I would like to state for the record that the correct answer, January 40/41, is not in the poll. I am presuming this is a misunderstanding and voted for this "February 9/10" thing instead, since it seemed closest to the correct answer.

you're looking for "may God rest our souls" actually

I still voted for the 17th since that was my gut a few weeks ago, but I’m kind of leaning more toward the 9th. You can just feel that Direct energy in the air, it’s building.

I'm going to be the pessimist here and say we won't see a Direct for a while. (while still hoping it's coming soon)

We'll get Twitter Directs and you'll like them.

Finally reaching the point, do you think Switch Sports Club could possibly be one of their fringe benefits for NSO? With a standalone release for non-subscribers, like Animal Crossing's DLC. I think that model would also work for NES Remix.
This is really the kind of thing I'd like to see them do with the Expansion Pack. It's reasonable to expect that part of the sub to, well, expand over time, given the base sub started at NES + online play + cloud saves but expanded to include the voucher programme, the SNES, and the 99 games. Given the higher price tag, hopefully EP goes through a similar process, too.

I would really like to see a 3D Mario game with the budget of BOTW2.
Don't get me wrong Odyssey is a masterpiece, but sometimes it feels like they could have done more.
With the success of Botw, Nintendo must have pumped a lot of money into Botw2 and I wonder if the same will happen to the next 3D mario.
I just hope it's not just a "more content" sequel, but the game is taking a while to release so I'm confident. Or maybe it takes time because they have to work on 2 games at once.

Not pictured: Wii Sports Club. They would have to change the name, but I NEED my waggle tennis.

The release/monetization model was unique for Nintendo, or any console game to my knowledge. You could rent it 24h at a time, or buy the sports outright individually, or buy the disc and treat it the same as the original Wii Sports. Of course a big part of that was probably a ploy to release the game piecemeal to launch it alongside Wii Party U and Wii Fit U despite it not being wholly ready, in desperate hope that blue ocean casuals would bail out the failing console, and the data on an experimental release model was just a nice bonus.

That would be a pretty interesting way to distribute the game but I'm wondering what's taking so long for any kind of follow up to appear on Switch...

Feb 16/17 is the second most popular option hence the february of february as the final nah-ah to team january. That's me, choosing the correct date. Feb 16/17 it is.

Feb 9/10 is for inexperienced february users who are secretely january folk so it definitely won't be then.

I think 3D Mario has a great budget. They’re all such high quality games as is.
Yes they definitely have one of the biggest budget from Nintendo and they have a dedicated studio in Tokyo just for them but BOTW has to be Nintendo's biggest budget ever right ? It's their more 'AAA' game I think and I wonder if they could do the same for other series one day.

BotW 2
Splatoon 3
Mario + Rabbids SoH
Xenoblade 3
Everybody Switch
Sports Story

I know it’s only 6 games. But it’s very rare to have this many sequels to one previous year (2017) in the same year.

I chose 9th February due to the history of Team Asano final demos releasing roughly 4 weeks before the release date and we are approaching that deadline with Triangle Strategy.

Nate seems to know the direct when it’s coming. He probably just got info on it. Kind of just been reading around on YouTube.

There’s good speculation for next week from posters here.

I wonder what Sakurai is working on now. Is he going to to the next Smash game? Maybe he’s going to give VR a shot now or something else.

He’s probably on good vacation for a while lol.

Everybody Switch is what we're calling a rumored game hinted at by Emily based on some clues she gave us

Stinky Horse... I dunno, ask @Suswave
hey I didn’t start Stinky Horse, I just… (gestures) elevated it

or did I start it, god, what is having a memory like?

I didn't know this was an option.

The lack of Directs in 2020 really was inexcusable, even with COVID. Just incompetence.
do you happen to know what all goes into making a direct?

there’s a massive amount of coordination that it takes to put something like that together, and when everyone you’re coordinating with is thrashed by the same chaotic and earth-shattering event, with no one clear on what their new schedules look like, or if they’ll meet their deadlines, or who’s going to be out with COVID each day or just outright die…

like come on pal it was and is a fucking hell crisis

I’m sorry you only got… (checks)… TEN directs in 2020

minus the one about the theme park that’s NINE

even if they were shorter, or partner showcases, or not what you wanted, that’s still a lot and a lot of work!

so by no fucking means incompetence!

just because you didn’t get advertised to the way you want during the beginning of a global crisis doesn’t mean you get to call it “incompetence” and that shit really frustrates me

This was my first thought.

Then Kate Archer.

Then Joanna Dark.

And then I remembered that James Bond was a thing that exists. I guess I don’t really associate Goldeneye with spying as much as slapping.
I would very much like another No One Lives Forever game. Such a fun series with a great premise. It looks like WB owns the license so probably no shot it ever gets resurrected.

Gut feeling tells me feb 16/17.
Probably going to be a juggernaut direct.
Hopefully Style Savvy is here, been expecting it in a direct since 2020 🤞
