I can't believe it needs to be highlighted again but folks, there was a fucking pandemic in 2020. The pandemic is still going on. I would think the stories coming out of DICE, 343, etc. would tell you how disruptive the pandemic has been for game development. Because you all didn't get a Xenoblade 3 trailer at fucking Game Awards of all places is not an indication that there are development problems or that it's secretly being held back for a 4K Switch. Development can be "going smoothly" in that there is nothing fundamental flawed or broken with the game. It could mean that the team isn't crunched by Nintendo to make up for lost time. Development can be going relatively smoothly while still being affected by the pandemic. Even if a game wasn't impacted, there is a domino affect of other games getting delayed. If a 2020 planned game gets pushed to 2021, it likely to the spot in the schedule that was meant for another game. So that other game then gets pushed into a later spot which pushes other games out and so forth.

Frankly, gamers assuming the worst in development simply because aren't getting new info shoved up their assholes every few weeks has been a problem for years. There has been an assumption that if a game isn't frequently shown or a new trailer doesn't show up when internet nerds expect it to, then that game must be in development hell without evidence to support that conclusion. You're projecting that you see in the horror stories that came out of things like Anthem but I remind that Anthem's developments problems were revealed because of extensive reporting and testimonials by actual employees. Not getting trailer at TGAs is not equivalent to that. Game development is a difficult task and no game is without its development issues, setbacks, and obstacles. But until it is reported otherwise, I don't think it's fair to always assume each and every game is in development hell because of....whatever dumb reason you came up with a 3am in the morning. Maybe, just maybe the teams behind these games are just working hard make sure the final product is as good as it can be and things will be shown when they are ready.

I take it you read @lemonfresh's troll thread from earlier

Yes but it's just an issue I have been seeing lately. This particular comment was more of a response to Xenoblade 3 talk in this thread. For some reason, some people think that because it wasn't revealed at the Game Awards, it not must be a 2023 game, forgetting that Xenoblade 2 was revealed and shown in the same year. Then there are others thinking that Nintendo must be sitting on Xenoblade 3 to release on the Switch Pro because they can't comprehend how a game with "development going well" can be released a year after its initial planned release (ignoring the pandemic which delayed most everything in gaming).

Final semester assignment submitted. Responsibilities fulfilled. Entering nap phase. Direct Hype Phase will follow.
Know that feeling, had that Wednesday. But I’ve been too busy handling other stuff to chill. Tomorrow I may have to take care of a thing or two before the storm hits (temps permitting)but otherwise I should have some nice chill days to relax and dig into SRW X and some other games. Think it’s time to sleep for today tho

3:20pm and the workday passes like molasses in the wintertime

But I convinced the bossman to let us get off an hour early so we can all play Jackbox games over Zoom, so that's not too bad haha

No joke, I played Jackbox with my coworkers over teams today

My thoughts are starting to go in this direction, particularly for xenoblade. Assuming everything we've heard from insiders is true, how is it possible that a game whose development has supposedly gone smoothly, could be delayed by a whole year, minimum? Are they saving it for a hardware revision or something? Either that or the smooth development thing is just straight up false, or it was never meant for this year at all, or something. Something has to give.
I mean:
  1. We really don't know it was delayed a full year.
  2. There's kind of an ongoing pandemic.
  3. Nintendo sits on finished games a bunch.
I'm using a Switch lite. No chance for that.
You can plug Ethernet adapters directly into the Switch's USB port. I actually have a type-C one lying around specifically for this purpose.

Nintendo is sitting on some games because their developers are too busy playing their own games which are so good that they’ve actually forgotten that they’re suppose to release them to the public. Then they just frame it as “delays” when really the developers are just unable to put down their controllers and finish the game. Why do you think BOTW kept getting pushed back?

We're getting AI: The Somnium Files - nirvanA Initiative in 2022, the year is already saved.

Ai along with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax and Advance Wars are my three most anticipated dated games for the first half of next year. 2022 is currently dire for dated games for me considering two of those are old games. It’ll get filled in though.

I still need to play the first one - it’s been on my list a while, looking forward to picking it up soon now that SMTV is done.

I'm really hoping the AI sequel gets rid of the gameplay portions of the game. And by that I mean the fucking puzzle sections fucking sucked. I ended up just using Youtube walkthroughs each time because the trial and error stuff was aggravating and I just wanted to get to the story stuff which I was deeply invested in.

How else would you show off Super Mario Odyssey to your young adult friends at the rooftop party
With one of these:

sorry there was a bar in the town I went to college that was across the alley from a taller building, and a couple nights a week they'd take chairs, table, and a projector up to the roof and play classic movies against the wall of the neighboring building and it was such a rad idea that now whenever I hear "rooftop party" I think "projectorrr"

It was the biggest complaint about the first game so I'm sure they have changed it for the sequel. I'm guessing we'll get a new trailer during the February direct.

pro tip: if your wifi on the switch sucks (which is a very high chance ofc) just create wifi hotspot in your computer and let switch connect to it, signal is just better ofc because it's closer and overall works great for me

I see there's been a cloud discourse this night, and here's my 2 centra: the only real problem I have with cloud games of games that's not feasible (key point) on the Switch is the pricing. It's absolutely awful, especially here in Europe.

80 dollars for a streamed game just is just bad.

very very late to the party but Journey really is that good wow

It's the best (now former) playstation exclusive. It's one of those rare experience that awakens all possible emotions inside of me.
I'll need to replay it again once I get a PS5 some time in the future.. or if they come to Switch. Not really interested in the PC Port.

I'd say it's one of the best games of all time.

Damn, finally finished this track. The mashup of Michael Jackson and Carly Rae Jepsen.

Made it sound crystal clear and polished. I'm actually... happy with it

Yoooo this is gonna be my personal themesong this weekend! I LOVE it!

Don't forget to do the Tetris 99 event this weekend! I did it tonight....and I did very poorly! But I eventually got that theme. The sounds/music are pretty fun in this one, even if the visuals are kinda meh.

Hi Guys, I am not sure which thread to ask this in so let me know if there is a better place for this but I need help:

So, I have had a Switch for about 3 years now with multiple games. My older brother has wanted a Switch for a while and my sister and I decided to surprise him with one which we will be giving to him next week. I am not sure if he is in the position to buy games at this stage so want to give him access so he can play the games on my system.

I know there is a way to go about it but not sure where to even start from. Any help would be appreciated.

I might be wrong but I'm not sure Zippo was ever debunked as a fake leaker? IIRC he was banned cause he didn't agree to go through Era's verification process.

I think he was the first person to talk about a new Mario Party in 2021 and the article says he talked about P4AU before TGA. Both of these could be good guesses, I suppose, but I don't know.

Ofc there's going to be more Persona related things announced over the coming year - Atlus even said so much themselves.
Would it be shocking if P3P came to more platforms? Absolutely not

I'm sure Zippo has had a couple of rights here and there, but Mario Party 2021 and a persona related announcement in the year they celebrate 25 year? Yeah that's not exactly bold. Everyone was expecting Mario Party and of the Persona related things getting announced this year P4AU definitely was high up on the list.

I always thought Zippo was banned because he was obnoxious - not because of not agreeing to be veried.

I would love a Persona 3 on more modern platforms. I just want to burn some dread using mass destruction.

I know that they are 2 different games releasing on different plateforms but why Square Enix HAS to release Babylon's fall and Triangle Strategy on the same day

Has been considered as a fake leaker for a long time in our community for good reasons. His behavior whenever he was doubted didn't help.
Anyway, he only ever said obvious things ("a new Mario Party is coming soon..." when it's been 2 years since the last one) or totally wrong shit (his whole Sonic blog post fiasco for instance, among many other things)

Halo Infinite's save system is irritating me. I had a Warthog and four marines ready to storm a tower, had to save and switch off so waited for a checkpoint, and when I reload it, the save has booted me back to the nearest base, no vehicle, and one marine.

I get that the save system is working as intended in this scenario, but it's disruptive to how I'm playing and to immersion. I did a little sequence of play where I rescued 3 marines, then picked up another marine near his upturned warthog. The save system means acting as if those in game events never happened.

Astounding game. Beautiful ending. The way other players show up is really impactful imo, and a good example of meaningful interaction without non-diegetic communication.
I'm tired of Persona rumours but...Jon did like this, maybe there's hope?

I’m so used to giving… 😭

Edit: oh I clicked the link lol

For physical games just lend them to him lol

For digital games you have to deregister your own Switch from the eShop profile menu (don't delete your profile as this will delete save data as well) and then sign in to your brother's Switch with the same account. This will make his account the 'Primary Console' and he can download and play any of the games you own. After doing that log back in to your own console and you'll be able to play your games again. There are catches, though:
  • You can't play games at the same time - if one of you is playing and the other starts a game up the game being played is paused
  • Your own Switch won't be able to play games offline anymore unless you make it your Primary Console via the same method. Any time you start up a game on your 'secondary' console you'll have to do an online license check.
I did this process when I had a OG and Lite for a brief period of time and it worked well, but of course there was no risk of me playing two consoles at once there lol.
