Between buying Crash Team Racing Nitro Fueled and the Mario Kart 8 Booster Pass this week, I'm going to be in kart racing heaven. Let's just hope I'm not sick of driving by next week (cross country road trip).

Boy do I feel bad backing Video Games Live albums on KS. Even though their tier structure was always garbage with a slightly scummy feeling that they were just confusing enough to screw people over in hopes they would overcommit. I honestly hope that whole endeavor was more above board than the Amico seems to be.

Dude... lol

how this amico thing keeps getting more out there

Damn it why did From Software have to nerf my two favorite attacks/moves in Elden Ring in a patch just now? Yes, the mimic tear and hoarfrost stomp were "overpowered" I guess but what the fuck does it matter? I was enjoying using them and experiencing as much of the game as I could without wanting to pull my hair out.

#nofunallowed I guess.

LOL those Elden Ring nerfs

damn, they even nerfed Bloody Slash. It was great early game.

They apparently don't even want players to create their own "easy modes" using mechanics the game offers. No, everyone has to suffer through these broken-ass bosses equally.

This patch honestly may lessen my overall impressions of the game.

It's just the early balance changes, every single From game has these. They drop the power level of a few of the things that are pretty obviously OP or not working as intended, and raise the power level of some things that weren't as useful or didn't quite hit the mark. It looks like a lot of magic and many other things got buffed pretty well, far more than was nerfed.

In Destiny, if there's something that is game breaking or not working properly to the player's determent, Bungie can take days, weeks, and even months to patch up the game. But if player's find an exploit that gets them loot quicker or makes certain parts easier, Bungie will drop a hot fix within two days.

That's pretty common to most devs in my experience. I've encountered similar things in Path of Exile and Diablo 3 and others. Exploits/OP things, or things that the devs decide are too good in the player's favor, get hotfixes; things being broken and not working well enough or things being too underpowered get patched... eventually

I will probably never have $10,000 in physical cash or cash equivalents in my possession in my life and even I know that you have to declare if you have that much when you cross the border or you risk it being confiscated

They do not keep that a secret or try to surprise you

Imagine having $100,000 and losing it because you think the rules don't apply to you and you won't get caught. Legend

Sigh, forgive the venting, and I know I'll regret this post, but I really dislike the influence of the soulsborne genre/philosophy in gaming, and especially the attitude it fosters.

So many games I'd love to be able to play, but I can't, because the developers decided to deliberately exclude people like me. Because fuck people who weren't born with great motor skills or reflexes, apparently.

It's hard not to feel excluded when even the suggestion that a game give the option of being more accessible for us is met with anger, hostility, and derision. Being completely able bodied is a privilege not every human being enjoys.

EDIT: No ill will to those who genuinely enjoy souldborne games but who aren't jerks about it of course, I know not everyone is like that.

No need to regret it or apologize! There's a lot of "git gud" jackasses out there who seem to make it their life's mission to attack anyone who dares mention that a Souls game should really get an easier difficulty mode. It's unfortunate that it's such a vocal group in the Souls community who as a whole, in general at least I think, is very welcoming and happy to help out.

Yeah the whole "git gud" culture is uh... not my vibe either. I have a hard time wrapping my mind around the complexities that a lot of modern AAA games layer into gameplay, and it can sometimes feel more like a chore rather than a hobby. I can't imagine what it must be like to have popular game design evolve in a direction that makes it physically difficult for someone to interact with. ๐Ÿ’”

Honestly buying a house is as alien a concept to me as becoming the Elden Lord in the new hit game, Elden Ring.
thinkin about how I spent the past seven years working and fighting to make/save enough money to buy a house and finally actually met a major milestone this year only to have house prices skyrocket out of my achieved range so uh, I'm doing also bummed ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘
Yeah, that's basically where I'm at. The goalposts are moving away faster than I can save. It's depressing. At least we have video games!

Thank you. :)
I should (and now have) have clarified in my post that I bear no ill will towards the many fans who don't do that "git gud" thing and just genuinely enjoy the genre, best wishes and happy gaming. Just wish I could join in is all.

I'm a Souls fan and will never not support adding accessibility features to these games. There are all sorts of optional features they could add to let more people enjoy these games (or any other games for that matter). There really is no justification as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah. Folks will keep
Saying โ€œvisionโ€ but adding modifiers options isnโ€™t taking anything away. And players thinking it de-gradeds the game is purely being selfish and a fanboy. You can ignore these options. I ignore God mode in Hades since I enjoy the orignal version. But one day I might be in the mode to have some fun without frustration.

A lot of โ€œhardโ€ games go that way too to welcome players who perhaps canโ€™t handled the games. Itโ€™s rather embarrassing too see such a huge defensive from fans who get nothing from the company lol, you ainโ€™t making money from these folks. And itโ€™s a huge shame that the devs really donโ€™t care, they โ€œfeel badโ€ but they show they donโ€™t feel badly in all honesty.

Thank you. :)

Oh no it's fine! I hope I didn't come across as a 'not all souls fans' response, either.

There's just no argument against an easier difficulty mode. Like, if Sekiro or Elden Ring was exactly the same as it is now, the devs still balanced everything the way they do normally, and there was literally no difference to the games as they currently exist - but there was an easier/more accessible difficulty option you can select that tunes down enemies, or lets you slow things down, or some combination of things... how does that negatively affect the game in any way? It doesn't. Anyone who wants the normal Souls experience can just choose normal difficulty. It changes nothing. All it does is allow more people to play the game, or give people who otherwise might bounce off or not enjoy it more options.

lol this is terrifying

Did Nintendo get a new social media manager? Some of their tweets over the past few weeks or so are noticably weirder than the typical corporate boilerplate they used to put out.
Every once in a while they put out something fun. I hope they do it more often in addition to news/trailer drops.

OlliOlli World is speaking to me, but I have so many games in my backlog and I'm working so many hours that I literally cannot pick up a controller until the weekends.

The eshop was down when it launched, but Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is out on Switch! Iโ€™ve played a few rounds already and it still feels excellent. Havenโ€™t played it in years, but a lot of my muscle memory is still there for combos. People are rightly bummed we wonโ€™t get the better netcode patch down the road, but Iโ€™m still so happy to have P4A on Switch. Itโ€™s perfect for it and still means so much to me.

I don't really drink coffee (maybe 2 to 4 times a year) but this morning I decided to grab an iced coffee. My heart is a disco right now.

Square put out a message from the producer of Chocobo GP. Donโ€™t think it addresses everyoneโ€™s issues, but it sounds like a good start.

Personally been having a lot of fun with the game online except for the bugs (giant pauses to get into matches, one desynced start). It borrows a lot from Mario Kart, but has some cool ideas of its own like stacking items and the unique character specials. I do think itโ€™s worth trying at least even with the big Mario Kart update tomorrow. Itโ€™s only been out for a week, but I have Squall already and hit level 20 not playing much, but speeding up the battle pass more will be nice.

I almost downloaded this last week. Are the micro-transactions intrusive and in your face?

Honestly couldn't tell you, haven't played enough to say how MTX heavy it is, just a few levels. You unlock characters, parts and equipment but it's difficult to say what the exact benefits are.

When the Amico was announced, I obviously knew it wouldn't be a success and barely would get a niche audience (would end like a quirk little note in the Wikipedia page about the console generation), but having an exclusive Earthworm Jim game (this before I learned about shitty the creator of the series is, and long before gave up this having any chance of ever releasing lol) had me at least intrigued.. but now this is pass the joke status and is just an ugly and obvious money laundrying scheme. They're not even pretending anymore.

The comparisons I saw with the Zeebo on the SSFF video comments isn't even fair, since at very least Tec-Toy had actually good intentions.

itโ€™s so good, I hope whenever you find time for it that it fills you with joy

see Iโ€™m actually disappointed that weโ€™ve had so few Wii U ports in the past couple years

and I have a Wii U

Well to be fair, there just isn't that much left. It's really just the GCN Zelda remasters and Xenoblade X.

After that, it's just scrapping the bottom of the barrel with shit like The Devil's Third, or games build entirely around the Wii U Gamepad like Nintendo Land and Star Fox Zero.

Thanks! I still haven't bought it (I just got my copy of Disco Elysium -which I haven't started yet- on Tuesday) but every time I see even a mention of the game it brings me back to the trailer and reminds me that I really need to play it. So I'll end up doing it. Eventually.

BTW, I know it's kind of frivolous to say this after we interacted about a game but I'm really sorry to read about what you're going through. Take care <3

I want Yoshiโ€™s Woolly World and Paper Mario Color Splash dammit

I could see them skipping Kirby & the Rainbow Curse since itโ€™s so touch-screen oriented

I mean they might skip all of them but I would really prefer at least the Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Woolly World, and Color Splash

I fear the fact that Woolly World was already ported over to 3DS, as well as the fact that it already has a direct sequel on Switch, may of killed its chances of being brought over.

thank you for the well-wishes โ€” I really appreciate it

this is just what being alive in a pandemic is for us (and we had countless other nightmares before, tortured beautiful little broke-ass lives) so all I can do is try

thereโ€™s always been deep mourning built in. the pandemic just means weโ€™re mourning everything all of the time, and the more other people act like itโ€™s over, the less of our lives we can live.

If they remove the mask mandate soon weโ€™re fucked โ€” we wonโ€™t even be able to go to the fruit market for groceries anymore, which is like one of the few things left we could do when omicron skyrocketed

dunks on the mental health for sure

and omicron 2 is ravaging tons of places right now so yโ€™all stay safe

so knowing that people do care a bit when the whole world at the governmental and individual level is a chorus of โ€œthen perishโ€ โ€” down to the creeps in our hall who wanna be weird and aggro and confrontational about us wearing masks when itโ€™s literally still required and the bare minimum โ€” yeah, knowing someone gives a shit is always welcome

well if thatโ€™s why theyโ€™re not doing it theyโ€™re wrong and they should do it

thatโ€™s my argument, sus out

"NES Remix 1+2, now included in the Expansion Pack"

We did get Hyrule Warriors on both Wii U and 3DS before Switch and if Good Feel isnโ€™t working on a Yoshi title right now then I could see Nintendo wanting to keep the series relevant with a port of Wooly World in the meantime.

Only 15 more days until we see the new Switch, new MP4 trailer, BOTW2 gameplay, and new DK game reveal. Almost requires a bingo card.
