I'm probably an outlier, but I honestly found Lets Go to be the superior game over S/S. It was just a breath of fresh air after everything beforehand.

I also hope I feel the same of the DP remakes considering the nostalgia I have for them. High school days with friends, playing the cafeteria, using Action replays to get all the legendary pokemon with events that weren't normally available in English, buying up the spin-offs partially to get exclusive pokemon (Ranger games were fun though) and just competing against each other.

I can tell I'm either gonna love BDSP or hate it passionately >.>
My turn off with Lets Go was that the seemingly best way to level up was to just continuously catch Pokemon. For me
it felt pointless having 20+ rattatas in my box.

Since people are talking about, while I was at first really high on HG/SS (One of my favorite pokemon games initially), I've more recently started to like it less and less.

First, I don't really think either of its two regions are particularly great. Johto had potential and an interesting identity, but it felt like it had to sacrificed somewhat to make room for Kanto. For example, there aren't many Johto pokemon, which leads to you running into and using a lot of Kanto pokemon and the region as a whole not having a strong identity of its own. It doesn't help that many of the Johto pokemon aren't that great, so many of the gym leaders end up having to rely on Kanto pokemon to flesh out their teams. It really doesn't make sense for them to not have Johto pokemon as their aces. Why doesn't Morty use Mismagius as opposed to Gengar? Why doesn't Bugsy use Heracross as opposed to Scyther? Why doesn't Chuck use Hitmontop as opposed to Poliwrath? Why doesn't Faulkner use Noctowl instead of Pidgeotto? There were plenty of opportunities to incorporate Johto pokemon into their teams, but they just don't. This, combined with the very low end levels of the region (E4 is in the 40s level-wise), leave it feeling like it was more a prelude to Kanto than a region unto itself.

Speaking of leveling, HG/SS has probably the worst level curve of any pokemon game I've played (haven't played Gen 8 or US/UM) save for the original G/S/C. While it works fine up until Whitney, once you get past her, the game's level system becomes really wonky due to the non-linearity of the next three gyms (Pryce, Chuck, and Jasmine can be done in a variety of orders). While this non-linearity is nice for repeat playthroughs, I don't think it added as much as it took away, for since you can tackle the gyms in any order, they all have to have pokemon around the same level to make them beatable, which makes the difficulty of the last two you fight feel lower than that of the first one you fight. Furthermore, once you get past those three, the final gym, Clair, has an absurd level spike that can make grinding feel mandatory (Price's highest level pokemon is 34; Clair's is 41). Even worst, grinding here is difficult because, for whatever reason, the wild pokemon nearby are only around level 25. Even if you wanted to use the Ice Path's pokemon to rush through the gym, you'd still need to grind them up roughly 15 levels for them to have a good chance of winning. This sort of problem also plagues all of Kanto, where the gym leaders' pokemon are levels 50-60, while the wild pokemon are anywhere between level 20 and 30. This makes adding new team members really difficult, grinding levels unnecessarily hard, and catching new pokemon pointless.

HG/SS have a lot of passion put into them and it clearly shows, but it just has some problems that I can't wrap my head around. While it was initially in my top 3 favorite games, nowadays I'd probably leave it out of my top 5.

Toree 3D and Toree 2 are fantastic little platformers and they are basically what 3D Sonic should have been from the beginning. They're both only $0.99 on the eshop and everyone should check them out.
Yes! Toree is great stuff.

Everyone should forget about their worries and anxiety and get into Toree instead.

Pokemon the past years is always a tricky case. Let's take Sword and Shield. I spend over 100 hours on it. Collecting all pokemon and breeding for pvp for the first time. That part was fun for me. But when it comes to the core game oh boy... Zero challenge and boring story. To be honest if you just play through the story it's one of the worst rpgs I ever played. And Rom hacks do show that it could be so much better...

But we all are part of the problem. As long as the games sell well nothing is gonna change.

Except for the brief moments of horror, like when the sound starts distorting or the snowballs that turn into giant mouths or the bad guy shifts reality and turns into a black hellscape for a couple seconds at the end of one level

What? I can't hear you there's static or something....

Those little moments just let you know you're alive... Lol we have to upsell

I bought Ring Fit a couple months ago for about R$700. Wasn't that bad since I'm (unfortunately) used to pay ~350 for physical games. It's around 800 on Cogumelo Shop right now (although I'm sure you could get it for less if you waited, those guys are always overpriced).

I dream of the day we will have physical games here again, but I'm not holding my breath. The good thing is, due to how ridiculous the Switch market here is, you can buy a game, play it, and sell it for the same price you bought it, so you'd basically play it for free. The whole thing is completely broken.

Oh I get it now

Btw for other brazilian folk who were struggling to find SMTV to buy physically, Atacado dos Jogos has it up for pre-order now, just got mine earlier. They're a pretty good store, never had any problems.

Oh, yeah, exactly.
I see this in groups trying to find used consoles and most are the same price as new ones as well. And the same goes for used games.
It's sad because the prices are super high for most Brazilians, including me, to buy.
I'm looking forward to get my Switch in December but I'll probably have at most one or two games alongside it.
What gives me a little hope is people renting, or selling accounts or digital games. Being careful not to be baited of course.

Mario Party Superstars only had a 18% decrease in sales for week 2 in the UK.

Are we prepare for another leggy Mario game!?!?!?

nobody cares what they'll be playing tomorrow, all I hear about is what we'll be playing in a year. it just sucks and selfishly I hate what it's done to this community that I used to love
That's a strange way of reading this. I still play my Switch all the time despite knowing Dane is coming, every day. Most of the people speculating about Dane are doing the same.

Talking about what's coming in the future is fun, it doesn't at all diminish the present.

I barely know what I'm going to be playing today, let alone tomorrow.

Sem problema, acho que é o esquema, o combo acho que se chegar vai ser por sites que a própria Nintendo vende. Boa sorte pra conseguir.
O Ring Fit outra opção é por sites tipo Tienda Mia da vida.

You know why I hate the Dane? Because in this circle, the only people I have to talk about Nintendo with, the Switch is already dead.
Not here! I love my switch and am looking forward to playing backlog games. With all that's in the cards too, Switch could keep me going until 2030! ..and I'd still be no good at Smash

I think it's still worth buying the console. The eShop has a ton of great games that are either super cheap or are on sale very often. You can get indie stuff like Hollow Knight, Celeste, Cuphead, Axiom Verge, Stardew Valley, Golf Story, etc for 10-40 reais pretty much whenever. Then there are great third parties that always get good deals like Megaman, Ace Attorney, Mario and Rabbids, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Castlevania, DB FighterZ etc. Of course all of this sounds less attractive if you already have another platform and access to those games, but the portability is a huge factor to consider. I'm addicted to buying Switch games because it's so convenient, even if I play mostly docked.

And for first parties you can do like you said, buy it used and sell it for the same price, so you're essentially renting the game for free. I bought BotW physical in 2018 for 250 before the dollar spiked, today the selling price is around 300-350 even used. First party games never lose value.

Anyway, enjoy your Switch! It's a great little machine.

Are we sure these issues are not coming from pirated copies ? I remember the mess before Sword/shield launch because of it.
I don't think there's any reasonable explanation for the issues to be caused by pirates copies. Some of these bad placeholders were in earlier trailers.
It could but I believe HGSS was already an awesome package. My point is that you don't necessarily need the 3rd version content to be a great remake.

It is clear that, since we started having Pokémon remakes, they'll be based on the base versions with added content and QoL features. Some remakes went heavier on the content side than others tho.

Given what you told me, we are clearly in the same framework. D/P had issues that Platinum solved in a way and BD/SP might solve in another way. We'll see but at least the main core issues of D/P are being tackled on in this remake.

Yeah that's why I avoid following the leaks discussions, it is too hard to get a sense of what is right/wrong and is very charged emotionally. Clearly not worth the hassle.
It doesn't really seem like BDSP are really trying to address most of the issues that Platinum did, though.

Nossa amei!!

okay wow I’m sold on the game

Exactly!!
I mean I've been dreaming about this device ever since it was announced. Ive been saving money for this whole year and in December I'll be finally able to buy my sweet Switch.
Btw I didn't know indie games with high quality were so cheap on BR eShop, now I'm much more excited to play those. I'll probably not buy that many physical games tho. I'm buying it for first party mostly. Can't wait to play Metroid Dread, SMT V, Zelda BotW and Odyssey 😭.
There's a site called gamesthor that sells digital game packs, like 4 games, you choose two and two are random. Among the options are BotW, Odyssey, Splatoon, Doom, Skyrim, etc. For 250. Looking forward to buy there.
Idk tho how I'll buy the console yet. I found a BH store that sells semi-new Lite for 1300. At the same time I always wanted the hybrid and it's at 1900 new in official stores. Just wish there was any bundles around holiday even if used.

The only reason I'm looking forward to what I'll be playing in a year is because that list includes BotW2, Bayonetta 3, and (possibly) Xenoblade 3, which are major heavy hitters for me and one of which I've been waiting entirely too long for. And the only reason I even remotely care about the Dane-powered model is because I was a little disappointed in how the dynamic resolution scales down hard during weather effects in Xenoblade, even docked. I'm not normally a numbers guy with gaming but I want to explore Gaur Plain in the rain in at least 1080p, because it's beautiful and I love it. If Dane means some older games get patched like that, awesome! I wanna play them again. If Dane means something like Bayo 3 runs a little smoother or clearer, awesome! Outside of that, though? Dude my backlog has been almost entirely small-scale retro indies that run beautifully on my Erista Switch. Aside from Bowser's Fury, Sakuna of Rice and Ruin, and now DQXI, I think all I've played for the past two years are retro pixelart games and small scale indies. And what's left in my backlog that I'll be playing for the foreseeable future? More indies and pixelart games that will look awesome on my four-year-old grey Switch.

So I'm at least one person you can count on to enjoy base-Switch stuff for a good while longer this coming year. If that helps. 👍
damn that was long, sorry yall 😅

what the fuck is this and why does it look so scary
It's a game made by Dylan Culbert, one of Star Fox's programmers and a pretty seasoned game developer. The game is like Minecraft in the USSR from what I've heard.

The idea of Dane is great but I love my Switch as it is and the idea of a new one doesn't stop me wanting to play everything I can on it. The only thing the idea of a Switch Pro brings is that I'll be able to play more games using the console I like best.

The Switch definitely isn't dead. This community has always been somewhat obsessive about the future, be it games or hardware. But that doesn't mean we aren't excited about upcoming games. SMT V comes out on Friday. BDSP comes out the following Friday. We also have Arceus coming out in January, which I am hugely excited for. And then we have Triangle Strategy and Kirby early next year, too.

The Switch could not be more alive, friend.

I am playing Fantasy General (1996), It Takes Two (2020), Animal Crossin (2019), Betrayal at Krondor (1993), New Pokémon Snap (2021), Civilization VI (2016) and Settlers 2 Gold (1997) so I really can't say what I expect to play next year.

All I know is that Switch makes it A LOT easier for a parent to keep up with gaming and that Game Pass is the absolute best deal in gaming.

Oh and that there are SO MANY GREAT GAMES OUT RIGHT NOW.
