People said this game was going to be Nuts & Bolts, but it's actually going to be Beseige.
It's the cancelled Miyamoto WIi U game, project Giant Robot

@manfromthedam Yoooooo.

Did you notice the SAX starting at 2:12?? Are we Torna now??

Also, we did get a beautiful piano coda at the end! (but not quite as beautiful as the one from 2017)

I am CONCERNED.... so very CONCERNED!!!

... This game is going to be so damn epic that we are going to get lost in the sauce. Some will forget they have families and jobs, others will forget what the real world looks like outside of Hyrule. Others will try to track down and own every single copy of the game because owning just one copy of such brilliance will be deemed unacceptable!!!

Jokey header aside, this game looks fucking BONKERS and I'm glad my actual concerns for it to live up to the hype seems to be dissipating. Happy Zelda day everyone!

Just ran through the trailers in a few different languages.
I'm thinking the LatAm dub is the way to go.
Really hope there is a way to switch right from the beginning.

No, it's definitely ganondorf.

Seriously, they don't do callbacks like that. Maybe it's "Demon form Ganondorf" which intentionally resembles Demise but it's not gonna be a different character like Demise. Let it go.

Yeah, exactly! Sick of people going on about Skyward Sword like its some kind of fundamental origin story. And all of the floating islands are just a giant coincidence!!!!

Personally wouldn't bet on Demise featuring; I think that's Ganondorf using Blood Moon magic to revive his army.

It shouldn't be surprising that there's a similar visual design going on. Demise's scar and flaming hair were visual callbacks to Ganondorf precisely because Ganondorf is the most prominent incarnation of Demise's curse. There now being a direct visual callback, where Ganondorf takes on characteristics of Demise, as he summons his demons, makes a lot of sense (let's not forget Breath of the Wild wholesale lifted the Goddess Statue iconography from Skyward Sword).

do we think that this ganondorf is still the same one as ocarina of time? Or is he a new reincarnation like link and zelda?
I think there's a degree of interpretation, but mine is that this is the same Ganondorf from throughout Hyrule's history. He's effectively a demigod at this point.

I haven't seen many people talk about the fact that Link having that rocket-thing fused to his shield means we're also gonna be able to have rocket-powered vehicles.

Maybe the real Tears of the Kingdom were the Nuts and Bolts we collected along the way.

The artwork, it's on his forehead. You can't make it out in the trailer because it's brightly glowing, hiding the shape.

Edit: I'm not actually sure if you're talking about Ganondorf now
nope, i was talking about the dragon/beast/zonai think, the murial character.

LOL hey, good to see you, sorry I was busy preordering dozens of copies so I'm concerned for my bank account

When I was going through chemo the Switch presentation trailer made me actually cry from happiness for the first time since I started feeling sick years prior. Legit never thought a trailer would do that to me again but that actually brought back the exact same emotions as dramatic as that sounds lmao

When you consider that Fuse and Ultrahand are made because fans were doing so much with BOTW. It actually wanna make me cry. Zelda team are the best developers in the world.

Clearly you don't seem to be understanding my point. Thematic callbacks or gameplay callbacks like sky islands are very normal, they iterate through ideas like that in multiple games all the time.

Character callbacks is not something they do. Ganondorf is the one exception* because he has an established history of dying/reviving/being sealed over and over. But you don't see Midna in any other game. Each different Zelda/Link/Impa is a different person. The king of hyrule in BOTW is Rhoam, not Daphnes Nohansen Hyrule from Wind Waker.

This is a constant, throughout the entire series of games. Demise has a finite end in Skyward Sword, and his curse explicitly paves the way for a new evil to arise, which is currently Ganondorf. Nothing about bringing him back for this game would make any sense, it would run contrary not just to the established lore but to all of the typical conventions of Zelda storytelling.

*besides the "silly" jokey characters like Beedle and Tingle

If it were a new Ganondorf they wouldn't be reviving a literal mummy.

That's because ganon reincarnated 10,000 years before BOTW and the hero/zelda of that time alongside the sheikah defeated him then, leaving the corpse we see in these trailers.

Zelda in BOTW literally says "Ganon had given up on reincarnation" because link got there to kick his teeth in and was out of time to do it, and had to make do with the malice Ganon form. Obviously she was incorrect and he got to finish reincarnating.

Hard to keep up with all messages, so don't know if already mentioned.
When seeing the companion NPC Link can have in the game, I had the sudden feeling that a la Age of Calamity, we will be able to switch from Link to your companion NPC at will.
Obtaining the champions would be the replacement for the champion abilities you unlocked in BOTW.
Now I was thinking back about that patent regarding handling the sound when we have some teleportation happening. What if that teleportation is not an ability we have in the game but just what happens when you quickly switch from a character to another.
Mostly wishful thinking but I like the idea :p.

I wish. They wouldn't be fully fleshed out player characters, but just a limited set of basic attacks for combat sequences would be a lot of fun. Similarly to how you have a different set of controls when riding Sidon in BotW and such. But I also doubt that will happen.

I don't think we see him with a tear at all. Do we?
oh okay, thought you implied it, my bad.
Assuming the 4 tears are with the champions, 1 is with ganondorf, 1 with zelda, where would the last one be?
And: this kinda reminds me really of the 7 Sages. Zelda was one of them. Its only confusing that ganondorf has a tear.

Gleeok lookin' mean

I don't think anything about SS was meant to ripple through the series beyond the idea of the eternal cycle and curse. It's pretty clear and definitive about each character's role in the cycle- you have the Evil Power, the Courageous Hero, and the Wise Princess/Queen. Nothing about what we've seen in BOTW or in this game suggests that Evil Power is anything other than Ganon/dorf.

I actually remember having this exact same argument before BOTW released, and again before Age of Calamity. So many people were convinced that they'd bring back Demise since it's the same producer, but nothing about that idea makes any sense within the logical consistency of the world. Demise is dead, literally. He died, and his remains were absorbed by the master sword to prevent his resurrection. The wiki says they began decomposing within the sword, tens of thousands of years before the events of BOTW.

There is nothing at all which points to him returning. Or even Hylia returning, as some people thought. Hylia was a goddess who gave up her power to take the role of the first Wise Queen, to use the triforce, since as a goddess she was unable to do so. Similarly to Demise she is long gone, her spirit/bloodline continues with Zelda though. Just like the "spirit" of Evil Power continues with Ganondorf.

The Zelda team likes to establish tons of new lore and backstory in each entry. They do not do such purposeful and heavy handed callbacks because they don't want any new game to be limited in story and context by what came before. Demise as a character is not showing up in this game, I am extremely confident in that.
I get what you mean, but surely even the development team would know that the shot of Ganondorf with the long red snakehair would let people think of Demise?

Maybe in that shot it is purely to imply that the demonic power (Demise) entered the body of Ganondorf again. So we may not see Demise return as a physical manifestation necessarily because that manifestation was broken. But the Demon is still very much present.

How they will give it form this time we don't know yet, maybe Ganondorf will have multiple forms yet again but they already showed us a boar in the last game and if they want to surprise us well... Why could Demise not discard Ganondorf's physical body in order to take up something else entirely?

The logical assumption would be that Link starts with 1, right?

All these structures in the background of Link and Sidon fighting look so interesting (timestamp):

Also the scene with link's arm getting corrupted in this trailer looks even more similar to Ashitaka's arm being corrupted in Princess Mononoke.

While others might disagree, I agree completely! I didn't think they'd be able to do it!

The music is a masterpiece in its own right!
Hope you like all dat sweet dungeony architecture!
The fact that you can't see any other islands in that shot is why I think she's in the ancient past there.
By Jove, if there's also a dimension/time mechanic here... There are quite a bit of "portals" in this trailer - Ganondorf summons one & the ice creature comes through one for instance.
also, you'll notice how vivid and serene the sky looks in these screenshots, which is extremely specific to these few shots of Zelda, so I think that's an way of visually communicating to the player where / when these scenes take place
Could also be cutscenes of course, but still intriguing...
You doubted him

This look says "I know what I'm doing".

We never see him with one, and at least to me this does not feel right, except if the zonai person has one and gives that to link, while zelda gets hers from the other person.

Yeah, im intrigued.

Ganondorf and Ganon have always been represented with the same flowing red hair, I don't understand why somehow that's only reserved for Demise.

Everything we know from the lore says that Demise is dead and gone. The spirit or power of evil is represented by Ganondorf. Of course Demise was intentionally designed to reflect the appearance of Ganon/dorf since he is the precursor, so it's silly to act like a Ganon/dorf design looking like Demise has to suggest Demise is coming back in some way.

Again, I distinctly remember having this same discussion before BOTW and AOC released, since there were glimpses of a Demise-like form for Calamity Ganon.

Hestu.

(The Sheikah aren't represented here. If Link "starts" with one, I could see it being an early game giveaway from Impa or Purah to get the quest started. Or Paya?)

Yeah, congrats! xD It's a lovely coda. More colourful than the BotW one - TotK is BotW but spicay after all!

That Mario Kart ass sax is sweet indeed. Someone suggested it could also be a Chinese reed instrument BTW - the souna - but I'm not too sure about that myself.
darknut?
DARKNUT???

Related to that Golem/Construct/Zonoid: looks like that's a nightly screenshot of a sky island? We haven't seen much of that yet, maybe night on the sky islands is a lot more threatening.

Yeah, lots of Zora vibes there! You can see the tail of the fish sculpture in Zora's Domain in that segment, as well as a row of fish-looking sculptures in the background.

I'm super excited for all these NPC & Player vs. Enemy battles. So far we saw Sidon + Riju + Tebo/Tebo's Son, and also a shot of Link + a group of people around him (bucket head dude, gerudo woman, goron dude) that maybe will also participate as a NPC group battle? Also saw Link giving some transportation to 4 NPCs. NPCs weren't really integral to gameplay in the first game, but I'm interested to see what this game holds in store for how useful NPCs will be.
