Yeah, we don't even get ESRB/Korean/Taiwanese rating leaks anymore. I want to wake up to good news that's Tales of Arise getting rated for Switch. Or Xenosaga HD Trilogy. Or Viewftiful Joe View-per Collection. Or Monster Rancher 3-4 HD.
Funny enough a ton of rating leaks are from Namco :ROFLMAO:

I might give Arise on switch a second chance. I played the demo on PC and I was not a fan of what I played.

Btw, on a more serious note, is it just me or has gaming news been sllllooooow. Nothing really exciting is happening right now. Publishes and studios quite coy on details.

Or maybe it has to do with that our weirdness is just there
April is almost always dead, it isn't usually until mid-late May when we start to get some leaks/rumors/etc. for the beginning of summer announcement season. We might get something SMT-related later this week at the SMT Concert event, but if nothing else there's earnings next week + Zelda reviews + Zelda. Then I'd bet late May we'll start to see things liven up some more leading into SGF and the XBOX show, plus IIRC there's a Playstation Showcase that's supposed to be happening before SGF.

I know deep down that SMT anniversary show won't have shit but I keep holding on to that rumor of an Xbox version of SMTV.

I can see that playing out three ways: 1) It's shown at the event, 2) It's inexplicably not but does show up at the XBOX show in June (XBOX got the marketing for the Persona ports first after all last year), or 3) There's absolutely nothing either way. I'm not holding out much hope but it'd be nice to see something this week.

it's been an inevitable GTA5 port for like 5 years, not sure how inevitable it is tbh
Yes, it's taking longer than expected, but I'd sooner expect to see GTAV announced for Switch or nuSwitch before GTA VI gets an official trailer

Anyone else just really nervous and jumpy while browsing forums and such? I just clicked on a thread full of images by accident and I was like "ZOMG ZELDA SPOILER??!??! oh it's just Kirby"

Fuck Tears of the Kingdom. It's all about Redfall this month. Who's with me?

sadtom1.gif

Posting a Tom Brady gif is a bannable offense here.

Zelda wait cycle has desensitized me. I had no hype for BOTW until I had it in my hands. Same for TotK, no hype at all didnt even watch the last two trailers. Probably no hype until the 12th.

Any word or rumor on when Tears of the Kingdom reviews will drop?

I seem to remember that Nintendo usually allows reviews to go live a few days before release.

If I play more than 2 I end up not playing any of them, and even 2 is hard lol. Right now I'm playing Samus Returns 3D and slooooowly playing Persona 5R in the background. Once I beat Metroid, I'm dedicating all my time to P5R until TOTK is out. I've metaphorically cleared my calendar for the game, but I guess it's possible I do all I want in it before June.

What I have been doing is alternating playing games and reading manga... but I guess manga is kinda on hold while I do Japanese lessons.

It is very rare for me to do this. Normally I am strictly a one game at a time plus whatever multiplayer I'm messing around with. Basically, I started with Wind Waker, but took a break so I could finish it in May. I then started Forspoken thanks to the Gamestop deal. Well long story short, I had to dog sit at my mom's last weekend, so I brought my Switch and Advance Wars. Fun juggling act going on here.

There's certainly a big question mark over the future of big third party games on Switch, but thankfully it still has plenty of smaller stuff en route; Sea of Stars, The Plucky Squire, Silksong, Phantom Fury, Warhammer 40K Boltgun, Turbo Overkill, Oxenfree II, Another Crab's Treasure, Trine 5, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, Ghost Trick...

This is where the rise of indies has been a massive boon to the Switch, because they generally don't rely on high end graphics and as such are more compatible with the Switch's lower specs.

Well there’s the first route of Nier replicant down, what a ride! Now for a breather by starting xbc3 future redeemed tomorrow to try and knock it out before ToTK. Tho for tonight it’s time to climb into my loft with my switch and work on AWRBC or TGAA2… not decided which yet

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Build-A-Spoilers Workshop Thread
"Linebeck is a recruitable ally that you find by finding his drifting ship somewhere in the western oceans. You have to beat a kraken to get to him, too."

So many Zelda threads, you'd think this was a AAA release or something.
Can confirm, whenever I see TotK stuff I say "AAA!"

There's certainly a big question mark over the future of big third party games on Switch
And the Switch 2 is coming sometime in the next few years anyway. They'll late-port everything they can, as goes the cycle.

Why do I have a feeling that Microsoft purposely scheduled Redfall so close to TOTK so any backlash would get buried by Zelda hype?

It's probably more like "We gave you an extra 10 months. We said the game would be out within a year of press conference last year. We're not giving you more time and money. Here's the final deadline".

I'm just about ready for Borderlands 4. Wonderlands didn't quite scratch that itch.

The first teaser for Borderlands 3 was so insanely hype.

Redfall reeks of desperation by a Bethesda from before the acquisition. Games like Wolfenstein II, The Evil Within 2, and Prey failing to hit their marks so quick, make a live-service co-op loot game. There were even reports that before the acquisition Redfall was going to have microtransactions.

Hopefully now with Game Pass Arkane can go back to making immersive sims like Dishonored and Prey.

Jesus Tapdancing Picklechips, why did nobody tell me there was an incredibly accurate Smash Bros episode in the new season of Animaniacs????

The music, the VS screens, the graphics when they get smash attacked and when they blow up offscreen, Mario stealing Luigi's spotlight, it's all there. There's even a quick shot that mimics Kotabe's art. I'm blown the fuck away.

"Hmm, I need something TOTK, maybe I'll peek my head into the Non-Spoiler Spoiler Thread..."

five seconds later

Annnnnd that's enough, time to bounce

Hey, does anyone have any good recommendations of great anime series on Netflix to watch while I abstain from YouTube?
Little Witch Academia, Aggretsuko, and Castlevania are great Netflix exclusive anime.

This BotW replay might be going too fast. I only got the DLC and 19 shrines left to find. I guess I could spend a week with an Age of Calamity replay though.

If that’s real (there was rumors about the port back in 2019, I think ?), THQ Nordic really is the third-party GOAT on the Switch

The wait for TotK is getting progressively awful. I started ignoring Zelda threads a couple weeks ago, but this last days have been incredibly difficult - too much spoilers to dodge everywhere, and an increaseangly urge to take a peek at the streams that are already playing it. Only a week to go, I guess! I'm trying to spent that time with Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair (finished last night, great one!) and now DKC2, which I never played. I'm also starting a fresh file (the 154th one) of Oracle of Seasons for the Launch Party thread. Only one week, only one week, only one weeeeeek!

Me this morning: "Holy crap, it's actually May already. Feels like it was just New Years yesterday..."
Also me this morning: "Holy crap, why is it still 9 days until TotK? Won't time move at all? Screw you, time."

Any word or rumor on when Tears of the Kingdom reviews will drop?

Next week. I'd say between 3 to 1 day before launch is a solid expectation timeframe.

Would it be a bad idea to play Xenoblade 3 and TTOK simultaneously

Well, it's not that Nintendo-Ninjas will arrest you if you do.

But!

We're talking about two massive games. Like ... absolutely massive ones. Even without the DLC episode for Xenoblade 3.
So the question you should ask yourself is wether you have the time to switch between them.

I just started Mobile Suit Gundam, the original anime. I want to experience the whole series so it will take a few years of my life lol
Enjoy, it's something special. Fittingly, I was just watching the second movie from the Reconguista In G series, which is the last work in the Gundam series from the same head writer that did MSG (and multiple other later series).

The anime world will be less without Tomino.

is smt iv still rumored? cuz lol at the idea of playing that game on one screen.

Major respect for starting there, because that is rough by modern storytelling standards hahaha
Maybe a little, it has its dud episodes but I feel the core narrative and major emotional beats are still all very compelling, and it has a killer first episode. It was also my first Gundam show back in 2013 and now I've seen almost all of the major series.

I do think the movies are more accessible to newcomers, they streamline the story and trim the fat, but also some stuff that I really like is lost or strange pacing choices (namely how the Battle Of Odessa is handled). Both versions have their pluses and minuses.

The real best version is the Gundam Origin manga which I just finished reading a little while ago, it's by far the best version of the OYW and probably the single best Gundam narrative in general, but I think it's best appreciated after experiencing the anime version in some form.

Personally, replaying XC3 is for me less about “do I have time for this?” and more about “am I emotionally prepared to live through this again?”.

and it has a killer first episode
Don’t get me wrong, I adore the original Gundam too. My handle on a past weeb forum was even RedRX782!

But from my experience, people find it hard to watch the original, even the movie versions. Much better success rate with recommending one of the AU shows like Wing, 00 and IBO. Sometimes even Turn A.

OK I am now officially really hyped for TOTK. I am still iffy on some things but I can't wait to play it just gimme it

Looks like it's finally official:

I played it a little on Game pass and it's fun. Cute little slasher. And if the recent Remnant port is any indication this is gonna run just fine.

Yep, THQ Nordic is killing it on Switch. And this is not the end of it, we'll probably get Gothic trilogy, Wreckcreation, Destroy All Humans 2 and even Second Sight HD remaster...

I'm thinking of asking for the go-ahead to move the Direct thread up to this Friday, May 5. This way we'll have a few days to establish our predictions before the financial results on the 9th. Then we'll kill time for a few days before the thread shrivels up for Zelda. Thoughts?

Also, I'd love to hear some title suggestions. My current one is alright but it's partially a raccoon joke which generally I'd prefer to avoid for the sake of inclusivity.
I’d prefer after Zelda personally since there is no chance at all of Direct news until then. For a title I’ll suggest:
