I think there will just be random Twitter and Youtube drops. They can announce Splatoon 3's release date on Twitter and it can get a larger in-depth look if there's a June Direct. Fire Emblem Warriors and Mario Strikers can get overview videos.
That's still what I'm leaning toward. Lots of twitter announcements and some cleanup to get things out of the way before a June Direct

What's the point in having a June Direct if there's no E3? Wouldn't it make sense to do it earlier?

There's gonna be some sort of Direct next month, I'll bet my avatar on it.

Dialogue options:

Will you tell me your social security answer?

1. Yes, let me tell you it right now...

2. Yes, and here are other personal details about me...

(Mass Effect has nothing on these dialogue options; your choices truly matter here!)

Technically the June Directs aren't part of E3. But regardless, Nintendo has been doing June presentations for many years now to outline there schedule for the end of the year. I don't see why that would change even if there is no E3 this year. The exact week might shift but I'm still going to guess that there will be one around that time frame.

Don't do it, Magic-Man, you have so much to live for!

Hey, I put a lot of work into making Light mode look as slick as possible!

The colors are taken from the Famicom, including the off white and the deep scarlet.

That being said LIGHT MODE SUUUUX
Light mode is great. I swap the theme based on the motion of the sun in the sky though. Would be nice if the website could automatically change per my iOS settings (sure this is hard to do).

'Some sort of Direct' in May is still probably a good bet, either a game-focused one, or Pokemon, or something. But I still think the General will be in June.

That's cool and all.

I would compare Nintendo Directs to... BOTW itself.

...BOTW because they both have upcoming sequels.

For all your BOTW comparison needs.

The thing is that E3 provided a deadline that development teams would have to get materials ready by so that their games could be shown at the show. So in Nintendo terms it may mean a trailer in the Direct or a demo showcase for Treehouse Live for example.

Basically it goes both way, Nintendo could decide to push their regular E3 presentation back and not forward without the deadline E3 provides. Honestly I hope they stick to June for the sake of consistency and maybe do a mini Direct this month or something if they have news to share sooner.

They could, definitely. But this year it feels like they have so much stuff to talk about before long that that seems unlikely to me. Plus June is the end of the quarter, if that means anything.

In no particular order and with some being related to the desktop-handheld switching while others are more general in nature:
  • WiFi issues, especially with 5GHz networks (signal drops regularly)
  • fan noise (fan curve ain't great, spinning at full speed 75%+ of the time, high pitched)
  • image/resolution scaling issues (mostly when switching between desktop and native Deck mode)
  • technical issues with games marked as supported/verified (Dragon Quest XIS e.g. booted with the image being squished to a few pixels in the middle of the screen, making it impossible to navigate the settings to change the display settings from fullscreen to borderless to solve the issue; Horizon Zero Dawn crashed outright on me - twice)
  • the trackpads stop working sporadically?!
  • the on-screen keyboard doesn't seem to work at all in desktop mode for me, even when using the Deck's own screen and no external monitor
  • shader compilation still occuring in-game, even though Steam downloads compiled shader packs with the games already?!
  • loading times being surprisingly long sometimes (and adequate other times) (256GB SSD model here, all games installed on the internal memory thus far)
  • graphics settings from my PC config being imported onto the Deck (though this might be more on the games than Steam itself), making some games unplayable at first due to higher res and general graphical settings
  • Steam Cloud Save synchronization failing regularly for me
  • some odd app behaviour (Spotify for instance doesn't properly sync my liked songs across devices, while it works flawlessly on my Android phone and windows PC and even the PS4)
  • what I'd call general sluggishness of SteamOS3 and the Deck UI/Gaming Mode (as it's called) in particular, sometimes not reacting to button prompts, menues freezing for a few secs, apps stopping to react (like the appstore e.g.)
  • black screen on the Deck itself when booting some games, persisting for anywhere between 30-60 secs; and even closing some titles can lead to something similar

That's all coming to mind right now, with some points that I had actually written down, haha.

Depending on what you're looking for with the Deck, some might be more serious issues than others. Personally I perceive most of them as annoyances, but nothing that would totally break the experience for me. Some edge cases as well that might not even apply to everyone's first experiences with the device.
While it might appear to be a lot at first glance, there's actually more about the thing that I like than what I dislike; as I said in my previous post, I actually do enjoy the Deck quite a bit, and playing Monster Hunter World or Tales of Arise on it for instance has been a blast!
(Also having Persona 4 on a handheld again! <3)
yeah, seems like issues all these could eventually be fixed/improved upon though

Complains when my videogame characters don't look like supermodels
Also complains when actual supermodels show up in my videogame commercials

For sure. The only two things I suspect won't get better due to being tied to the hardware are the fan and the R1/L1 bumpers (which I actually forgot to mention before) being too flush with the Deck's top. It's pretty hard to press them sometimes.
Still, most issues are software related and could easily be fixed by the time others get their Deck. Hopefully!

I wanted to buy some snacks for vidyagame night, I drove to the store:

First time - I arrive without my wallet, realize when I just walked in to the store. I drive back home to get the wallet.
Second time - I brought my wallet, started shopping, pop up my wallet to check for my card. Realize my card is on my desk at home. Drive home again.
Third time - I did it! Got my stuff. I am the best

It’s very fair to say no one at Nintendo expected these sales for Mario Kart 8 deluxe.

The ultimate Evergreen.

Can sale at Full Price
Can sale at any small discount
Can be bundled with no lose
And it was a port

MK8 Deluxe is one of those games I feel like I will get on Switch eventually even though I probably wouldn't play it much. Collection feels incomplete without it.

Beautiful and fun game though. I played it on Wii U which is why I didn't get it on Switch. I'm not much into racing games anymore but I did have fun with it during the original release.

And Splatoon needs to be dated. I doubt they'll give it a month from announcement of release date to release day.
Splatoon will be given release date probably late April/early May. Splatoon 2 was given release date in mid April. And there will probably be testfire in May or June.

I wonder if Mario Kart 8 DX is the game made by a big publisher with the higher returns versus cost without taking into account cost of making the original game of course.

On Series X I've had Tiny Tina's Wonderlands freeze up on me more than any other game I've ever played. It's fucking ridiculous. Three times in the span of a few minutes.

Yeah, I have the game for Wii U and payed for the DLC so I didn't have a real incentive to double dip. The new DLC is very very tempting and probably will get the game eventually.

I haven't bought the DLC for MK8DX yet; but I played a couple of races online on the new tracks, and I only came to the conclusion I don't know how to play Mario Kart anymore... after 700+ hours on Crash Team Racing, it only gets worse;

I could set up a cronjob on the server that runs a script every hour that makes a database update that changes the style setting for every user that has opted in if their local time is, say, 6PM.

Good News: Xenoblade 3 is launching next week
Bad News: Prime 4 is cancelled
Very bad news: Switch Pro is also cancelled
