I'll never buy another vanilla Atlus game again, that's for sure. Never even opened my steelbook edition.

It really never fails does it?
By the time this comes out it’ll be 2.5-3 years after the original. That’s a pretty good amount of time - and makes a lot of sense for PC and PlayStation versions.

Hell if there’s a decent amount of new story content I’ll happily pick it up again on PS5 for that + better graphics and frame rate.

Kinda looking forward to seeing some lower profile stuff get a boost at a Partner Showcase. It helps that I don't really need anything from it, but I didn't buy my Switch expecting the latest big budget games.

I'd very much accept Fantasian making the leap out of Apple Arcade, even if I'll complain about RPGs this and not enough time that.

I think there are several more Switch titles coming later on in the year, the 3DS release schedule carried on for a good while (and arguably would have gone on for longer if demand had been there).

What may shift is the promotional push given to these titles, if they now need to carry Nintendo through to Christmas and beyond.

F-Zero GX Remastered suddenly became super important to Nintendo!

These titles are exactly the kind of stuff I was expecting. I was never expecting anything big from this. Was hoping for something that appealed to me but even then I'm not hopeful lol. Hopefully Nintendo will give us a bigger event or at least announce some new first party games over Twitter eventually if nothing else.

I have to attend a funeral on Wednesday, so I guess it's for the best I won't have time to visit this site until after I get home.
damn
I'd say don't let the house burn down, but like...maybe leave something to be rebuilt when it doesn't live up to expectations?
brofield be like after returning:

I know Little Town Hero was a disappointment but I'm still interested in seeing what Game Freak could be showing.
Stuff like Drill Dozer and Harmoknight were great games and I know people have a soft spot for Pocket Card Jockey too so there's potential for another fun non Pokémon game from them.

I know there was that Pand Land trademark from Game Freak last month so that's potentially what they have to show.

Do yourself a favor, and ignore Soul Hackers 2. It's bad.
A couple people have told me that, but despite that, I still wanna play it for myself. Even if it ends up being disappointing, I would still be much more excited to see it in the Direct than a slightly enhanced re-release of SMT V, which is already available on the Switch.

Man after last friday, i could see the Partner Showcase ending up as the least watched / liked Direct ever.
I still believe that all this 2025 shit ends up being false. (Let me have this hope, okay, i turn 40 this week, i need some hope).

Also, is this thread open spoiler talk regarding Pyoro? Guess for safety, i'll put the next part in spoilers.

Game Freak stuff in the Direct? Given Pokemon Presents is likely in the next week, would this mean a non-Pokemon game from them?

Eh, i know only working on one IP could get boring, but i just wish they wouldn't take resources away for such games, which mostly end up being half-baked and not successful at all...

Soul Hackers 2 is such a waste. Whether or not you think it was terrible, it could have been so much more.
Possibly the most disappoiting "sequel" I have ever played. The original game is so wonderful and inspired while 2 has you fight the villain in a reused tutorial dungeon that could have worked in a modern setting.

New week, new hype.

I wonder if the L5 thing could be a release date for Fantasy Life (unless that has already happened?)
I’m very confident it’s Fantasy Life getting its release date based off the prior Level-5 presentation where they mentioned they have a date already, but were saving it strategically for later.

Direct Speculation is the open spoiler and containment thread. You are good to talk spoilers here.

Incidentally, even if the Direct is announced at this point this thread stays open now that Pyoro has dropped a major leak with Game Freak until it finishes airing / shadowdrops. Yay more thread :)

They have already announced they are working on a new IP "Project Bloom", seemingly a samurai game according to the shared concept art.

Placing in spoiler tags for folks who don't want to see , but so far we can potentially assume the following as likely inclusions:

  • self-published Game Freak game (perhaps the Apple Arcade version of Pocket Card Jockey, or the recently trademarked Pand Land)
  • Fantasy Life release date from Level 5 (perhaps another look at DecaPolice?)
  • Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (just leaked through ratings board; doesn't guarantee it's present here because things leak through ratings and then vanish)
  • Penny's Big Breakaway (review code distributed, apparently? Seems set to launch soon)
  • Contra: Operation Galuga (Pyoro suggested a demo is coming)

This list is quite depressing :(

I never tried the first Fantasy Life on 3DS, so I wasn't massively excited when the new game was announced. On paper, though, it's the kind of thing I could enjoy.

More Apple Arcade ports would be welcome, but I need it to include Fantasian.

It's a partial list of things that might be in and it's the exactly the mix of indie, mid budget and Japanese support that comprises the vast bulk of third party support on Switch.

I know :)

Well, Pyoro did warn us not to get too excited.

I know there are contractual obligations, but this kind of Direct is a waste of time. Announcements via Twitter or event like Namco did for Ace Combat 7 or NIS for Ys Nordics are just as effective.

I guess we can at least assume Hollow Knight will be at the Partner Showcase at the very least.

(My general expectations as a gamer were absolutely obliterated daily last week and I decided to keep the momentum going)

You need variety in a workplace to be fair, devs need side projects. I think google encourages that a lot so their programmers don't go crazy. I doubt the little side games are the reason why pokemon sucks.

add silksong and you got a stew going

I know :)

I fail to see how it’s a waste of time.

But regardless, you’re mistaken in that a Twitter announcement or how NIS would be the same as the partner direct format. The direct format will just always get a wider reach in the end. It’s “more”. And no, people being mad at it isn’t making it a wrong way to show off the games.

Fantasy Life is one of the games I'm looking forward to most this year, an update this week would be legitimately exciting for me 😱

I was gonna say that it can’t be a simple repackaging of DLC (SMTV), but then remembered that porting takes time. I would have preferred an Apocalypse ish sort of game
Looking into this game for the first time right now, I see it is presenting people with what they want out of Animal Crossing NPC dialogue:

Thought this was Link’s Awakening for a sec lmaoo

If Atlus is back with SMT V Vengeance, can I dream with Persona 3 Reload
No

This list is quite depressing :(
Chill. It's only a partial list with some speculated titles. Switch is winding down but it doesn't mean some surprises can't happen.

Xbox got marketing. I don't expect Silksong at anything else other than Xbox presentations.

Will say again, this thread is open spoilers. Nintendo General Discussion is the safe zone where no leaks are allowed.

Find it funny that on the Sony thread people are saying Sony should make more mid sized games etc.
Nintendo are trying to show that this week and it doesn’t seem like people actually do want that.
Also there’s nothing announced for Sony or Nintendo after Q1 so I don’t know why people are losing their minds.

I think people would be fine if Nintendo would show/announde mid-sized games in the Direct.

The issue is, it's a Partner Showcase, so it's with 99% certainty only third party projects.

And mid-sized or not, there's a good chance those projects featured in the Direct aren't something to look forward too, given it's third parties and keeping in mind we're at the end of Switch's life.

I don't think people would mind a bunch of mid-size games if they were like on the level of Princess Peach Showtime or Splatoon Side Order.

It's just that everything else announced/released this year is a remake, lol.

Yes, fans need to come to terms with the fact that we’ll only get maybe one or two original games because efforts are currently being spent on successor software. All we’re getting is remasters, and maybe a couple of big games. It’s perfectly normal in this part of the console’s life stage

Like being first place in Mario Kart: we’re only gettint coins lol

This is dismissive of a vast swathe of Switch games, though, including many excellent ones. I get we're on a Nintendo forum but that doesn't mean we need to dismiss every mid-level effort that isn't from Nintendo.

But we're talking about a third party showcase and people are dismissing that before it even airs.
