I'm actually pretty optimistic about the Pokémon remakes, but man they rushed them out huh?

Day One Update news

Games coming in pretty hot isn't anything new. Add to that that this is TPC who will never ever in a gorillion years delay a game that already has a set release date and you end up with situations like this. The patch is coming out before release at least but it sucks for people who want the physical version.

MIssing cutscenes and Opening Animation having to be patched in.
They are definitely coming in hot but good to know that they managed to get it by launch and that they intend to have post-launch support.

With Covid in general, I am cutting some slack to the devs/pubs, it is not easy to make a date. (Same happened with MHR for instance and they were more experienced than ILCA).

I'd be more worried about the day 1 state of Arceus personally.

I mean yeah, Nintendo has been embracing adding content after release in recent times.
Just looking at Smash, the Camelot Mario games and Animal Crossing really shows this.
But those are more service type games than Pokémon.
Metroid Dread also got some patches, but those seem minor in comparison to adding in whole missing cutscenes and opening animation.
It isn't just a Day One patch, they announced multiple ones.
This will really suck for phjysical buyers, not sure how I'll get the games now.
Wanted to wait a bit either way for impressions, so maybe it will get to be a pretty complete version when I get to it.

this is my tangentially related reminder that the whole site is ours now, you can just go to that thread

Nintendo rereleases their games with the updates on the card. They have been pretty good at this.

ooh, I’m glad it’s a day -8 update and not a day-of update

I’m not shocked that ILCA struggled with how early Pokémon carts have to go into production to reach mass in time for the November slot. The videos, too, could have been an issue with an animation contractor.

Looking forward to judging these games on their release forms! and hopefully for all you physical nerds out there, they’ll do the next batch of carts with the updates.

I'm getting excited for Xenoblade 3 or whatever their next title will be called, Splatoon 3 as well. Childlike excitement here, still having that at my age (30+) when do people expect a new direct?

What do you folks do about controllers being all over the dang place? I’ve got joycons, Wiimotes, NSO controllers, pro controllers and yet more all over my living room and it’s starting to become untenable.

I think Q1 2022 is the general expectation. I believe there's an old school speculation and hype thread in the works for it at the beginning of next year :D

I'm specifically talking about day one patches. It's a regrettable development but I'm not entirely surprised that it's the case here due to various factors.

Oh so the Nov 11 Update is just an update for the early digital version that sits on the servers already?
Like for reviewers?
Or do you mean later batches of physical releases?
I think my BotW already came with a couple of patches on it.
Yes, there's the leak thread for BDSP

Thanks, this site exists for a couple of weeks now, but it's stilla whole new world.

Shin Megami Tensei V officially released in Japan.

Yeah this post if you thought you'd die first.
My European Premium Edition is also already on the way.
Was unsure if I needed it, but am actually getting excited now.

Generally Nintendo has been much better about this though.
Granted this is special case because it's more the Pokémon Company than Nintendo but yeah.

wow, since I haven’t played Gen IV at all, I was going to avoid looking at the leaks. But I did, and…

this all sounds extremely good?? like I’m sorry to those who want the option to turn off Exp. Share but literally everything else sounds amazing, and the post-game sounds tough for the people who want that

and now that the intro animations etc. are confirmed to be patched in tomorrow…

like I was always just gonna judge it on how it was when I played it, and still will

but I’m actually very excited based on what I’m seeing, instead of the regular amount of excited I was

Game Freak would and have. sometimes that's just the way things work out. DPr is probably listed as "shippable" though. the weird thing is the multiplayer stuff. that's just weird

if you haven't played Gen 4, it's one of the better generations. if this will be your first time playing it, you're gonna have a blast

I genuinely can't remember the last time they delayed a game they had already announced a date for. I know they've delayed features like Bank support in SuMo and Dream World for BW.

Yeah the patching stuff and EXP Share are unfortunate, but I the other things gave me optimism.
I already liked how the game looked before, so I was very confused about the backlash the game gets in some areas.
Like I was someone that was very disappointed in Sword and Shield and people are really overdoing it with this game.
I'm not a competitive player, I just like good Singleplayer campaigns and Pokemon has been lacking ot me in that regard ever since the 3DS.

Yesterday I remember we are less than a month for the next Game Awards. (December 9th)

New BOTW2 trailer? Resident Evil Outrage? Xenoblade 3? Maybe nothing?
RE Outrage sounds about right. Maybe Xeno 3. I don’t think Zelda or Metroid or anything like that will be here.

I genuinely can't remember the last time they delayed a game they had already announced a date for. I know they've delayed features like Bank support in SuMo and Dream World for BW.
I think it's possible that both BDSP and Arceus were originally supposed to launch in September (DP 15th Anniversary) and November, respectively but were internally delayed prior to the reveal. Mainline games releasing just after the holiday period is rare, only happening once before with FRLG.

Edit: Realized you said after an inital date was given. Yeah I think you're right.

with a set date, no. but Diamond and Pearl were delayed for a year. TPC doesn't have absolute control over GF's releases like they do other pokemon games, but there is heavy coordination

I think Zelda and Metroid have a higher chance of showing up at The Game Awards than Xenoblade 3. Just didn't seem like the type of audience for that game.

Extremely tempted to cancel our GOTY awards and just give it to Elden Ring for 2021-2022. Sorry, but that's just where I am today.

This also ensures Xenoblade gets no votes for anything in 2022, so double win for us all.

I'll vote for BotW and Dark Souls III in the "best old games you played in 2022" category as a compromise

If that RE game is coming out within the first half of the year, then a TGA reveal is a good bet. It's already been delayed out of Q4.

I kind of have my doubts about it being a Switch exclusive, though. I believe the initial projection for the FY was over 3 million. That makes sense for MH, but for a console exclusive RE title?

You guys doing alright? I'm just sitting here, waiting for SMT V. And I'm playing a bit of Nocturne HD to get in the mood. And, yeah, I didn't remember the demon negotiations being quite such a pain in this game specifically, lol.

I keep mine in two sturdy, plain white shoe boxes. It was a temporary solution in 2013, when I was a graduate student, now they're just where the controllers and spare wires live.
