How is the input lag? Is it noticeable and does it affect the timing of combat?
Haven't had any issues with it yet personally. Was able to get double jumps just fine - haven't quite nailed guarding yet, but even in the OG I had some trouble with that, heh. Game seems to run fine so far graphically too.

I assume the new Elden Ring story trailer is straight up the intro cinematic. FromSoft never misses with those.

Has anyone gone into the infamous 'fog room' in Zelda yet to see if they updated the emulator at all?

Biding my time and waiting for a few more "How deep is the rot?" threads before I post my own thread:

There are so many "how deep is the rot?" threads on Famiboards: how deep is the rot?

I dunno why, but everytime i read "How deep is the rot?" the Bee Gees song "How deep is your love" starts playing in my mind.

I kinda hate that.
Well, at least now I'll find solace in the knowledge that I'm not the only one.

Same, i had it in my head all morning yesterday at work, which probably serves me right for browsing Famiboards at work

So we now have seven NSO N64 games without a release date:

  • Custom Robo (JP only)
  • Custom Robo V2 (JP only)
  • F-Zero X
  • Kirby 64
  • Majora's Mask
  • Mario Golf
  • Pokemon Snap
If they keep up with one new N64 game a month, we should have all of these games by August.

Though I'm curious if Nintendo is gonna compensate for the western services considering both the Custom Robos will be exclusive to the Japanese service. Maybe they could add western exclusive games like Killer Instinct Gold and Cruis'n USA for us in the same updates.

But considering it's Nintendo they'll probably just update JP NSO and give absolutely nothing to the US/PAL services lol

*'Cause we're living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
We belong to you and me*

Please make it stop.

How deep is the rot in NSO?

I remember that, just before this year's February Direct, the calendar was basically bare beyond New Pokémon Snap in April. Then came the Direct filling the calendar until August iirc, with NMH3, and announcing Splatoon 3 for 2022. Now is a little bit different, we have a lot of important games already slated for 2022 with no exact release date yet, so maybe the Direct will at least give a more clear launch window to titles like Kirby, Mario+Rabbids... Along with new game announcements, and that's when we can expect something of Metroid Prime Remake and maybe Fire Emblem. BOTW2 is an E3 game, Splatoon will probably be at E3 as well and get a Treehouse segment. In regards to Bayo 3, i have no idea, but i would say it won't appear in the second Direct in a row.

How deep is the rot, Fami?
Tell me what it's gonna be
Now do you see yourself Yeah!-ing with a poster like me
On the low though so your friends won't know, see now

[Sisqo vocalising]

I hope Glom doesn’t feel too bad about the rot jokes lmao. There’s no shame in creating Fami’s first meme, you’re a trailblazer!

To tell the truth, The Game Awards made me feel like this was pretty much a filler year in term of games. Yeah, it was cool to see Metroid Dread and Psychonauts 2 as the nominees for the GOTY Awards (the only games from the list that I played), but, honestly, I can't call them the GOTY material (Dread is great, but not groundbreaking, Psychonauts 2 is as good as the first one, but for me it lacks in the level department (I mean, levels are great, but I wanted something more like tabletop/milkman/theater levels from the original, which really stands out from the rest). But well, my GOTY is the collection of 3DS games from 2015 and 2017, so it's more like my personal preferences.

My guess would be something like:

February -
Reveals for Fire Emblem (May/June), Xenoblade (2022), an EPD game (2022), casual horse stinker (perhaps - this could be a standalone reveal)
Dates for Kirby (March/April), Splatoon 3 (June/July), Advance Wars (April)

E3:
Dates for Zelda (November), Bayonetta 3 (October), Mario + Rabbids (August/September), Xenoblade (September to December), EPD game (September to December)
Reveal & date for Metroid Prime HD (September to December), first look at Prime 4

That's 13 first-party releases that year, plus Mario + Rabbids and Triangle Strategy. There'd be a bit more, really - more third-party stuff published by Nintendo outside Japan, plus some eShop titles.

Anyway I just watched the Sonic Frontiers trailer and I really think everybody overstated how influential Breath of the Wild would be. Looking forward to starting Halo Infinite later.

In the words of a broken heart
It's just emotion, taking me over
Tied up in sorrow
Lost in my sou- Nope, that's not it either!

Thinking about the make-up of next year's software line-up, and right now it's potentially very single-player focused. Things which might normally have some multiplayer mode or emphasis - like Kirby and Pokemon - look to be single-player only. On top of that, you've got Zelda slated for 2022, plus rumoured single-player games like Metroid Prime, Fire Emblem, and Xenoblade. Advance Wars has multiplayer modes but I'm not sure how big a draw that is, and obviously, there's Splatoon 3 as a big (online) multiplayer title.

My guess would be Emily's Casual Horse Stinker Game is multiplayer orientated (local and online), but that there's also another major multiplayer title hidden from sight just yet. Gut feeling at the moment is new Mario Kart is late 2022, because Nintendo are a publisher who usually have some big local multiplayer emphasis most years (Mario Party and Mario 3D World book-ended this year, for example).

That’s more or less entirely how I feel about the line up at this point with the first Direct possibly being a January one following the minimal Game Awards presence and Zelda only being penciled in for November because of a potential delay. I want to believe they’ll make it, but won’t be sad if they don’t. I guess I’m also throwing Mario and Rabbids in June for now.

Come on, it's common knowledge that there's only one true Team, Team February.

Once enlisted, you're in for life.

How does everyone feel about open world Sonic?
In theory, it's certainly an interesting idea. Wide open spaces that Sonic can speed across could be a fun thing to build a game on.

In actuality? Sonic hasn't had a good 3D game since... Generations? I doubt Sonic Team are somehow going to take on the ambition of an open world game, and fix up all their previous issues on their last successive games.

Very cautious. Makes perfect sense and is something that I wanted, but I don't trust Sonic Team. Ian Flynn coming to write the story is a net positive. However, this is 100% a game y'all going to have to play on other platforms, but this is going to be a technical mess on Switch considering how Sega has treated the platform as an afterthought.

I can only hope 5 years is enough time for them to get their shit together

I've said it before but I'll say it again. Not giving us the ability to purchase the NSO expansion for less than a full year is bullshit. I'd like to check out the service for a month or two to be able to play the games I want to play. I get why they want me to subscribe for a year, but I won't. Not even once they added F-Zero X.

I think the idea has potential but the graphical style looks unappealing and I don’t think Sonic Team has earned the benefit of the doubt. Don’t want to be negative about it but it’s also hard to get excited, you know?

just... big yikes
and i thought this year was gonna be one of the better ones with geoff's incessant hyping.

Yeah, I stopped watching after Frontiers. Complete waste of time (happy for people to be recognized for their work, but that’s what this show needs to be).

Damn, I'm glad I chose sleep over Geoff.

I want to say sorry to the Cross fans because I know I contributed to TGA expectations. However I'm still 100% convinced the game is real, all the evidence is still there, TGA reveal was just an assumption based on timing.

The Xenoblade people were completely delusional lol, as a fellow fan I don't even know what to tell you other than you should know better at this point, just gonna quote one of my old posts:

Expecting anything xenoblade to be shown at game awards is just straight up delusion lol. Just go full zen and try to forget anything you have read. Whatever info insiders had is clearly either outdated or not reliable anyway.

not sure why everyone was positive we wouldn't see botw2 because nintendo wouldn't use tga for a big game like that, considering botw had been at tga like 3 times before it came out.

You were right, the game wasn't there. The part about insider info... What makes you say that?

Tbh, I don't think 2022 Fire Emblem is a thing and I guess Xenoblade 3 will be a March 2023 game.
This lineup is already complete:
Pokémon Legends Arceus + DLC
Triangle Strategy (West)
Advance wars
Casual game
Kirby
Mario + Rabbids
Splatoon 3
Monster Hunter DLC (which would take the summer slot)
Metroid Prime HD
Bayonetta 3
Breath of the Wild 2

Fill it more with third party games and the year is already pretty stacked. Why would Nintendo release ALL of its big games in a single year and have nothing for 2023.

Even with what we already know we have the chance to experience one of the best year on the system, we shouldn't be too greedy.

This is a great list, but I still think we get a 2.5D Mario to coincide with the movie release. It just seems like a no brainer.

That would still mean we didn’t see a new game from the Mario Kart and 3D Mario teams for 5 years (!). I really hope they have something fairly soon
