I just realized the combination of this movie releasing later in the US than most of the world, and social media being what it is, I’ll likely have seen like 90% of this movie before it even hits the theaters here.
Really liking that the text explicitly say "The 8 toys from the new Super Mario Bros. movie arrived on the Happy Meal!"; We are not erasing history! Good stuff McDonald's Brazil!and here’s the last piece missing to confirm what we all knew.
It really is supposed to be Lumalee.
And this is how the sequel will be titlednew Super Mario Bros. movie
Hell yeah, a trilogyThe New Super Mario Bros Movie U
i couldn't tell it was Pratt actually, he sounded legit like someone from Brooklyn. The music being true to the games is joyful, as are all the little nods and jokes, but the most positive element in that clip to me is seeing that the movie seems to have gotten Mario's character right after all. There are many little moments of compassion and joy (and even annoyance when Toad pushes the crowd around on his behalf!) that just feels like Mario, despite Pratt's weak acting.
I still think that it's missing the whimsy and wonder that I tend to associate with Mario (I would assume that's meant to be his character arc, besides him just becoming more of a hero?), but it's certainly the closest that the movie has shown thus far. I'm curious to see how it ends up showing in the less bustling or comedy oriented scenes, because I think that will be key ultimately. If they can nail those scenes, then we can have a decent Mario...besides the Chris Pratt voice, because it still isn't doing much for me.The music being true to the games is joyful, as are all the little nods and jokes, but the most positive element in that clip to me is seeing that the movie seems to have gotten Mario's character right after all. Surprised we didn't see a thread bump for this...
We have a new clip - part of this we've seen before, but we get an extended look at Toad Town as Mario and Toad make their way to Peach's Castle. There's a lot of details and references strewn about, and the music absolutely carries this scene. If the rest of the soundtrack has this much reverence and joy towards the game material, then it'll be a treat to listen to both in and out of the movie.

So close to a new "bad Nintendo news" image
I’M WALKIN HERE
I'm actually bothered he said "floating here" instead of "floatin' here." It's like he's only committing to parts of the accent.Mario: "so these bricks are just floating here?"
I think that there has to be a level of leeway in how excitable he is since the character is, after all, new to an absurd world that flies in the face of logic, specially since there are these platforming elements in the clip ( we know falling off the platform means you die in a Mario game ) so I think those moments of wariness are justified. The story would, I think, seem a bit off if he just accepted all of this weird world without blinking since the major driving threat and motivation is that he is worried for Luigi, so if he found all of this instantly amazing and easy then this strange new world seems a bit less strange and a bit less new.I still think that it's missing the whimsy and wonder that I tend to associate with Mario (I would assume that's meant to be his character arc, besides him just becoming more of a hero?), but it's certainly the closest that the movie has shown thus far. I’m-a walkin’ here
Is each line supposed to represent a foot in imperial height? So Mario is 6' with his hat, Luigi is 6'5" with his had and Peach is 7' tall without her crown?Does anyone have that size chart of the characters? I think the link got taken down.
I found this one, but it's low res. Not sure if the original was the same.
Larry Kong interviewing Candy Kong, voiced by Paris HiltonWait holy shit
Imagine a Larry King-like Kong interviewing a celebrity Donkey Kong for like a solid 2-minute scene of the movie
I am salivating at the prospect of a special edition vinyl recordSo now will this get an official soundtrack release? Surely it will, right?
Glad to see confirmation the movie will be dubbed in Italian
You know.. besides Pratt's flat performance, I think they're going for something closer to DiC's Mario and Bob Hoskins portrayal as well; which is weird in this day and age, but I welcome!I still think that it's missing the whimsy and wonder that I tend to associate with Mario
This is fucking hilarious
One thing Illumination is good at is giving their movies soundtrack releases. So now will this get an official soundtrack release? Surely it will, right?
