Pre-Release The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Pre-Release Discussion Thread

I really hope they're not planning on completely undermining the modern day champions again. They already came across as chump versions largely in BOTW (except for that pinnacle of the humanoid form, Sidon), it would suck if they do it all over a second time.
Yeah I’m more than fine for the BotW champions to sit this one out. They got their time in the main game, the DLC specifically focusing on fleshing them out, and AOC.

Let the new ones take the reigns! The “connections” could just be characters we haven’t seen yet (like the 10k year old ancestor of Daruk mentioned by the Italian VA)

Like… there are very much characters we haven’t been shown. I don’t think Urbosa was in BotW’s story trailer at all for example. Same with Teba and Yunobo

Why is that guy so angry at people theorizing Demise??
If you're talking about Chaos Theory, they were falsely under the impression people were using knowledge from the art book leaks in those theories.

If you mean skittzo, I don't think he's angry as much as tired of saying the same thing.

SO MUCH STUFF
I don't know if this was discussed but after seeing this tweet:

I wonder if the megatama/tears can indeed channel another being... That would mean that the current champions can possibly channel the old champions and this same way Zelda becomes Hylia, and Ganondorf becomes Demise, what would Link be able to channel?

Yeah, that'd make sense of a few things. Zelda - Hylia, Dorf - Demise, Link - Goat Guy (pretty sure it was him who was talking to zelda in the trailer so i can't call him goat mom anymore smh my head).

Okay, I don't think anyone has brought up any of these points, so apologies if these have already been discussed:

  1. That's definitely Demise
  2. I wish the spoiler people would stop spoiling the art spoilers
  3. Ganondorf looks cool
  4. Ganondorf looks like Demise, so it's definitely him
  5. The music is cool
  6. The music is cool, but I'm not sure how much cool
  7. Did anyone else notice that thing?
  8. Looks like all of us were right all along
  9. The jewelry looks like tears!
  10. I wasn't sold on the game before this trailer, but now I'm moderately interested in unreasonable levels of hype.

Is Teba dead of just retired after so much injuries? Riju and Tulin are looking awesome
I'm wondering if the two mainly affected regions of the game near Hyrule Castle, namely Death Mountain and the Hebra Peak (coinciding with the two expected Champions) have anything to do with them two not being shown. Maybe they both die? Or both get used as vessels of some sort?

If you're referring to me I certainly did not mean to give off the impression that I'm angry.

I'm trying to say "hey I don't think that theory is accurate and this extensive list of reasons is why" which at least IMO does not come off as angry.

I do on the other hand feel irked when people accuse me of spoiling things.

Teba is retired, good for him he deserves it. But tbh, I'm glad because he was kind of just a bland Revali. This new champion already has a lot more personality.

It's weird that Yunobo, or a replacement is just nowhere to be seen.

Just watched now and its a perfect final trailer really. Still have to process it all though there was so much to see, gotta go through all the backgrounds of shots!

I was looking for changed areas and other sky islands to see what is new and I think they showed enough in the trailer to not spoil much, leaving most of the discoveries for us next month. That underground shot looked super cool and means that yeah it probably will be pretty expansive.

All these structures in the background of Link and Sidon fighting look so interesting (timestamp):

Also the scene with link's arm getting corrupted in this trailer looks even more similar to Ashitaka's arm being corrupted in Princess Mononoke.

Yet another glimpse of new sky islands, those do look Zora themed and maybe over the Lanayru area.

When the champions attack alongside Link, you can briefly see Daruk sword. So goron champion is probably here too. Just weird they are so secretive about him, especially if it is Yunobo. No footage in the trailer, no official art. What are they hiding ?

Am I the only one who thinks this thing is some sort of malice/dark/otherwise form of Chuchu? Its eyes are almost identical, and the way it kinda forms up out of a mass of liquid makes me think so. I'd be willing to bet these things will look like regular Chuchus from afar but will change into various forms such as this one when you get closer or antagonize them. That'd be a pretty sweet and simple way to add some new enemy and combat variety .

Also the first structure rising in the trailer is very much not Hyrule Castle. It was probably intentional that they put those shots right after the other to have people speculating whether or not it's a dungeon, which to me points to it being, in fact, a dungeon. They don't create hype for nothing.

Still in awe of how many ideas Nintendo is able to pack into their games. This looks to be at near Galaxy 2 levels of inventiveness. Every scene in this trailer had something new. Literally every scene.

It's rising from the desert, it's probably

Arbiters Grounds. That area is named on the botw map, but is only a few pillars sticking up out of the sand. It makes sense that a past dungeon that appears named on the map would be reused this time around.

Look at 2:41 again and tell me that there's a chance mid air combat didn't make it into the game.
Not aerial combat as a whole, but the specific mechanics in that patent which revolved around the directions you could aim and how that would affect your character's animation and falling speed and all that.

Interesting enough, we still didn't see any aerial combat with the bow while falling from those patents. This game is likely still holding an epic amount of secrets...

We still don't even know what the glyphs do, nor how those green-spiraling rocks look inside

If you have YouTube premium on iOS I highly recommend go rewatch this in 1080p Premium. The quality difference is night and day. It looks so much better. I didn’t realize YouTube compressed 1080p so much nowadays.

But if there is skydiving bossfight where the flying boss has 5 targets on its head, the mechanics need to be defined somehow, I can't see any reason to go with the idea that they've been changed or scrapped?
I mean, I can totally see that there could be very few times where they're any practical use, but that's been my suspicion the whole time.

Has the voice cast been confirmed yet? I keep seeing people say matt mercer is ganondorf but I haven't seen that like confirmed confirmed

Yeah I don't really believe that it's gone, I just mean to say that it being present in a patent is not a guarantee that it'll be in the game. That's all.

I really hope that the Story Setup is not that Link slept again for 100 years and wakes up on one of those sky island while he gets messages from Zelda of what she did in the past or something.
