Hey everyone, staff have documented a list of banned content and subject matter that we feel are not consistent with site values, and don't make sense to host discussion of on Famiboards. This list (and the relevant reasoning per item) is viewable here.
I dunno about you guys. I know people are down on Sony (with good reason, they haven't been very solid the past two years) and have been been more positive on Microsoft, but here in Europe they are such a non-factor and I'm not that impressed by anything they're doing either.
Thanks to the TGS (and Xenoblade 3) I got out my gaming funk which lasted for several months, but at this point in time the only party impressing me is Nintendo.
Whatever Drake is, or if we're getting a follow up to the Switch, I really, really hope they'll keep followin this path.
Spent quite some money on these physical releases of the Castlevania and Contra Anniversary Collections. Couldn't help myself, the classic Konami fanboy in me cannot be tamed!
Ha, no worries. It's a slow Friday night, I'm sipping beer, I'm also struggling to get into Disco Elysium, but appreciating that Nintendo really did their thing right with the Switch and it will get better in the future.

So after having a kick-ass lunch I spent some time in one of my favorite little parks in one of my favorite towns, but with this slight tinge of worry that with each passing moment the cost of the parking I found was ticking up, up, up, so I couldn't just.. relax and lounge like I wanted to.
I eventually finally walked a few laps, then meandered back to the garage, got in the car and went to pay, and...
$3
For two and a half hours. Biggest W of the day, yall
Doesn't the trailer show tears around the animal thing on the mural? I think it has to do with the tear on the Sheikah symbol. I do think it is a double entendre and it's both, but just pronounced like tears.
This is actually my most anticipated ride at the park. Not even because I'm a Nintendo fan, but the rumored elements of this track sound so creative it's insane.
Fake collisions, "track jumping" across fake track, a fake inversion, jumping over a waterfall, a splashdown effect, actual animatronics and set pieces, etc.
conceptually a VR headset with no backwards compatibility — with how much of a sink VR is and how relatively few things exist for it — is mindblowing
like to some degree I’m an apologist for all sorts of bad decisions when it comes to game hardware. I like experimentation.
but this… from Sony, one of the companies that often pushes hard in a direction antithetical to what I hope for in the “gaming sphere” — in a world where VR is nowhere near commonplace and half the rationale of buying a VR2 would be to play the games people missed the first time around??

I kinda almost think Sony's strategy here is to get people to buy it because "cool new tech!" and then sorta forget they own it after a while so Sony doesn't have to put much effort into actually developing stuff for it. Sorta the same vibe I got from the Kinect.
Also, my phone kept trying to autocorrect "Sony" into "Don't," which is hilarious to me given the context.

The tech powering both is fundamentally different so it was expected. Which is what they should have led with instead of trying to spin it as “it’s so good you’ll never want to go back!”
Yesterday I put a wedge of lime in my amber lager and it was nice and I felt fancy (I rarely get to go out or drink much alcohol due to worsening illness) so from today onwards I will have lime wedge in ALL my amber lagers.*
*if I have lime and or amber lager in at the same time

I've been super happy with Nintendo lately. They, and much of the Japanese studios, are firing on all cylinders right now. But... I was also one of the weirdos that took forever to get a PS3, and even then it was a gift, because I was still happy with a PS2 + Wii.
I'm a simple man, I just want to play Nintendo, Squaresoft, retro, and indie games all in one spot. Switch does all of that and makes it portable. I couldn't be happier, especially with Square now turning out a lot of multiplatform content instead of splitting their games between Sony home consoles and Nintendo portables (which is still happening but to a lesser degree).
TGS has pretty much put to rest any lingering fears I had about the Nier Automata and P5R ports. I think I've told the story before so I'm not going to go into details, but I lost my access to a PS4 a few years ago. I didn't have a lot of games for it (maybe about 10-15), especially compared to the number I have for Switch. But that's pretty much been the case since the PS3 era: my taste for Sony systems has dwindled as companies like Square-Enix simulataneously started shifting their AA stuff to handhelds as their AAA pipelines slowed down.
I'm pretty sure going forward I think I can forgo the Playstation ecosystem and go back to being a Nintendo + PC (as needed) gamer. XBox has never interested me (aside from maybe the early Mistwalker titles). Worst case scenario is that I have to wait 1-2 years for something like Final Fantasy XVI to hit PC if it looks like a Switch Successor port isn't in the cards. And that's going to be like... 1 AAA title every 2-3 years, which to be honest I can barely keep up with all the AA JRPG goodness Square has been putting out lately so it's really not that big of a loss. Between AA Square, Nintendo's own RPGs, and my stupidly large backlog (that goes all the way back to the GBA if I'm ignoring PC titles), I think I'll live.
Castlevania Requiem -> ??? (I guess just get the PS3 Classic of SotN and call it good)
Final Fantasy VII Remake -> PC (I suspect we get a Successor port eventually)PC
Final Fantasy XV -> PC (I suspect we get a Successor port eventually) (I"m still keeping my steelbook CE though )
Final Fantasy Type-0 -> PC (I suspect we get a Successor port eventually)
Kingdom Hearts All-In-One Package -> PC (I suspect we get a Successor port eventually)
Nier Automata -> Switch (Still waiting for DF confirmation, if not PC)
Nier Replicant sqrt(1.5) -> Switch (I fully anticipate a Switch port is announced next year, if not then PC)
Persona 5 -> PS3 (I'm going to downgrade this so I can still have a physical version on the shelf)
Persona 5 Royal -> Switch
Tetris Effect -> Switch
World of Final Fantasy -> Switch
Yakuza 0 -> PC (assuming RGG studio doesn't get their heads out of their arses)
So of my 12 PS4 games: 5 I can play on PC, 2 are really PS3 games, and 5 I can play on Switch.
PS4 is an entirely redundant system to me, and very few of their exclusives really appeal to me (and they're now starting to come to PC too). And PS5 is shaping up to be the same exact story.
I'm very comfortable with my current tastes in gaming, despite most AAA stuff not really appealing to me, I'm and confident that there's enough content creators out there to keep myself and others happy for years to come as the indie boom has been very good to a number of previously thought "dead" genres.
Why should I invest $500+ in a platform that's I'm only going to get a handful of games for when I can get the cheaper platform that I'll end up with 5x more than that, plus I can take it on the road with me? Higher resolutions and framerates aren't worth the extra $200 in my book.
Sony wants to be the Luxury Car brand of gaming I think.
Also it sounds like devs will likely patching their games to support but no one seems to know if the updates will be free or a surcharge like some of the AAA stuff has been for PS4 -> PS5.

Big "rumble is last generation" energy right there.
No you corporate mouthpiece, it's because you were in the middle of patent litigation over your rumble implementation at the time. Funny how when the case was over the PS3 got a DualShock announcement
Getting back to practicing my Bass guitar next week. So decided to comb the mod forums and add some fun new stuff to my copy of Rocksmith. You know, most of these are probably way out of my skill range. Who knows if even half of them are well laid out. But I’m getting back to the bass and the idea of having some of these to mess with seems fun enough at least. Animetal cruel angel’s thesis cover is probably gonna kick my butt to Sunday even on the bass portion tho

I'll start to get excited if this ever gets a Switch port.
I mean, we deserve this. That crappy SF2 HD Remix port sold like 800.000 in its first year. FOR DOUBLE THE PRICE. They said they were looking for ways to benefit from such reaction but nothing followed. 3DS got a miracle port of SF4 while on Switch SF2 was released for 4th freaking time.
A bit over 2 years… Cept I’ve barely played since last October. Finally decided to invest in a new stand for it so i can have it out in the open and get back on top of things. On the plus side it means I’ve weakened my short scale(my beater starting out was one) familiarity which should help me get on top of my full scale nicer base quicker. I have a Sterling Sub ray with a double humbuckler
Nintendo might do a holiday sale although it's hard to say which games will go on sale. They always do a big Mario sale on March 10 (Mario day) pretty much all Mario games go on sale physically and digitally around then. That will likely be the next time 3d world goes on sale for sure.
Oh no, he’s completely addicted to Lycoris Recoil to the point he’s stanning it with shirts
Wouldn’t be surprised if he tried to license it for a game after this season of the anime ends. Could make a pretty cool free flow objective mission game like Hitman around it. Cept with more escort missions and less killing ones
Hot take: Cannabis Sativa is an extraordinary plant and the sooner the ridiculous hysteria, stigma, and criminalization around it ends, the better for everyone.
