They didn't delay it. They haven't even announced it yet. Also, I don't want to buy a new console this year, so this is good for me.
Here's why Nintendo delaying Metroid Prime 4 is bad for Joe the Famiboards user.NYT: Here's why Nintendo delaying the Switch 2 is bad for Joe Biden
True. We will hopefully know more by the end of next month. Nothing will surprise me with Nintendo. The good thing about switch is it does have ana amazing library of games. If we have to wait until 25 there is a lot to play for some gamers. Others will have to do with what they have. They didn't delay it. They haven't even announced it yet.
Nintendo has only revealed games releasing through Spring and there are already more of them than Sony is getting for the entire year.
It doesn't make sense to me that a mobile device is rendered 'obsolete' because it cannot compete with raw horsepower of stationary devices that consume several times the energy. The Steam Deck is objectively weaker than current gen consoles, it is 'around PS4 level' but more modern, but I never see any claims of it being outdated at launch (two years after the PS5) or even outdated now.
Sony having a bad year doesn't discount Nintendo from having one, furthermore the switch receives less third party titles to fill the gap in comparison.Nintendo has only revealed games releasing through Spring and there are already more of them than Sony is getting for the entire year.
Nintendo dont care, if Switch surpass DS/PS2 and become the best selling console of all time(they care of a console that give them profit)Really starting to feel that Wii-era arrogant Nintendo is truly back and the "delay" is just a front.
It's possible that they really want to dethrone the PS2 as the best-selling console of all time just for the novelty of it, and they seem to think a year's worth of compromised third-party games and $60 ports and remasters can push them over the line.
To me there is a distinction between underpowered and outdated albeit a subtle one. The Deck is ostensibly a modern device and I wouldn't call it old tech, but it is noticeably not powerful enough to run something like Starfield at a consistent 30 without significant sacrifice.Disagree with this if only to say that’s part of the reason other handhelds have tried to muscle in. The ROGs whole angle was it was more powerful and runs full windows. Many who have purchased it did for this exact fact OVER the Deck which they deem under powered in certain games.
I'm okay with this because periods of time that would otherwise have nothing can have a tent pole release.
Had they not sat on Fire Emblem Engage and Metroid Prime Remastered, Q1 2023 would've been just Bayonetta Origins and Kirby remaster (and that's if those weren't sat on too!). Had Pikmin 3 DX and probably 3D All Stars not been sat on, H2 2020 would have nothing.
I believe Emily and possibly Nate have mentioned that Nintendo will hold unreleased games in order to maintain a consistent release schedule.
It would be worse if they released half of their yearly slate in January just because it is ready and then would have a 7 month drought before a burst of games in the fall.

It already doesn't have one and it's February. Most likely Prime 4 is this year as well which we've been waiting 7 years for.Sony having a bad year doesn't discount Nintendo from having one, furthermore the switch receives less third party titles to fill the gap in comparison.
We get Prime 4 if we're lucky. If it's cross gen I assume they want to release both versions when the Switch 2 releases. It already doesn't have one and it's February. Most likely Prime 4 is this year as well which we've been waiting 7 years for.
Pokemon for sales, Prime 4 for (less) sales and prestige. Dread was a fall title too.We get Prime 4 if we're lucky. If it's cross gen I assume they want to release both versions when the Switch 2 releases.
It also isn't a prime candidate for holiday sales I think. I don't see families getting the new Metroid for Christmas.
all the third parties launch everywhere else. except the ones they locked down which also launch everywhere else but later. and yeah third parties do sell the best in playstation but steam is catching up and if there's a switch version that will also sell well. not surprised then that playstation is dipping. those exclusives are still important.Sony having a bad year doesn't discount Nintendo from having one, furthermore the switch receives less third party titles to fill the gap in comparison.
Part of this is it’s a newer space spear headed by the deck. So competition got to see what the deck was doing and try to out do it so to speak. Plus the space was new so there was more room for rapid innovation and advancements. To me there is a distinction between underpowered and outdated albeit a subtle one. The Deck is ostensibly a modern device and I wouldn't call it old tech, but it is noticeably not powerful enough to run something like Starfield at a consistent 30 without significant sacrifice.
But yeah to others there is no distinction, if something is underpowered to run a modern game acceptably then it is therefore left in the dust. In that case I see why some would consider the Steam Deck to be outdated.
This will bring up some interesting scenarios where the Switch 2 runs some games noticeably better than Deck with console optimization and DLSS - Baldur's Gate 3 is a title I can see hitting a comfortable locked 30 while the Deck struggles a bit.
I think the fact that they didn't reveal Metroid in the Fall Direct makes it very likely it's being saved for Switch 2.No one will agree with me and I know I'm crazy for saying it,
But I'd be much happier about the Q1 2025 release if I knew Metroid Prime 4 wouldn't release exclusively on Switch 1 hardware first. Delay it to the launch, make it cross-platform day 1. Being a launch lineup game will give it more life and momentum in the new generation as people give it a try with their new system rather than being marketed/mentally tied to the old-and-gone generation.
If they do that, I'll happily accept Q1 2025 because that means the system will come out swinging with big, brand new games like Mario, MP4, etc and keep on feeding us more bangers from there. Will give Metroid Prime 4 that shiny "next-gen/new-era" aura and feel like Breath of the Wild, ARMS, & Odyssey did for Nintendo. Probably won't happen at this rate unless Metroid is behind schedule too :/
You'd think, but now that they have a full year gap, it'd give them motivation to release it for the Switch 1 instead of waitingI think the fact that they didn't reveal Metroid in the Fall Direct makes it very likely it's being saved for Switch 2.
I don't see a benefit to stopping the crossgen release at this point. It would be harming their Switch 2 momentum in favor of short term gains. Prime 4 will probably be more important for filling out the early Switch 2 calendar than the late Switch 1 calendar. You'd think, but now that they have a full year gap, it'd give them motivation to release it for the Switch 1 instead of waiting

Why would they reveal it a year in advance? They revealed Mario Wonder just months in advance, and that was after the Mario movie became a global smash hit. Furthermore Prime 4 of all games I think they have good reason to wait until it has basically gone gold considering it's history.I think the fact that they didn't reveal Metroid in the Fall Direct makes it very likely it's being saved for Switch 2.
Y’all can’t just count Fire Emblem 4 as just a remake.
It’s a game that was never released outside of Japan in the first place. Unless it’s Japan. It’ll be new to everyone else.
BUT! The again. It ain’t official so maybe we shouldn’t count it for anything yet lol
The reports suggest that the reason for the delay to Q1 is to bolster the first party software lineup. You'd think, but now that they have a full year gap, it'd give them motivation to release it for the Switch 1 instead of waiting
easily MP4 should be cross-gen as it has the most to gain compared to something like Fire EmblemIt's interesting that across all the threads talking about this, that people want different games to be "held back" and pushed more explicitly as a cross-gen title, whether it's Fire Emblem 4 Remake or Metroid Prime 4. I doubt Nintendo would move back too many games, else they'd dry up their output this year... So, if you had to pick one to move forward into next year and one to keep this year, which would it be?
For me personally, I don't want them to hold back anything. I'd be cool if they released everything that's finished tomorrow! Won't stop me from buying new hardware day 1 lol. It's interesting that across all the threads talking about this, that people want different games to be "held back" and pushed more explicitly as a cross-gen title, whether it's Fire Emblem 4 Remake or Metroid Prime 4. Don't worry about it too much. I can't even tell anymore when I'm being serious or sarcastic.I can't tell who is being sarcastic and who is being serious anymore, please help.
Super Mario RPG was at least released in Europe prior to the Switch on Wii / Wii U VC and in English and even then, it's a completely different situation from Fire Emblem 4, a game basically no one in the West played unless they either knew Japanese or used a fan translation. Remaking a game that was previously unreleased in territories does matter a lot more than most other remakes and bumps up the intrigue a lot more. Other things like Live A Live and Shadows of Valentia on 3DS also fit this bill. It matters much less they're remakes in that case.Super Mario RPG wasn't released in Europe and the remake is the first time I've played that game. Does that mean it's not a remake anymore?
I'm still in the denial phase when it comes to Metroid Prime 4.
I just want to see this game so badly that it's actually hurting me to accept that it's going to be another year before I even get to see what it looks like.
The Switch 2 news, I'm fine with, but with Metroid Prime 4 I'm just so exhausted. It's been almost 7 years.
I think this might persuade some people to think that they'll hold back Prime 4 for a cross gen release but we have to keep in mind that Metroid 6 is most likely in development and for all we know could be a late 2025 game, so I think they already have the carrot on a stick to get Metroid fans to buy the new system. The VGC pod last week were talking about how, within Nintendo, Metroid is now viewed as a vital franchise because even though it doesn’t sell many copies, it shifts a totally disproportion amount of hardware for a franchise that ‘small’. The thing is niche, but to it’s niche, a total system seller.
Remember this?I think it’s pretty clear no one especially in gaming media knows any hardware plans from Nintendo since the “Switch Pro” and Nintendo just been giggling ever since.
Yes Eurogamer was right in 2016 but it’s no longer 2016. Whatever openness existed Nintendo made sure those holes were plugged.

He's trying to say that we should stop taking rumors as absolute fact. Are you trying to say that these rumors are false?
Not really but it definitely not second hand information or even third. Probably fourth maybe fifth at this point and yknow how rumour mills go down. None of the information is coming from Nintendo directly, just peripheral partners and I doubt it’s from proper ones who’d risk jeopardising their relationship with Nintendo. Are you trying to say that these rumors are false?

Just like "Microsoft will leave console market" that rumored before, that damaged Xbox community. He's trying to say that we should stop taking rumors as absolute fact.

It’s okay to conclude the gaming media doesn’t know much in this aspect and they haven’t known since 2016 but they won’t admit it.
Remember this?
Narrator: It was, in fact, not true.
I can’t remember where I read the post (here or Era) but did someone say Nintendo have made more revenue or profit from the Switch gen than Xbox brand has made in its history? Did I fever dream that lol.
gun shy.Is there any particular reason why VGC would wait to publish a rumor like this from their own sources, instead choosing to piggyback off of someone else?
Do you know what I mean? Like they claim they have their own sources that confirm this info but they for some reason waited to be second in line to share this.
