I've been in one of those moods lately where I keep starting games and not playing them very much. But conversely I've read like three books this week, so go figure.

Honestly I'm completely the opposite. I get way more involved if I'm reading a physical book. I get too easily distracted if I'm reading one online or as an ebook.

True, but I could never do without PDF Drive or LibGen or Z Library.

Otherwise, I'm constantly buying books... although there are physical books that I really get engrossed in.

I signed up for the book of the month club so I get 1-3 hardback books every month (hence my backlog). But I still tend to buy books somewhat frequently (although I got like five books for Christmas so I stopped for a bit).

Btw, not trying to knock ebooks at all, I get the appeal and I'm glad they work for you.

Since Wario is clearly the theme for the day, I suppose I can mention something about Dr. Wario in Dr. Mario World, if you are interested. The spoiler does not contain any crucial info that is best experienced on your own, but given the infamy of Dr. Mario World (the thread here about the end of that game is generally dismissive with its one-liner, and it never even corrected the end year).

Dr. Wario is basically one of the best doctors to use in Dr. Mario World, because his skill is incredibly useful. In a game where capsules are limited, Dr. Wario's ability to give more of them is a godsend for many less-skilled players, as that would allow stages to be cleared. Of course some stages are tailored for certain characters, but for general usage Dr. Wario is the best. In fact, he is the recommended doctor for Daily Booster (the game's endless where you get rewards for how many viruses you eliminated) for that reason.

In versus, that's another story. He's attack is slow (it was even slower initially), which is not very useful because there is a method to reset the attack metre by clearing all viruses on your side, making Dr. Wario difficult to use unless you are a very fast player. His skill to temporarily stop opponent attacks (except for the virus clear state) is good, but it was not enough. The balance patches made him better by increasing the speed of his attack and slightly reducing the skill metre, making him overall better.

I really need to get back into reading novels. The only thing I've read in the past year is the Shadow and Bone trilogy and a little mountain of textbooks.

Admittedly the Wario theme was as cute as it was blinding, but April Fools videos need to go or at least be taken down the day after so they don't show up on the feed at other times.

The Game Developer’s Choice and IGF awards exist and are streamed as part of GDC. They’re the industry’s Oscars and Sundance to Keighly’s MTV awards.
 
Does someone know when reviews for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga could be dropping? It being released next Tuesday, I was expecting to start reading some, and especially if I could find any with a Switch copy 😅

I'd like to pre-order it, but seeing previews I am scared of its performance on Switch.

And when it comes to performance the game has already leaked due to French retailers (and maybe in other countries) selling the game early and it seems like it has great performance in handheld at least (haven’t seen people talk about docked) of course it’s not going to be like the next gen or pc version graphics wise but it seems to be better than other Lego ports (and other ports in general)
