Was planning to spend my gold coins on some random game on my eshop wishlist but with Zelda coming and me being knee deep in Ragnarok, I might just end up using them for the vouchers because of that stupid expiration date

Who’s excited for Advance Wars this Friday?
Who else is suffering cause they don’t know when it’ll make it cause they got the target discount deal but they’re infamous for shipping out on release day?

What is your dream/most wanted retro game collection port or remake?

Within a 7 day period, we are getting these three collections! I have always been a big supporter of making classic games available on modern consoles. There are so many great games that are locked on past hardware, but they are still just as playable in 2023. We are in an age where just about any collection of games is possible. Heck, if we can get all of the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games, then anything is possible. So I ask you Fami, what is that dream collection that you are dying to play on Switch?

I don't know if this counts as retro (newest game is from 2009, so possibly 15 years old by the time the collection would be out), but I want a complete Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles collection, featuring all six games. I want them to make up for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered's multiplayer with a new remaster that properly includes the ability to have your friends join your caravan, live in your town, and progress through the story with you. I then want Ring of Fates ported to a single-screen format, like Echoes of Time already was for Wii. Then I want all four Wii games (Echoes of Time, The Crystal Bearers, and the two WiiWare games) to be included as well. If I can ask for it, I'd like Ring of Fates and Echoes of Time to have a more elegant solution to the second-screen problem than what Echoes of Time originally employed, giving them a proper rethink for a single screen. Additionally, in an ideal world, they would actually use a new graphics engine and port all 6 games into it so they all have improved graphics but with the option of showing their classic visuals. The graphics wouldn't need to be stunning; the goal would be a AA-level of fidelity that Square-Enix has been using for some of their smaller games this generation and that would clean up the DS games to be ready for a big TV screen. Most important with new visuals would be capturing the right aesthetic. In this collection, I also want an unlockable art gallery and a sound test.

As part of the marketing, Square-Enix would announce Season 4 of Theatrhythm Final Bar Line's DLC is going to be all songs from the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles franchise (adding new Series Quests and characters, too!) and that a live album and concert series will be happening. Lastly, at the final show of that concert series, Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles 2 will be announced for Switch 2, featuring local and online multiplayer, with key members of the original creative team back.

Another collection I'd like is a Chibi-Robo collection, which also may not qualify as a retro collection. I'd like the same approach as above: all games (except maybe Photo Finder, which could be released on mobile or link with the NSO app somehow for photos?), potentially ported to an updated engine so those DS games aren't too rough. For this one, I don't really need all the stuff about the music, but I would definitely accept a new game if the right developers could be found for it.

Nice to see this happening! Feels like Tetris 99 doesn't do these crossovers as often as it used to.
They have had a couple of them this year which is good. Hope the next few releases get these. Also hope they do some of the older ones because I missed a couple

is that digimon cyber sleuth game any good? it's like 10 bucks so why not?
It's decent, specially if you like digimon, and also you are getting 2 games since it includes Cyber Sleuth and CS: Hackers Memory (which is more like side story), so for the price it's really some good content

Thought this was AR monster hunter but think it’s just a mobile version of boss battles?

Edit: guess it is Niantic. You would think some other company would steal this type of game at this point, but animatic seems to get every major property for these things.

With BOTW I put in about 50 hours and felt like I got my fill (keeping in mind I almost never play open world games for more than 10-20 hours). Curious how TOTK will go in that regard. I'm hoping the critical path has more to do, not that BOTW was short exactly, but I'd like more set pieces and interesting locations to go with the story. At the very least I'm blocking out the rest of May to play it.

I'm almost 70 hours in but this is my second attempt at the game.

I'm really enjoying Oracle of Ages, almost as much as Seasons, but I forgot how needlessly convoluted these games can be at times. The part in Ages when you go to the Zora o_O

I need some judgement. Let's play a game called "waste of money" or "good investment."

My son is going to be three in a few months and he's starting to enjoy Mario. He says "MiMi" and asks me to play it sometimes. He is also into kid legos. I'm obviously a big Nintendo fan and enjoy everything about the brand. I never got into the Mario legos because my son was real young and I couldn't rationalize the cost of it just for me to put them together; however recently I saw a lot of the Lego sets have been going on sale.

I thought it'd be a wise investment to buy the Mario Lego sets on sale and save them for when my son turns six so we can build them together. So far I got the tumbly tower one for 50% off (I paid $8), the Bee Suit for 70% off (I paid $3) and the floating ship for 35% off (I paid $65 down from $99).

I still have a lot more sets to get and I will be scoping them out via sales over the next few years. Does this sound like a good investment or am I wasting my money?

for the record, I'm not rich but I am comfortably middle class and I recently just paid off my $700 a month student loan payments, so I have some money to throw around finally on things like this. These are going to be future birthday / Xmas gifts so money will be spent on stuff for him anyway.

Haven't played Oracles for a long time, but absolutely my enjoyment of Minish Cap was diminished by the fact you'd frequently have to progress the game by doing things in a very specific order, often with backtracking.

Also Nintendo, I know you're reading this: I haven't played the Oracles games for a long time so put them on NSO this week yeah.

The Oracle games, especially compared to the other GB Zelda game, definitely felt different when it comes to the game flow.
I guess they were victims of the times and tech they were realized in and on, mixed with a big ambition.

But hey, as we all witnessed and are about to witness again ... Fujibayashi learned a lot between making the Oracle games and Minish Cap and now. ^^
Guy got really refined at Nintendo.

I also replayed Minish Cap recently and subconsciously did everything in the right order. It was only after finishing the game that I realized that not everything would be as intuitive on a first try but to me it just "felt right".

I'm feeling Oracle of Seasons and Ages announcements.
Seems like good timing. People say that they will pair it up with TOTK, but to me that doesn't make any sense. Release them a bit before TOTK if you want to get people in the mood for Zelda - if you do it around the same time everybody will just play TOTK instead.

If you’re getting them on sale it sounds like a good deal to me. Worst case scenario you could just sell them again.

If anything I wouldn’t release the Oracle games so close to TotK. You’ve already got Link’s Awakening and Minish Cap available if you need a Zelda appetizer. I’d probably make them available on NSO in the final quarter of the year or so.

I see that. So far they seem to be sticking to releasing the NSO games in the order that they showed them, though, and that would mean the Oracle games are coming soon. Hopefully that's this month rather than next month.

Indie World tomorrow, 20 minutes.

Thank god you saw it, after not seeing it here at first I though I'd have to post something actually relevant.

Won't be able to watch the presentation live, but I hope there are some nice surprises.
Also people are gonna be really pissed if Silksong is not there.

Indie World tomorrow, 20 minutes.

Oh good! Because between having at least half of Chained Echoes still to do, Octopath Traveler 2 unopened, the Advance Wars remakes downloaded and ready to play, new Zelda next month, the first six Final Fantasy games arriving as an import copy in June, and Pikmin 4 in July, an Indie World is exactly what I needed.

not gonna lie I'm actually stoked because the last one brought me A Space for the Unbound which was excellent

I was not expecting an Indie world at all, Nintendo is going to be silent until 1 month before Pikmin aren't they?

the shitpost abyss lives

the hallucination / tiny stroke I had that said wednesday seemed as good an indicator as any, but I wasn’t satisfied

I used the rituals of old to make sacrifices off-site… and I had witnesses

moving in shadow, I arranged to have mario killed in a dumpster, then gathered seven tears to bring him back

but what came back was not mario

qZFA1j4.png

I was devoured, serving as tandem sacrifice

but the ritual’s true intent was shrouded

I was certain this ritual would bring the Indie World to us

and now, it has

the shitpost abyss lives

*for new people, long ago, we used to ban @Dark Cloud to get Directs. Then we started doing horrifying rituals with blood, photoshop, and shitposts. that, however, was a different era

WHAT DID I SAY?!?
to be fair, your prediction was level-headed and sensible, whereas mine was literally a hallucination and then bloodshed

just saying, the latter is seeming far more accurate than the former right now…

Going to the swamp, to turn around, head back to town, to talk to some guy in a shoe shop that you couldn't enter until this point was some BS though.

It’s a pair of really solid creature collection/developing style jrpgs(closer to SMT style not Pokémon) where you’re constantly digivolving and devolving your party to make them more powerful(but it’s streamlined without obscure conditions). The translation is on the amusing side since they added a female MC option while barely changing the script so it winds up super gay.

Sigh I need to go back and play hackers memories
