Tropical Freeze better get a significant sale this Black Friday, I hate having that game trapped on my (packed away) wii U

I'd also bite on Skyward

Just found out The Sinking City is 75% off on eShop and the sale ends tomorrow. I have enough gold coins to pay for it entirely; is the game worthwhile?
I can't answer that, but the devs did put a lot of effort into porting the game. They had a GDC presentation on it

I should have waited with Tony Hawk, Need for Speed a and Monkey Ball for this Sale. Jumped on Cruis’n Blast. First look, this is not all all an impressive looking game. And I’m playing in the OLED Switch. Even Asphalt 9 looks better. Hope they put some updates out to fine tune the graphics.
Guess I should go back to Astral Chain (bought day one with a voucher but didn’t get far), or I might go back to Wonderful 101 or Pikmin 3, they all should look nice on the OLED screen.

Given that we have word from Nintendo President that Switch is only half way through its life cycle does anyone think we will get a Switch type of sports game? Resorts or type.
Do we also think that next Mario kart will be on 1st Switch and not next Switch?
What is the next casual game from end 4?

It says both on the website and on the e-shop that the supported languages are japanese and chinese?

But I'm sure you could get a refund anyway, unless the agent responding to your case is without the persona heart.
Oh, I do accept that, but unless you're non-English speaking, I can't see many people looking at supported languages on the US or UK eShop... It's something I will totally be checking in the future now!

Maybe it's partly my ignorance but I did make the assumption that unless explicitly stated (like when Nintendo sometimes brings over a previously unreleased game a la the Hanabi festival on Wii) games purchased on the UK eShop will have some degree of English language support at a minimum.

I do feel it's perfectly fine for non-English games to be sold on English stores, though! I just wish it was more obvious when they are.

Is Bayonetta 2 ever going to be on sale? I bought and beat the WiiU version a few years ago, and wanted to give it a go, but I am no in the mood to pay $40+...

Same situation with Tokyo Mirage Sessions... Come on Nintendo throw me a bone!

yes, actually. there are rumors of a casual game that even contacts at Nintendo think is a "stinker" (confirmed not a pun, the game just sucks). it doesn't have Wario but a horse person might show up. that's all we know.
......

Pin this post for the history books because as someone who has fallen off the face of the internet I can't tell if this is a late April Fool's joke or actually serious....

(I gather from the other replies that it is very much serious which....well i will keep an open mind because people thought Mario+Rabbids would suck, too, and now look at it, but...)

people here will tell you that the switch is half dead, with less than a year left to live. honestly, it had a great run. botw and odyssey were enough to solidify its worth
Schrodinger’s Switch: it’s always simultaneously alive and dead.

Half dead? Nah it’s at least 3/4 dead.

I've just accidentally purchased a non-English game on the UK eShop. It was a visual novel I've had on my wishlist that went on sale for the first time. The description is in English, and the trailer has English subs... And to top it off I read a review of the English localisation for PC before I purchased. Admittedly, the box where it says supported languages only lists Japanese and Chinese... But I didn't even think to check...

What are my chances of getting a refund?

I'm in bed so will give it a shot after work tomorrow as I need my console's serial number to contact Nintendo.

Can't believe this game is on the European eShop without a bold warning it is not in English or any other European language. Oh my days.

The game in question is: https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/Christmas-Tina-2005016.html

If anyone is interested in the title you can buy it in English from Manga Gamer.

That sucks. Good luck with the refund! If European Nintendo customer service is as good with their refunds as they are with their warranty repairs I wouldn't worry (just be glad this didn't happen to you on psn, because Sony's policy is "You launched the game once, you lose"...yes I will never get over that).

Lmao

Speaking of FE, I'd like to see a new Tokyo Mirage Sessions, the only FE game I actually enjoy playing. (Yes, I know, I should play SMT5)
That’s not even a Fire Emblem game in all honestly. It’s been restricted to just references but as a whole, it didn’t take much from the games. If that was the direction it was going, it didn’t need the crossover reveal. It did more harm then good in the end.

Tho this type of game never really has a good chance of succeeding.

No, the reveal did no favors to the game, which is sad. Its legitimately great.

Possibly too late, but I thought it was just okay. The setting is super bleak and kinda interesting but traversal is such a pain and the gameplay gets extremely repetitive pretty quickly. This might be remedied by just going through the main missions ASAP rather than do a bunch of side stuff like I did.

Ugh, seems like I got hit with the very first hardware malfunction in my Switch history so far. My OLED is draining around 50% of battery in standby mode every night, while it should usually drain around 6-8%. Have to see if it‘s just the battery charge indicator being buggy and fix it myself tomorrow, which would be nice considering Pokémon and SMTV are waiting to be completed, or I‘m forced to send it in for repair otherwise.

I'm about a year late to the party but Hades is so good! The genre never appealed to me before but I'm so glad I tried it. The characters are fun, combat is great, and it's really satisfying when I finally beat a boss. I finally beat the 2nd boss, made it to the third and did not come close to winning, but I know I will keep getting further as I play more. I can totally see why it was on so many GOTY 2020 lists!

I too was late. Probably one of my fav games of all time. And it's perfect for the switch or any handheld

Personally, I want at least one more full, great year from it. Once 2023 hits, then I'll be fine with them replacing it.

It's so close to claiming the #1 system of all time in my book, it'd be such a shame if it was cut short prematurely, and for me 2022 is just too soon. It'd be like replacing the PS4 in 2018.

I can't really agree that it's just references. Setting aside the game play elements, the plot of the game is intrinsically tied to the original Shadow Dragon games.

The switch may continue to sell for a couple more years but switch dane Is def coming in about a year or 2 from now and Nintendo will probably focus their teams on that going fowards. Next year should be the switches swan song year

These things completely contradict each other lmao

So I saw bravely default 2 is 26.99 on Amazon. Do I pick it up as a fan of jrpgs? I don’t think it will get that price again and I am not sure when exactly I’ll get to it.

Especially considering I just bought Origami King at that price
There's a demo of it, you should try before buying it.

This is a dungeon crawler with old school feel to it. Not many new additions over Bravely Second but if you want another one of them, that looks much better than previous ones, you definitely shouldn't skip it. God knows when it'll be at that price again.

I actually disagree about it outliving its technical ability.
It's still more than capable of running the kind of games it mostly gets; Nintendo games, indies, AA games, third party exclusives, and a few AAA PS4/Xbone ports. As a Switch owner I'm still quite happy with it and don't feel it needs an upgrade yet.

Whoa whoa wait, do people actually think the base Switch is gonna lose support when Dane comes around? I thought the reason Dane was gonna work as an iterative successor (rather than a clean-break new generation) was the fact that the Switch and its games are already built with multiple hardware profiles in mind.. so games will have the handheld profile, the docked profile, and soon simply a new Dane-specific profile, rather than having to be made for the Dane only. I mean yeah, I remember Nate said he knows of a handful of third-party Dane exclusives for which the base Switch just isn't powerful enough, but do we really expect Nintendo to start building games so graphics-heavy that they'll ditch the rest of the Switch family almost immediately? Even their stuff that is intense like Xenoblade and Bayonetta I'd figure would still have 720p/30fps profiles on Switch and Lite (okay more like 540p/20fps on Lite but still 😅)

Some people are in denial of the fact that generations are more or less meaningless now.
