Everyday in the morning, with a big cup of hot coffee, Geoff search the internet for any articles recently posted with the word "E3", so he can tweet out about his own events. It's his daily routine.
Ha. This made me chuckle.
This I hope not. There is something very satisfying in being physical present at reveals.
Some may not like it.. It's the future going forward now.

You have 24 hours to buy the deluxe pac or the unlock mode pac for Pac-Man 99

I should have gotten these when they’re err half off, but I didn’t think it would be shutting down so soon. I think unlock mode is worth it as that gives the single player options and ability to still play this after Oct 8. Included a video of all the themes in case someone wants to have those but they are just cosmetics (and some are actually impossible to tell what’s happening).

Nope. Gamescom and TGS show there is a huge audience for physical events next to digital events. Both can exist and both are the future.

I see you're a fan of Nintendo's E³ where they announced Reggie and TP.
Haha, let's be honest, that was legendary! But there are so many more brilliant moments. Extreeeeeme, Cammie, Don Mattrick x Kojima awkwardness (was that E3? I believe it was), all the great interviews in between by all major outlets, the weird small spin-off shows during downtime from the big shows.

E3 might be gone but its legend lives on haha!

Looks nice. Reminds me of DuckTales remake by Wayforward. IMO every Disney 16-bit classic should receive a hand drawn widescreen remake. Next up: Either Quackshot or Cold Shadow!

God I can't wait til Darkwing Duck gets onboard the remake train

Hating is a full-time job and as an amateur hater myself I really respect Geoff's work in this field.

More Switch 2 rumors and smoke is a good thing, even if I'm not super interested in the details and specific speculation. But if things are really heating up and there's a lot of smoke building, at least that means next year seems pretty certain. The only downside is we're probably not seeing anything about it before early next year, which will be a long time to wait.

Yeah, it sounds like late-ish 2024 is the current target but they're trying to move the release up. Depending on how early they go they might have to show the system this year.

Somehow my mind created "Gargoyles Quest" from "Gargoyle" and I got hyped and immediately pulled to the ground with both of my feet again sigh.

I think they have announcement slotted for every next year and then can just io the release date. They don’t need more than a 2-3 month lead time if they can move production up. If they can’t, then they have the ability to show stuff off at trade shows, etc. either way I think works well enough.

I doubt it, I think they're going to try to have this holiday season be completely normal and not mention Switch 2 at all until next year. Even if they launch it in summer or even April-May, I think they can still do just fine with showing nothing before early 2024.

I won't pretend to understand even a quarter of what's been going on in the HW spec thread since I put it on ignore back in April, but I think what disappoints me (if I did parse this correctly) is that the SoC used would essentially be functionally as old as if not older than the Switch SoC was when it launched in 2017. If they waited to 2025 they could have access to one ('Odin', I think was the codename thrown around) that would be freshly matured and have even more capabilities while maintaining cost efficiency.

At least if it came out this year it wouldn't have been dated so quickly, but woof. 2024 release year after believing in hype and rumours for so long that "this year is gonna be the year!" for three years straight feels like the worst case scenario (for what will otherwise be a remarkable system and what it's capable of...I only lament that it could have been more).

A ~3 month lead up to a console release seems quite extreme to me. Is there anything comparable (that isn't the Saturn lol)?

I don’t think it matters as much anymore as long as the back end stuff is all squared away (supplier contracts, brick and motor/online retailer ordering system, devs lined up). The consumer will probably be excited right away and if pre orders are lined up to launch at announcement, then what’s 3 months versus 9? That’s my thought anyway.

I bought Lunacid on Steam, it's still in early access and today I found out that the dev is dope

My game has customizable pronouns with an option to just write in whatever the heck you want.

And pronouns are only ever used in like, one particular option from a random array of strings when the character is killed, and the effort to put it in wasn't trivial!

I'm doing it less to make people mad and more to be inclusive but making people mad is always a plus.

Me on December 31st, 11:59pm, 2022: Jeez, will people stop raiding every game thread and talking about new hardware? All people do is complain. It's all about the games games games. Splatoon frame drops? Splatoon who? It's only in the lobby! I don't see what the big deal is

Me the moment the clock strikes midnight on January 1st, 2023:

Switch 2 ... I need it ...

I've been waiting for new hardware since Animal Crossing was chugging trying to maintain 30fps on heavily decorated islands 😅

The Deluxe Pack and Mode Unlock DLCs for Pac-Man 99 will stop being sold tomorrow. I was watching for a sale before they went away, but unfortunately neither has had one since March. EDIT: I'll clarify that the Deluxe Pack is a superset of Mode Unlock, so you wouldn't need both to get everything.

I wish they'd held off on spilling the beans at least until the Direct aired because now Direct Speculation has become basically hardware thread lite :V

Will Nintendo finally learn their lesson and just call the new system the "Nintendo Switch 2" or are they going to try to be cute about it an potentially fumble the marketing again?
They'll call it Nintendo SwIItch, just out of spite now 👀

Man as you get closer to the end of OOT I forgot how many Silver Rupee puzzles there are

Kinda has the vibe of "we have to get this game out by Christmas no matter what and we can't make any more assets"

Not a huge complaint but kinda funny

Aaaaaaaand I just lost my Zora Tunic to a Like Like because it respawned in an unreachable place then faded away. At least I'm not far in before resetting

As much as I love "Super Switch", I feel like it really wouldn't be future-proofing the brand.
