There is so much to unpack here
Yeah, what did I just read?! Gonna need some deets here

So, I’m still trying to determine the title for the Kirby ST. I was thinking something with the word “dimension” because the game is 3D and Kirby also travels to another dimension in the game. Any last-minute ideas?
This is absolute trash and you should not use this:

This isekai sucks

Bruh i just listen to some Kirby and the Forgotten Land music. There is a lot of 80s vibe music in it and I LOVE IT!!!!!!

In this Nintendo StarTopic I want to share I beat StarTropics! Never played it until a few days ago and I may never have played it all except for Fami naming STs as it did. So yeah I got momentum today and wrapped it up. Cool game with a great sense of adventure the ending recap montage was great! though some of those dungeon traps are very frustrating (especially those cruel false exits). I played on NSO so I could rewind for the worst of it, but I’d imagine it was nightmarish at times to play back in the day. Still, I had fun and again I was impressed with its scope and ambition especially for an NES game. I also like that it embraced its absurdity such as how the hero, Mike Jones, defeats giant monsters with a Yo Yo and part of how he defeats the final boss with bananas as seen again in the awesome ending montage. I’ve been on a strong retro streak lately, so I’ll probably play the sequel before long.

I'm really having a tough time with Dark Souls 3. Died to that curse-rotted wood boss thing, and then died again when I tried to make my way back to that grotto, so I lost a bunch of souls. Ugh. I need Kirby.

The silence about botw2 is killing me. Xeno 2 came out after botw and xeno 3 will release before botw2. I will be pretty pissed if its not a 95.

Bloodborne released seven years ago today. Still peak FromSoftware after all those years.

Also, wtf, seven years???

I fall asleep with my glasses on

Its weird waking up

“Wow my vision got better what the- oh never mind”

This weekend I went out to buy some bread just after waking up and I forgot to put on my glasses and I was like WAIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO MY EYES before realising

Might as well announce it here as well since this sometimes goes under "general thread" for Famiboards:

New ST thread for the Dragon Ball series (specifically the entire franchise) is finally here.

There's also the Star Wars ST that was made recently in case you're interested in that instead (or both, idk):

those were the deets, weren’t they? I mean of the inscrutable shit I say, those are all perfectly parseable and full of easy-to-extrapolate detail. too much detail, even. but I’m happy to clarify if this is a request.

it’s just less fun than sounding like a cave witch off course

Take your zinc, vitamin C, green tea and stay hydrated, folks.

I'm hoping it's just a two year overdue cold but this sneezing and mild drone of a headache is killer.

FOLKS

I'm sorry I haven't been around much. It's been a busy few weeks for me.

How is everyone doing!!!!!!!

Also I hope that EarthBound notebook comes to North America, if not, I hope one of my European Friends can get me one

Hey guys quick question: does anybody know if you can buy physical rewards with Paypal in the US from My Nintendo Store ??

I'm from South America and "My Nintendo Store" won't let me pay shipping with my south american debit card (fyi with the same card I can buy things on Amazon US, Target, GameStop, Netflix, etc...)

You mean like this?

How comically incomprehensible are we talking about here?

If you knew nothing about this game except for this video, how could you not play it?

...I know nothing about this game except for this video.

I don't think they ship to South America, unfortunately :(

Sorry if this discussion has been done to death, but how does everyone feel about physical vs. digital? I feel like I’m constantly flip flopping on it, which has made my library a bit awkwardly scattered. It came up in my thoughts again today with Kirby.

Lately I’ve been buying single player games (like Kirby and Zelda) physical, and then MP games and games I will continually return to (Splatoon and Animal Crossing) digitally... 🤷

Late replying, but I am physical whenever possible. I enjoy collecting games just as much as I enjoy playing them.

They should really just brand Asano's games as Final Fantasy games. They essentially are in all but name. I could understand if this was still the ye olden days when Square was a bit more conservative with the Final Fantasy branding. But nowadays, they slap that shit onto a ton of stuff, much of which is garbage. So they are not exactly concerned about bad products hurting the overall brand anymore.

I think they want to create new series (like Octopath now its going to have a mobile game and after a console sequel) same with Braverly Default (which is in everything but name a FF spin-off) , being attached to the FF brand could limit the potential as a series (having multiple FF spin-off subseries could get confusing) and even then Octopath Traveler was based more on Live A Live than any FF game and Triangle Strategy it's really different to FFT (it would make more sense to revive FFT as a series than make TS a spin-off)

Yea, I don’t think they should slap a FF label on the Asano titles because that name comes with 35 years of expectations, tropes, and other baggage people attach to the name. It’s far easier for their team to work without needing to worry about cramming in chocobos, cutting edge visuals and FMV, etc.

Edit: Personally I’ve made my peace with the current direction of FF and I’m happy that Square-Enix is allowing development teams to continue making games that harken back to the older design trends while FF plows ahead on its evolution into an action-focused series.

I honestly prefer Team Asano to make game not affiliated to any Franchise outside of remakes, this gives them more creativity which they have shown to make good use of (even if you can see other games influence on the games but that's normal even more when they are making traditional JRPG), just give them bigger budget 😠 .

Like I said, Square has slapped the Final Fantasy name onto a bunch of different products throughout the years. They have diluted the brand at this point. The worry that there are some big expectations and baggage with having the Final Fantasy name doesn't hold much water nowadays. Final Fantasy can range from crappy mobile games, to Crystal Chronicles, to World of Final Fantasy, to actual numbered mainline games. Not all of these have cutting edge visuals and CG cutscenes.

The Bravely Default series started out as a Final Fantasy game on the DS. The BD series still uses the job system, has airships and crystals, elements found in the mainline FF series. Heck, it shares a lot of elements seen in Final Fantasy 14. Triangle Strategy is clearly using Final Fantasy Tactics (and Tactics Ogre) as its blueprint. One of the character's rides on a giant bird. You say it's easier if the team doesn't need to worry about cramming in FF stuff like Chocobos but the team is already doing that, just without the official names at times and often, it's even with the same names. The only thing distinguishing the BD series and Triangle Strategy from other Final Fantasy mainline games and spinoffs are the titles.
