Who else is excited and glad we finally got Advance wars coming in 2 weeks? Hopefully we get some previews next week

My first Mario game was literally NSMB Wii 🤣

Has anyone played Arietta of Spirits? Is it good?

Is it, like, "for sale on the eShop for $4.99" good? 😅

Rewatching the Castlevania anime and I'm back to wanting a Zelda anime.

Ganondorf characterisation should be a neat intersection between manipulative demigod warrior king (Twilight Princess) and mad melancholy tyrant trapped out of time (Wind Waker).

Zelda would basically be Sypha.

Question of the week

What was the first Mario game that you ever played?

This week we finally see the Mario film get a release! For the vast majority us, Mario has played some sort of a roll in our video game lives. Whether you have played one game or fifty, it is almost impossible to play video games for long enough and not run into Mario.

My answer: Super Mario Bros

World_1-1_Super_Mario_Bros.png

I have said it before, This is literally the first memory that I have in my life. I was two at best. I didn't know my numbers or the alphabet, but that blue screen burned a hole into my brain and it never left. This may not have been the game that hooked me for life, but it certainly started that path for me.

So what say you, Fami?

My first exposure to Mario was Super Mario World on a friend's SNES that his parents kept in their bedroom, but my first Mario game that I owned was... *checks notes* Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 on GBA 😅 Unfortunately it's not the first Mario game I beat; I got stuck in the Hidden Woods and never could figure out on my own how to proceed so I sorta...dropped it lol. One day I'll go back and finish it!

My first Mario game was a bit of a strange one. It was Great Giana Sisters on the Commodore 64 (itself a rip-off of SMB1) but hacked to change the sprites back to Mario and Mario enemies and the like. Obviously later when I got a NES, I played the actual (much better) game.

Same.

I probably had a controller in my hand before I could string a sentence together, and this was the game. My dad and I used to play Mario 1 like mad. That, Karnov, Twin Eagle, and Mappyland.

Broke out the DS because that "which version of Kanto is the best" thread got me wanting to play some LeafGreen, and after some time, I noticed the area where the battery is was very warm, and after unscrewing the cover I saw the battery looks, well, not flat, so, that's quite unfortunate.

Boooo, that sucks

I grew up playing them so I don’t have a distinct first one, but it was likely one of these: Super Mario World, All Stars, Super Mario Kart, or Super Mario RPG. The first one I distinctly remember as a new game was Super Mario 64 and that’s my favorite game of all time that forever cemented my love for video games. Amazing series :)

Pretty sure it was Super Mario Bros 3.

But I don’t remember

Great weekly question!

I'm not sure what my first Mario game was. It was either Super Mario 64 or Super Mario Bros. Deluxe. I don't remember which one I got first - I have a memory of getting the N64 for my birthday, but I may be misremembering. Mario in general made for a pretty formative experience, and both of those were great entry points for the time.

Super Mario World on my cousins super Nintendo. I only got to play it when I went over to my grandma's. He also had super Mario all starts but dropped it in water and it didn't work. Really loved World and eventually got to play it to completion when I got the gba port of World. The gba port of smb 2 was the first Mario I owned and beat tho.

I was born into a household with a Super Nintendo and a copy of Super Mario World.

Google “what is a calzone”
The wikipedia "excerpt" is uh.... something:

Calzone

Food

Coprophagia or coprophagy is the consumption of feces. The word is derived from the Ancient Greek: κόπρος copros, "feces" and φαγεῖν phagein, "to eat". Wikipedia
Origin: Italy
Main ingredients: Ricotta, mozzarella, salami/ham, parmesan/pecorino
Variations: Tomato, provolone, anchovies, olives, onions, chards, minced meat, fish, cabbage

The funny part is there's no record of that weird text in the article's recent history: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Calzone&action=history

Thank you very much! Going straight to Advance Wars and something else lol

Thanks!

oh god wait what the fuck

Finally

I'm not too concerned about the warning you can't transfer Pokemon to the game. Nothing stopping them from re-uploading the trailer once RBY gets added to Gameboy NSO

Pokemon Stadium without being able to transfer Pokemon is baffling. I forget if PS1 had them, but at least PS2 had some fun-ish minigames.

Yeah, I really do not understand what they are doing here. This makes a potentially exciting addition into an underwhelming one. Least the minigames are nice!
Wait is this Segaboards for the rest of the month? I clicked the logo thinking it would bring me back to the home page and it jumpscared me tbh
You can change the theme from the theme selector on the bottom. If you were using the default style, it should have switched you back to Fami about 48 hours ago, but if you selected "Sega - no font" specifically you may need to manually shift back to your desired style.

Well there it is. They broke the order and it’s not paired with 2 which is surprising. Was legitimately expecting MP3 to go with the movie

I'm curious when the Zelda Oracle games are going to be released. They were first on the list but of course Kirby Return to Dream Land came out first so it doesn't seem like where the game's show up in the Directs is the exact order of releases. If the Oracle games release this month, it would be fun to playthrough before Tears of the Kingdom but if they don't, we might have to wait several more months because I don't think Nintendo wants the Oracle games to overlap when most people will be playing TotK.

It’s just a theme. You can change it in your settings/at the bottom of the page.

Oh thanks, yeah I always had the default theme on (prefer light mode here) but it didn’t change me back even after April 1st for some reason

Started playing Mario Rabbids Sparks of Hope

Huge complaint right off the bat: the first game's controls were very click-y and satisfying to interact with, this one has the game feel of a wet noodle. Just moving around and interacting with things doesn't feel good. I can't believe no one caught that in development

Not sure how I feel about it yet but it's still fun. The overworld design is miles better than the first which is super nice, but idk if I like how they've rebalanced the combat. Feels like they tried so hard to mix things up that they accidentally took a few steps back

I'm watching this show and there's this scene where a guy plays a game but he definitely has an NES controller and there's an NES with the power light on next to the TV but the game's graphics are so obviously 16-bit and it's cute but it bugs me

I believe my first Mario was SMB NES but I also remember playing Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. And I don't remember if it was before or after SMB but I am pretty sure my first three games were Zelda, SMB and Duck Hunt.

My first was super Mario world on gba I think. Tho I also remember super Mario bros special pretty early on(and donkey Kong country GBC)

Nearing what I expect is the endgame of my first route(scarlet blaze) of FEWTH ch16 in the void with the 3 lords due to being in the save byleth route but calling it a night to climb up in the loft with TGAAR

The first 3D Mario game I ever owned was Super Mario 3D World on Wii U

I never had much interest in Mario despite loving games like Banjo-Kazooie growing up. Didn't even buy the Galaxy games on Wii. Finally decided to give it a chance with 3D World and I have bought every 3D release and re-release since

I'm going to be a little petty and self congratulatory.
