Reminder to self: donโ€™t run washing machine with exterior drainage when itโ€™s 20degrees outside and the sun isnโ€™t out yet. Otherwise you get overflow into the house.(itโ€™s gray water and there wasnโ€™t a sewage feed for it so itโ€™s hooked up to a hose in the yard to water things. Also shouldnโ€™t be using it in storms. Definitely need to do my laundry today and tomorrow, thereโ€™s a 5 day storm coming)
So we now have seven NSO N64 games without a release date:

  • Custom Robo (JP only)
  • Custom Robo V2 (JP only)
  • F-Zero X
  • Kirby 64
  • Majora's Mask
  • Mario Golf
  • Pokemon Snap
If they keep up with one new N64 game a month, we should have all of these games by August.

Though I'm curious if Nintendo is gonna compensate for the western services considering both the Custom Robos will be exclusive to the Japanese service. Maybe they could add western exclusive games like Killer Instinct Gold and Cruis'n USA for us in the same updates.

But considering it's Nintendo they'll probably just update JP NSO and give absolutely nothing to the US/PAL services lol
Iโ€™d imagine the Custom Robo games will double up

Could you guys stop giving me an almost 24 hours replay of How Deep is your Love in my mind? ;_;

I had a dream Emily confirmed the new MonkEPD was real, and I woke up thinking it really happened. Now I'm sad.

Doesn't help discord Fam Donk appreciate good puns.
I feel you, Iโ€˜m so incredibly excited for that game. It wouldโ€™ve been nice to not have the rumors, I canโ€™t imagine the surprise we wouldโ€™ve had. Never thought Nintendo would take the ape in-house again

Gosh, I hope itโ€™s the next Directโ€ฆ.

Don't worry, there are just some delays because they want to announce it the same day Katy Perry's new single 'Radical Dreamers ~ Unstolen Jewel (Katy's Version) (10 Minute Version)' drops.

Imagine being a 2D Metroidvania game based on an old (but all time classic) anime. Done?

Now imagine delaying the one version that's likely the most successful one (next to PC) but keep the Xbox release unmoved.

;_;

Datamine shows that they have (at least) planning to release 38 games in total, including the 9 ones they released at launch. One game per month means it will take 29 months, but as you said, it can happen that they release a JP only game one month and at the same a USA/EU only for us.

If that happens, it will take 27 months to fill all datamine spots. They will finished by february 2024.

And there is also 52 games datamined for genesis app. We already got 17 and wouldnโ€™t be surprised we will get mora than 1 per month so they can fill all datamine spots by the same time they do it for N64 app.

I don't get something. Mario Kart 8 DX is the perfect Mario Kart. But how come did they support the mobile game so much better in post-launch content? While MK8DX got nothing, when it clearly still can be the new GTA5 of this generation? Like, they could just ride MK8 to the sun as a GaaS, but they chose not to.

They're riding MK8 to the sun as a bundle system seller instead

Mario Kart Tour and World Flipper are the only mobile gacha games I like.
The only gacha game I like is Xenoblade 2. ๐Ÿ˜

I dunno why, but everytime i read "How deep is the rot?" the Bee Gees song "How deep is your love" starts playing in my mind.

I kinda hate that.
Are you me?

because mobile games are free to play, they require constant engagement

Just catching up on the morning news. Nintendo announce the Banjo news this early due to low expansion membership? Seems strange to do it the day paper Mario comes out.
Or they are showing they are listening on people being frustrated by an unclear schedule on additions. Although info on NES, SNES and Genesis would be nice.

it was so funny to me when TGA ended and someone here said something like "oh prepare we will have these botw2 is not 2022 because it was not on TGA" oh boy was he right
That thread got locked so I will say one final thing about it.

I framed that thread completely wrong, My point was not that it not being at TGA means it has development problems but that fact that it didn't get any big showing all year, it really only got a small trailer at e3. And that could hint that the game may be more far off than we expected. (even aonuma or bill said I think that we might get another reveal of the game later in 2022) It had really nothing to do with the TGA's itself cause I pretty much expected it wasn't going to be there. It was more about a larger discussion about the game development as a whole. I should've explain myself better in the OP. but now its locked. It's best to forget about that thread

It takes a lot of energy to freeze your pixels into snow

Edit: Though I guess this is specifically expansion pass family plans. If you mean normally family plans, I think that's not covered yet? @bellydrum?

I'm interested in the expansion pak so this is great! Thanks!

Could be that thereโ€™s 4 JP exclusives thatโ€™ll double up making 2 years of support just like the main lineup of Snes did.

Also Genesis is probably getting batches due to the easier emulation and wider pool of games but I guess weโ€™ll see when(also itโ€™s likely 54 on Genesis, Vectorman 1 and 2 would be after the final known slot and are about the only games that could be)

They had to say something since the Goldeneye on NSO reveal planned for last night was pushed because Nintendo deemed the Keighleys to be too small time for such an announcement.

With the E3 2021 trailer, the latest theoretical timeframe for it to arrive would be Holiday 2022, in my wildest dreams 2022 meant March 2022 again

BOTW's blowout was at E3 2016, release was March 2017, so over 6 months between full blow out and launch.

I think we can say it's "more far off than expected" if by E3 2022 there's still no full blow out reveal.

My neck has been hurting since I woke up, my head is spinning and I can't relax. I had a hefty lunch yesterday so I wasn't really hungry in the evening, and ended up accidentally skipping dinner while watching the Keighleys. So now I'm very hungry and trying to figure out what I want for breakfast but the only thing I seem to want to eat is a time egg.

For no reason, for a second i thought that Klonoa encore could have been at the GA, but of course it did not made any kind of sense

I love how, intentionally or not, the Fami snow falling varies in speed. Right now it's a damn blizzard for me lol

Wow Paper Mario has arrived, I need to finish ai the somnium files first then I will play it. I also have Kirby and SMTV to complete before Legends Arceus. And I just started Halo Infinite yesterday ... it's going to be TOUGH

Hellblade 2 gameplay reveal
Alan Wake 2 reveal
Star Wars Eclipse revealed
Wonder Woman revealed
Sonic Frontiers 'reveal'
The Expanse reveal
Arc Raiders reveal
Suicide Squad gameplay reveal
Elden Ring story trailer
Matrix experience shadowdrop
and more..

I think one of the things that bugs me the most about all of these is how much they feel like media conglomerate mashups

it's like the disney megalith franchise cannibal shit

fasten your seatbelts for some SPICY TAKES

So we've got:
  • Star Wars Eclipse โ€“ A booster for Disney-owned space pulp squeezed dry
  • Wonder Woman โ€“ DC answering the Disney-owned MGU to tie in with their cinematic efforts
  • Suicide Squad โ€“ literally see the above
  • The Matrix โ€“ big blockbuster tie in, which, neat or not, looks like it loses the allegory pretty hard
  • The Expanse โ€“ Another Telltale game that takes a (semi-)popular franchise and gamifies it
Leaving:
  • Sonic Frontiers / Movie Promo โ€“ I mean it's video game but given how the video games are doing vs. how the movie did...
  • Arc Raiders โ€“ maybe its own thing! but the fact that they use "enlist" in their trailer suggests subliminal ties to Disney-owned gigafranchise The US Military
  • Elden Ring โ€“ Thankfully it seems FROM enough but considering how big of a deal they made about it being a project with literal Game of Thrones writer George R. R. Martin, they're still trying to capitalize on that franchise appeal
  • Hellblade 2 โ€“ its own thing, a sequel to a good medium-size game! that's really really really leaning into the Norse mythology popularity wave that uh... could also basically be considered a franchise, and got a clear wave-start from once again literal Disney-owned MCU sub-franchise Thor
  • Alan Wake 2 โ€“ okay, this one's wild, hear me out: they started considering this sequel when Stephen King books started getting turned into movies again. I give it credit for mostly being its own thing... but there is a specific wave it's riding, coupled with the success of Control
depending on how you count, that's either a perfect split or a wildly exaggerated zero

and then let's talk about other things shown + things that are either getting shows / movies or were literally trailers for shows / movies
  • Cuphead โ€“ good indie game! sure! why... why is it getting a Netflix series?
  • Halo โ€“ look I don't even need to clarify this point
  • Star Trek Resurgence โ€“ oh my god it's literally the people who split from Telltale to do licensed Telltale stuff (I support their revenge but like wow)
  • Fortnite โ€“ literally crossover and licensing gigahell
  • PUBG โ€“ begging everyone to come back from crossover and licensing gigahell because technically they were first
  • Fall Guys โ€“ we're gonna LICENSE THE BEANS in our kinda bland streaming-oriented game, here's literal Disney-owned franchise Tim Burton
  • Among Us VR โ€“ okay okay I can't stop laughing about this one. at least it's a game! it is full blown memetic because of itself, not because of others. but there's something to be said in here about how streaming is changing games and how that feedback loop starts to run parallel to shows etc
and what was one of our potential moonshot Nintendo hopes? literally nostalgia for a licensed James Bond N64 game

everything's getting shows and movies and crossovers and I'm sick of the fucking multiverse

some of these are definitely extra sarcastic but it speaks to what The Game Awards is and what The Game Awards wants gaming to look like

I frankly really dislike that Nintendo is pushing for IP expansion and the Mario movie. I think something I liked about games is that they were their own thing, and most "game movies" were destined to not work out. It's not that I wanted games to be inaccessible or their own "niche" but not at all actually niche pocket โ€“ I just wanted them to be, like... about the medium.

or built with the format as a key part of it, you know? fun for the sake of fun that is informed by playing. or challenge that makes you invested in the created world. or saying something important in a way made more poignant by the mechanics or your influence.

games will obviously still be games

but seeing this list of projects and how things have been going makes me feel... idk, like a bit of foreboding and loss

as things stratify, these megagames / TGA games are what get money, attention, and investment, and to compete with that, you have to be part of it

there are still truly outstanding and original indie games but so many of them can't keep up

Nintendo is a bit of an island. a gigantic island with their own problems. but it feels like one of the last big pillars of games as games. and they're committed to IP expansion right now.

I think they'll always be committed to the games first. but I'm a little worried.

that's my (latest) enormous rant, thanks for tuning in

the pinnacle of games canโ€™t be getting a movie or a tv show

otherwise itโ€™s not games that youโ€™re celebrating

Maybe they'll do some localization and bring them over to the West like they did with Sin & Punishment ๐Ÿ™ƒ That worked out for them last time when trying to reintroduce an existing IP, right???

That NerdStreamFillRatio reads so funny to me as if they took the whining of Twitter's conscious and shoved it into the N64 emulator out of spite instead of fixing the fog lmao

Everything after italicized I read with the same syllables as Psycho Killer and now that's stuck in my head.

I did this to myself, but I still marginally blame you for using those eight words in that order ๐Ÿ˜‹
