Buttcoin would work nicely with that Rex’s Rump theme I suggested. The stars are aligning…
April: Wario Yellow
Choco's reaction: "yay, Yellow for Tails!"

September: Rexbutt Blue
Choco's reaction: "yay, Blue for Sonic!"

Famiboards After Dark is a weird place

Looks like there might not be a sonic 3 movie.

It’s nothing really, he went into semi retirement passion project only mode around 2015. His last project before Sonic 1 was in 2016. He’s doing sonic cause he enjoys it that’s why he brought up the scripts he finds cool comment

If you want something more painful to your eyes than the Wario theme the new Live-Action Fairly Oddparents is streaming on Paramount+
If you want something more painful to your eyes than the Wario theme the new Sony Pictures film Morbius is now playing in a theater near you

Kind of late with this but anyone remembers when 4chan leaked Pokemon Let's Go games on April fools day? Lol

So, my current Steam Deck experience and impressions most certainly are still on the very tentative side of things. But what I'll say already is that using this thing both handheld ("undocked") and as a desktop replacement ("docked") has shown me just how much care and most certainly work Nintendo and partners/third parties have put into making the Switch experience as smooth and hassle-free as it is. Because

the Deck experience definitely is not. I still really, really like the thing so far, but it puts things into perspective, that's for sure. Still not entirely sure how to fit this device into my (gaming) lifestyle either. But that's after only 2 1/2 days with the thing, so still early impressions, etc.

(Holy shit, though, the software needs work. Any console launching in a state like this would've been given a grilling, and deservedly so, I'd say; Valve/the Steam Deck really have a lot of good will and benefit of the doubt here with this launch in my eyes.)

Being in Ukraine right now has made me really appreciate portable gaming and my Switch in general so I really hope Valve can figure out how to make the Steam Deck experience as good as possible since I also got a pretty big Steam library.
What are your main complains right now?

I was going to ask what your criticisms are in case I buy it, then I remembered it’s not even getting sold in my country. Welp. Hope you find your fun with it though!

My biggest worry about the Steam Deck is support for games in 4-5 years . When you buy the Switch or any console you expect the plataforms to be supported for 5-6 years (or even longer). But due to Steam Deck being a PC portable maybe in 2-3 years there are already new games that don’t run on the Steam Deck properly. It seems to be the dream emulation machine though and that alone may make it worth it once you don’t need to wait one year+ for it.

In no particular order and with some being related to the desktop-handheld switching while others are more general in nature:
  • WiFi issues, especially with 5GHz networks (signal drops regularly)
  • fan noise (fan curve ain't great, spinning at full speed 75%+ of the time, high pitched)
  • image/resolution scaling issues (mostly when switching between desktop and native Deck mode)
  • technical issues with games marked as supported/verified (Dragon Quest XIS e.g. booted with the image being squished to a few pixels in the middle of the screen, making it impossible to navigate the settings to change the display settings from fullscreen to borderless to solve the issue; Horizon Zero Dawn crashed outright on me - twice)
  • the trackpads stop working sporadically?!
  • the on-screen keyboard doesn't seem to work at all in desktop mode for me, even when using the Deck's own screen and no external monitor
  • shader compilation still occuring in-game, even though Steam downloads compiled shader packs with the games already?!
  • loading times being surprisingly long sometimes (and adequate other times) (256GB SSD model here, all games installed on the internal memory thus far)
  • graphics settings from my PC config being imported onto the Deck (though this might be more on the games than Steam itself), making some games unplayable at first due to higher res and general graphical settings
  • Steam Cloud Save synchronization failing regularly for me
  • some odd app behaviour (Spotify for instance doesn't properly sync my liked songs across devices, while it works flawlessly on my Android phone and windows PC and even the PS4)
  • what I'd call general sluggishness of SteamOS3 and the Deck UI/Gaming Mode (as it's called) in particular, sometimes not reacting to button prompts, menues freezing for a few secs, apps stopping to react (like the appstore e.g.)
  • black screen on the Deck itself when booting some games, persisting for anywhere between 30-60 secs; and even closing some titles can lead to something similar

That's all coming to mind right now, with some points that I had actually written down, haha.

Depending on what you're looking for with the Deck, some might be more serious issues than others. Personally I perceive most of them as annoyances, but nothing that would totally break the experience for me. Some edge cases as well that might not even apply to everyone's first experiences with the device.
While it might appear to be a lot at first glance, there's actually more about the thing that I like than what I dislike; as I said in my previous post, I actually do enjoy the Deck quite a bit, and playing Monster Hunter World or Tales of Arise on it for instance has been a blast!
(Also having Persona 4 on a handheld again! <3)

Definitely don't buy it expecting another 3+ years of AAA titles running well on Deck. That's not what this is made for, yeah. It'll make for a great "retro"/back catalogue, Indie, and AA type of games machine, and certainly will profit from the current cross-gen period in some AAA games' cases, but a future proof machine for all types of games it is not.

Weekend feels so good rn. Could do without the snow, however.

Wow, looks a lot better than expected - though it's clearly struggling quite a bit in the open world areas. I'm still keeping my Xbox Series X order of the game - not sure I'd want to deal with the inevitably-long load times with this port (especially between planets).

On that front: Should I open the ST now that copies are out in the wild, or wait until Monday/when reviews are out?

I’m kinda digging handsome Wario as my profile pic, not sure if I should stick with him a while or if it’s time to bring back the crocs.

Lego Star Wars ST is up! Make sure to change your theme to Dark or Light Mode in preferences before, as the Wario theme really fucks with it lol

EDIT: Oh shit, this is my 500th post here! And with over 1,000 Yeahs as well! :D Nice to have the milestone marked with a meaningful contribution to the site like an ST :)

I have been crossing off some Monster Hunter: Rise quests. And another game that I will say something about soon :D.

Furthermore I will be playing some Kirby with my SO this weekend.

When will Famiboards return to normal? This Wario-thing, I get it, it was funny but it's kinda hurting my eyes.
