mode, really.

Why is every video for this game 50% footage of developers talking and 50% slow pans of still scenes?
Because it's a Bethesda game and if they show any gameplay it has a high probability to crash and/or bug out and it won't be in a playable state until about 6 months after release, even though fans will have mods out on pc that will fix most of the issues in a week or two. If there's one thing in the video game industry that I'm sure of, it's a Bethesda launch.

I just wish we weren't in the dark about Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD Switch ports. If it isn't going to happen I would love to just know so I can stop waiting and find a Wii U to play them... I hate being in this limbo and there is no reliable info on their arrival or lack therof.
I would bet money on them coming this year since BotW2 was delayed. Unless Nintendo has some 2D remake sitting in the can, which I am doubtful about. We'll know by June.

Yo, I just saw this, heard that beautiful soundtrack, looked further into it and this looks like a very beautiful metroidvania game. The sound design is crisp and crunchy and combat looks very fluid and fun. Colour me very interested and it releases on May 19th.

Omg those menu sound effects are satisfying

I wonder how big the "Nintendo fans who only buy Nintendo games" group actually is. I don't know a single person who consciously and actively avoids games by other pubs and devs.
I have a few friends with Switches who only have Nintendo games. Not sure if they avoid other devs/pubs or if it's more that they just grab the high-profile hits and don't look much deeper.

Nintendo just needs to get Lady Gaga in Bayonetta 3 and then nobody will care about DMCV

So, just found out my Switch OLED's battery is draining up very fast (like, '20% per 2 hours' fast) while in sleep mode after the latest updates (14.0.0. and 14.1.0.). I have reported it to Nintendo Europe on their website, hopefully they will fix it in their next update. Looking at Reddit, it looks like a slightly widespread issue.

Just to be of potential help: did anything change in regards to the settings of your WLAN router your Switch is always connected to lately? When I had to reset my device, it also reset the password and name of the device of course. For some odd reason however, the Switch will still try to connect to the old access point, which obviously doesn't exist anymore, repeatedly until it's able to successfully connect to it, so it's basically stuck in an infinite loop which drains the battery incredibly fast even in sleep mode. Deleting the old access point of the Switch fixed it.

Hope this can be of use for you, would be a shame to have the issue be tied to something we aren't able to work on ourselves.

Oh I know that people who only own Nintendo games exist but I think it’s often a little more nuanced than just not wanting to play anything besides Nintendo games.

Most people outside of dedicated gaming communities only buy a handful of games across a console’s lifespan, others are only interested in singular franchises regardless of their association with Nintendo (Pokémon for example). Then you also have people that use their Nintendo systems only for exclusives because they play the majority of their games on other platforms.

The group of hardcore Nintendo fans who could be interested in third-party games but don’t buy them out of some misguided brand-loyalty just seems so irrelevant, I’m not sure why it’s constantly brought up as if to prove a point.

Everybody's making room for that SNES Remix shadow-drop on 5/5, buckle up.

Ok listen to me. Chris Pratt in Super Mario Odyssey 2

For real, that's a stupid thing to think about but I've always wondered what will Nintendo do when Charles Martinet retire ? Use old recordings (if that's not already what they're doing) or replace him ?

What would be more shocking: a new Blinx game or a new Billy Hatcher game?
I think Microsoft completely abandoned the Blinx trademark, so definitely that.

Billy Hatcher at least had a couple of appearances in various SEGA crossovers, and there's always the chance some Indie studio would pitch the idea for them, so they could license the IP out.

It's just console warring bs, same as the tired "Nintendo fans hate RPGs" nonsense that I saw a lot of on twitter after SMTV and the last Direct. It kind of reminds me of the old days when gaming magazines would label Nintendo as "kiddie" and that would eventually make its way to schools where kids would spin it until it was "fact".

Thanks! Actually, yes, I changed my old router for a 5GHz one a few weeks ago (around the time of the themes update on Switch). When I get home I will check if the old device is still saved in the Switch settings, hopefully that will do.

By third parties you mean?

Well bit on Valkyria chronicles 4. Hopefully it doesn’t take me 3 years from when I start it to complete it this time

Probably because they don’t have gameplay-ready footage. I am expecting a lot of Bethsda jank for that game.

Blinx as Microsoft let the trademark go 7 years ago. It's literally impossible for it to return.
Dang, I didn’t know that. That sucks to hear.

Not that they avoid games from other pubs but more like they only buy like one or two games, and those games happen to be Mario and Pokemon. I know a couple of folks who have and play only Animal Crossing: New Horizons (well one of them has since bought BotW).

In any case third party is going strong for the Switch, it would be mistaken for anyone to state otherwise by implying “Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo games”.

My experience with 'Nintendo-only' people , it's just people that aren't that interested on video games outside of some franchises they enjoy (because they are unique or just what they grow up playing) like Animal Crossing or Pokemon, or people that can't afford that many games and Animal Crossing/Pokemon/Mario are their favorite franchises so that's what they buy . But that's not that different that the PS users that only play Sports games , every platform has players that just buy a certain type of games or franchises and that's totally fine.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't own an XSX but would love to see gameplay of it.

It's cause Bethesda Game Studios simply doesn't like doing big showcases for games until relatively close to release. They've done this for every single game they've developed since Fallout 3, where - even if the game's been announced beforehand - you wouldn't see proper gameplay until E3 of release year. In Fallout 4's case, the game hadn't even been announced until 7 months before launch. We will 100% be getting a full blowout for the game at whatever conference Microsoft does to replace their E3 stuff.

I am playing Banjo Kazooie again through the Switch app and it makes me really inspirational to try and give my own shot at game design and development.

Over the years I have noted down so many ideas that felt good at the time. And a couple of years ago I started toying around in GameMaker and learned the beginnings of coding but now I am thinking "With all these modern creation tools at my disposal, wouldn't it be possible to lay down a fundament for a 3D platformer on my own?"

It's a staggering amount of work and time investment but chipping away at it day by day sounds like something rather fun, I'd learn a lot of skills down the road and I could be more than just the idea guy. I want to give it a shot.

Have any of you tried Game design and/or development as a total beginner on your own and any tips whether there would be big limitations in using Unity vs. Unreal if I just want to start out with simple graphical assets?

PLEASE BE GOOD STARFIELD. I never loved a single Bethesda game i played. They lacked quality in writing, in production values, gameplay, etc. But im being a sucker now and hoping Starfield will finally be it y know, cause the concept art looks brilliant.

If its good i will cave in and get an Xbox. Also for Mass Effect 4 obv.

I am a sucker for space games, no matter the genre. Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid,Mass Effect, Dead Space, SOMA, Alien Isolation, Kotor. When they announced No Man's Sky was coming to Switch i couldnt believe it.

Between fatigue and spending time away from home, I haven't been on Kirby much the last few days, so my time going through world 3 was a little disjointed.

It's a damn good game though, and easy to get back into it. Just unlocked the fourth world.

Was this known about?

Nvm it's Nintendolife not Nintendo. Me being hasty and not paying attention. This is why trademarks exist.

Looks like video game forum Resetera.com has started a dedicated Nintendo thread! What a new and novel concept, best of luck to them.
