Aside from Elden Ring, what’s the best “If you like BotW, you may also like:” out of Genshin Impact, Immortals Fenyx Rising and Horizon Forbidden West?

Never played Horizon or Genshin, but Immortals is pretty damn good.

I can also only speak to Immortals but I'll also say that it was a pretty fun time. It's less directly BoTW and more "Ubisoft open world but with BoTW traversal and more of a puzzle focus" but it does achieve its goals admirably. Nothing masterful, but a solid all around fun title that's a blast to play through.

Part of me has begun to suspect that one reason a new 3D Mario has taken so long - besides the pandemic and EPD 8 potentially expanding and restructuring into two teams - is that they prototyped numerous ideas before settling on what direction to take.

Bowser's Fury makes me think that's what happened and that perhaps the prototyping phase was longer than usual. I think BF got sent to NST to finish after EPD 8 tried to make it work as the next idea for a new Mario (or, something similar to it).

I could see a lengthy prototyping phase also being the case with any hypothetical DK game; Nintendo's internal teams haven't touched DK for a little while and so they'd want to get any new direction for the character and series right.

Yo, I just saw this, heard that beautiful soundtrack, looked further into it and this looks like a very beautiful metroidvania game. The sound design is crisp and crunchy and combat looks very fluid and fun. Colour me very interested and it releases on May 19th.

Nate is 1,000,000% confident in Metroid Prime HD. It's been discussed at length during several other episodes, and he expects it to be shown off at E3. No new updates from the podcast on new FE though.

Barring any big surprises like Mario or DK, my opinion of the June Direct is going to be predicated on 3 things:

1) How good does Metroid Prime HD look, as someone who's beaten every 2D Metroid (Zero Mission/Samus Returns subbing in for the oldies) but never played any Prime game?
2) Do we get our first Metroid Prime 4 teaser? Is any of it in-engine?
3) Do we see BOTW 2?

Yeah I agree. personally I think we'll also have long and very detailed trailers for both Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Bayonett , my excitement for this titles is through the roof, and I hope the summer Direct will deliver.

Good morning to everyone, except to the person who designed the last boss battle in Kirby’s colosseum

I think Nintendo has to be gearing up for a significant announcement at their June Direct.

Looking at the biggest games they have planned...

Pokemon will do its own event like usual for Gen 9, Splatoon 3 will be nearly out by then, and BotW2 just got delayed and likely won't show up until later this year like September.

It really is time to show a trailer for Prime 4 and/or the next Mario even if they're 2023 or later.

I just wish we weren't in the dark about Wind Waker/Twilight Princess HD Switch ports. If it isn't going to happen I would love to just know so I can stop waiting and find a Wii U to play them... I hate being in this limbo and there is no reliable info on their arrival or lack therof.

Say all you want about Bayonetta 3 and how many copies will be sold, but the september's gameplay trailer is at 2.4 million views. That's twice as much as the Astral Chain announcement trailer that was in 2019...

Internet Hype =/= Sales numbers , Bayonetta like Yakuza/Silent Hill or Megaman are big in the internet but in reality they don't sell as much as you would expect. Bayo 3 is going to seller quite better than Astral Chain for sure though I think around 3M is a good bet.

3 million for Bayonetta 3 would be a miracle. I’m thinking 1.5 million is the ceiling.

Either way, the sales discourse will still be less obnoxious than the “OMG Switch/Nintendo is holding the series back” discourse.

It all depends on Nintendo's marketing push for the game. Other titles like Xeno 1, Astral Chain, Marvel got 1m sales with close to zero marketing efforts but if Bayo 3 got what Kirby got recently, 3m should be an easy task. I'm thinking 5m if Nintendo pushes the game hard enough.

I would be very surprised if BOTW2 didn’t have a showing in the summer Direct.

If there is no BOTW2 in the June Direct, then i think it's likely that we'll get Metroid Prime 4. A trailer with a "2023" at the end.

Yes, great morning to them!

(That boss is so cool…bring items like the double health bar if it is giving you grief...)
The boss is great, but the unexpected second phase hit me hard the first time

Managed to clear it though !

How does Bayonetta 2 run in handheld mode? I plan to sell my WiiU copy and buy it on the eshop. I know that in docked mode it hits ~60 fps most of the time but I saw really little opinions on the handheld side.

If you think Bayo 3 will outperform DMC5 sales-wise, I’ve got a bridge I’m willing to sell you
I would love to see Kimaya face in that situation lol it would be the biggest fuck you to Capcom possible . But honestly Bayonetta 3 if it’s as good as Bayo 1/2 and gets the full Nintendo marketing push 3M is not out of reach more than that is dreaming territory though.

I'd put money on no Breath of the Wild 2 or Metroid Prime 4 at the June Direct.
BOTW2, sure.

But I'm having a hard time imagining a scenario where (Re-)Prime gets shown off and Prime 4 doesn't at least get teased.

Prime 4 showing up would be as a double feature with Prime HD essentially.

But regardless I think BotW2 won't show. My hunch is that they re-reveal it in September with a big gameplay trailer, the official title, and release date. Then continue to build it up at TGAs and then a final trailer in the February Direct.

After the delay my gut feeling is that they aren't ready to give that full reveal yet. Then if they won't, it would be annoying if a 3rd BotW2 teaser would again be the big E3 announcement when Nintendo has Mario and Metroid games years in development at this point that would be more exciting.

Capcom's marketing efforts is nowhere near Nintendo's level. Bayo 3 beating DMC5 sales is more than possible. It all depends on IF Nintendo wants to push the game.
Marketing isn’t going to make a niche title sell wonders. I’d love for the series to have a glow-up just as much as the rest but the simple fact is that Bayo 2 has sold not much more than 1 million across two platforms.

It doesn’t matter how much marketing $ Nintendo throws at this series. It’s niche and that’s going to prevent it from having a wide base of appeal unlike Kirby which is incredibly approachable.

Marketing is one thing. But Bayonetta has always struggled with being a character that could match or exceed Dante's appeal, and I don't think she's even going to beat out her "big bro" in that respect. Cereza couldn't even do that when she was still multiplatform, let alone when her new adventures became exclusive to one.

Nintendo was able to make Astral Chain a new IP with not that much marketing a Milion seller it only took 6 months. Bayonetta is an establish series even if niche but it has one of the most well known characters in Bayonetta (even if there are a lot of differences appeal wise it’s similar to Kirby situation of being bigger than the games) . I think expecting Bayo to do 2/3 times better than Astral Chain it’s not that hard to imagine when it’s an IP that Nintendo has put a lot of money behind.

I was feeling really down last night, but I had a good laugh at the Bayonetta sales discussion. I don't normally check this thread, but I'm glad I did this morning.
