Direct didn't anger me just a little underwhelmed. Direct gave me Another Code Recollection, Diddy and Pauline + Daisy's circuit in MK8, and Tomb Raider collection so I can't be angry at it. Besides its obvious the Switch is winding down now. I was also hyped for Mario vs DK but not sure on $50 just yet. I did almost think there wasn't going to be a final announcement when they said they were doing a recap of all the games though. Also still hyped for Princess Peach, and Mario RPG. Cautiously optimistic for Detective Pikachu, and I'll probably get LM2 and Paper Mario despite not being too hyped right now.

Can't believe I played Tales of Arise earlier this year and now it's getting a DLC years after release.

I also replayed Sekiro earlier this year. Your move, FromSoftware.

Nah, there where 3, sacred stone was also released.

Looking through the list...yeah, outside of the handful GBA was really huge with A grade third party releases, and those are...rare on this service. And they also don't put Pokémon on it, so...
Ok. I always mix up which ones were on GBA or DS.

That dislike ratio...

One day I will overcome my aversion towards spooky games and finally play Resident Evil.

So, 29th February 2024 for FF7 ReBirth means exclusivity should end roughly around august, right? So PC port by end of 2024?

Maybe Remake and ReBirth are even both launch window for Switch 2?

I don’t even think that F-Zero 99 is a test.

I think it’s just coming out first and the GX game is real. Just not something they wanted to release right now.

Got a shipping confirmation for Baten Kaitos and Live A Live. Hard for me to get worked up over a meh Direct when I've already got a backlog full of old shit amyway

This one is only a three months exclusive, so it could even be a launch title for Switch 2 if it releases in June after a March reveal like some have suggested on the hardware thread

Despite having played through SoulSilver earlier this year, after watching one YouTuber I've never watched before gush over Crystal, I find myself going, yes, I'll play through Johto again this year at some point.

Crystal + romhacks is still the GOAT Pokémon experience

Honest thoughts about the Direct, I thought it was decent.

Look, we all know Switch 2 is coming and Nintendo has to start putting developers onto games for that system. We also just got TOTK, Pikmin 4, Xenoblade 3: Future Redeemed, and soon a new 2D Mario. The teams for these games were obviously not going to announce anything. But with that said, I think the releases coming up are solid. Yes, lots of ports and remakes of old games but this is the time to focus on that stuff. People are always asking Nintendo to bring back, port, or remake this and that. Well, they are doing with that some classic and cult hits. These are the type of games that don't sell consoles but benefit from having a large install base. Mario RPG, Thousand-Year Door, Another Code, Mario vs. Donkey Kong. These are are all titles that are going to be over 20+ years old. Nintendo is bring back these titles for a new audience, many of which never had a chance to play them.

F-Zero 99 looks legit great and people should be excited that Nintendo chose that franchise as its next 99 title instead of the many other series that frankly, would probably do better financially. It's an obvious sign that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about the series and wants to bring it back in some form. Maybe this is only the beginning. Peach is finally getting a new game and it looks very different than other Mario titles.

I always say that if you find one thing in a Direct that interests you, then it was a at least a decent Direct and there are a few things I'm interested in. I get it if you are still upset that we haven't seen Metroid Prime 4 but I'm confident that Nintendo and Retro are working to make it something special and it will be worth the wait. For others, remember that rumored games are just that...rumored. Nothing is guaranteed that these even exist, let alone showing up in any specific Nintendo Direct. I think FE4 remake is coming. It's just a matter of when.

Yes, it looks like the Switch is slowing down but there are some really solid games in the pipeline which is what we want to see near the end of a console's life. And there's always the next Nintendo Direct. I remember this time last year that many of you were upset that Nintendo Direct and now people are debating whether 2023 was the best year in the Switch's life. There's always more stupid shit for us to buy and get hyped about. Throwing a temper tantrum today. Shitting your pants in excitement tomorrow. That's the Nintendo fan life.

where are people getting this 3 months number from? Cause it sounds like the Sony-Square partnership is definitely weakening if that’s true.

Ganondorf Amiibo is more expensive than the Zelda one. Didn't know that Nintendo was charging based on size. In that case, the Link Amiibo should have only cost around $5.

With just 2 more minutes to go, let me directly say that @xghost777 you knocked it out of the fucking park as this Direct's speculation thread host. It's been so, so much fun, and I thank you for all that you've done to make this a peak Fami moment!
Thank you Irene! It was such an awesome time hosting the thread :) I’m really glad we all shared such a wild and wonderful lead up together. Trusting the process (no regrets!), the return of Raccoon, the avatar bet bloodbath, so many fun new members like Shareholder Batman, and so much more made it an unforgettable journey :) Thank you again to everyone who posted and helped make the thread such a fun time!

Ok. Now that F-zero 99 exists and I’m certain Nintendo read the website to get the idea. Let’s launch out next request…

Wave Race Gameboy 99!

That's it. The final Direct of the year. No more until next year. Guess I'll just...play games.

Psst...hey kid. You looking for a little bit more hype and speculation?

I don't know. Got anything Metroid?

I don't know. Do you trust the process?

I do.

Then step this way child. I might have a world premiere or something for you in my back shelf this December.

I second this. It was a fantastic thread, and you really killed it picking out out avatars for everyone that are even close in color and look to their old ones. It was a really fun time!

We should do some kind of bet on
a) what releases this year
b) what gets localized
c) what gets released and localized this year
I expect every game to get localized. So far the only title I'm sure that will get localized and released this year is Inazuma 11 though.

Megaton Musashi Wired’s selling point is worldwide release. It’s also primarily going to be a collection of previous content so the biggest thing is the localization.
I’ll bet on it making it worldwide this year. Loser has to use a Cutie Honey avatar for a month

Separate Ways announcement somehow turned this into a good day after all.
What do I always say? Capcom > Nintendo baybeeeeeeeee!

I wish they would have shown one more game tho, don't want MH to overshadow DD2 but Mega Man wouldn've been cool

...

Still sad about no DK or Metroid

Ya know what

Nintendo sending low-hype games to TGA for years, just to get us into a position where we don't expect anything big from them there anymore, only to then drop the Goddamn Prime 4 re-reveal at TGA 2023 after it being a no-show in the Direct, would be some marketing.

Prime 4 would be a great game to have the reveal be accompanied by a roaring live audience. You don't get that with Directs. This post stared as me joking but I actually now think it'd be a good idea.

If the Switch 2 were already revealed, I think they might show it at TGAs, but I get the feeling they want to wait to show Prime 4 on the new hardware first, probably at the reveal event. Which I don't see happening before next year. But hey, here's hoping!

Yeah, Drake kinda muddies the water with everything, huh? Especially with all the unknowns about how they'll handle backcompat or crossgen and stuff, lord knows if Prime 4's gonna be a single cartridge that works on both systems, or if the Drake version will be sold as its own separate thing, or if both versions would even release at the same time.. It's all weird now.

Actually speaking of the succ I just had a thought

What if F-Zero 99 is actually to hold us over for a serious F-Zero game (be it new or remastered)... that's waiting for Switch 2 so it can be locked 60fps with modern graphical detail?

That's the thing, we're firmly in "What if 'X new game' isn't shown yet or revealed because it's coming to Drake and saved for the new graphics to show it off?" territory and it's going to be hard to say one way or another until Drake finally appears. I had the same thought, though!

I have been following the Future Hardware thread since before Fami was a thing and even I am not looking forward to "but what about Switch 2 tho??" being a prevailing question regarding every game released or rumored from here on out. 😅

Don't give me hopium. I'm tired, boss.

For an end of generation direct that was pretty fantastic, F-Zero 99 is a lot of fun, Showtime seems great and TTYD remake looks gorgeous. Sure we were yet again deprived of the 'troid but I can't pretend to be disappointed with the direct for that alone.

It won't be too bad unless the reveal is really late 2024, IMO. Hopefully it's early in the year and we just avoid a lot of that.

Hate to say it but it's the right audience, I can picture Geoff rubbing his dorito stained hands in anticipation

Is it just me who's happy we didn't get many big games in the direct?
At this point I'm hoping they're just saving everything for the Switch 2, even some smaller stuff like WWHD/TPHD. I'd rather have 4k raytraced WW and TP than just 1080p versions on Switch.

I'm actually in a similar boat, somewhat. I'm pretty well loaded up on releases through around April 2024, so I don't really need anything else for awhile. Save it all for a massive Switch 2 blowout, that's my hope.
