I guess I just hate what all this says about the OLED. it's just a cheap stopgap to scam people who were too sick of the switch's screen and stand to wait even a year for a possible replacement, one that they're obviously denying the existence of because it would kill the sales of the scam model. the whole thing is nothing new I guess, but it's all predicated on such crushing cynicism that I can't help but be bummed out by it.

I'm pretty young still and I haven't been active in the community for all that long, so this is the first time that spending time online and hearing about rumors make me feel significantly worse about all this stuff, instead of making me excited or even happy

All I know is that Switch makes it A LOT easier for a parent to keep up with gaming and that Game Pass is the absolute best deal in gaming.

Oh and that there are SO MANY GREAT GAMES OUT RIGHT NOW.

Really IMO the main reason I'm excited for Dane is so that there are more games I can play in the Switch form factor.

I might be giving Nintendo too much credit here but I have a feeling the OLED and the Dane were supposed to release side-by-side, as sort of a blanket Switch refresh. Both with the revised chassis, both with the upgraded screen. "Here's the new Switch lineup!" would've been a hell of a marketing push. But then covid and the global chip shortage severely delayed Nintendo's plans for the Dane, so Nintendo went ahead with the OLED and waited for NVidia to catch up with the Dane chips. I can't back it up, but that's just the impression I get. I dont think they're trying to scam us with the OLED at all, I think it's just unfortunate timing and a worldwide crisis caused delays.

Edit: and I hope I'm not coming across as argumentative, and I definitely don't think you're a sucker dude. I'm just trying to offer a little optimism to help brighten the mood and the day, and I hope that comes across.

I was about to say the steam deck, then I remembered the complaints that it was too bulky for some people, that isn't too much off a hastle for me though.

I care about what I'll be playing in three days when Shin Megami Tensei V releases for the Nintendo Switch family of systems
 
I'm a bigger sucker. I bought a GBA, a GBA SP backlit model, and a Game Boy Micro with all the changeable face plates.

Then the DS happened lol.
 
I can no longer deny that the new switch is happening, that nintendo is lying, and that at the end of the day I'm an idiot. all I know for sure is that all that makes me sad and makes me wish I had never become so Online

Don't worry, we have all bee tricked by corporations before. I bought the Wii U two weeks before it got a $50 price cut, and the ambassador program for it never came 😃

I have no problem with things like the OLED, the different GBA variants, those sorts of things.

I will say, however, that the New 3DS made me absolutely furious. It never really amounted to much, but the idea that there would be exclusive games and features that normal 3DS users wouldn't get made me super upset. I'm pretty sure I ended up selling my 3DS on eBay shortly after it was announced and I just never really went back to those games. I was done.

You're not an idiot. You're someone who wants a better quality experience now rather than the potential promise of a better experience (which is likely to be better in very separate and different ways) at some indeterminate time in the future.

Really it all comes down to whether you find it worth the cost to have a better experience for 12-18 months+ which is perfectly valid.
 
I won't be surprised if the next Switch entry has a worse screen than the OLED model, that's kind of a Nintendo tradition.
 
Ok I'm going to admit I skipped the OLED to wait for the dane, but one of the reasons is I want to save money and my og switch is good enough for me for now.

That has more to do with the release schedule than hardware imo. Way more people care about BotW 2, Splatoon 3, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and what we've been hearing from the rumor mill than WarioWare, SMT V, and BDSP (at least here).

When Dread was on the horizon/just released, this site wouldn't shut up about it. As a whole we're just not excited for the remaining release schedule for the year.

I guarantee you that by mid-January there'll be way more discourse about Pokemon on here than Dane, even if there's new developments on Dane.

Eh, I'm someone in the camp that Dane is coming soon (though I'm starting to lean 2023) and I bought an OLED too. I just can't buy into the mindset that everyone interested in Dane that buys an OLED is a sucker; I'm enjoying the benefits of the OLED now, and if I want to sell it in the future, I can. No harm, no foul. (I have a feeling Dane will be priced higher than the OLED, resulting in it retaining its value for a while.)

Tem risco sim, eles só fazem o meio de campo, é bom que dá pra pagar com boleto, sem precisar de cartão internacional e tal, pra coisa que não tem entrega aqui, ou que o lugar que for comprar já inclua o imposto e aí você pode arriscar, se não for taxado sai no lucro. Mas sempre que for comprar é bom deixar separado o valor, melhor ter na mão e não precisar que precisar e não ter.
Olha, infelizmente não sei dizer, consegui pegar o NSW ainda em 2017 caçando por lojas de SP no FB até achar o mais próximo da conversão direta do valor em dólar e por logística (o que peguei me entregaram na estação de metrô mesmo), mas naquela época o dólar tava bem mais acessível.

You really missed out on an analog nub so bad it wasn't worth using, a Miiverse so slow it wasn't worth using and the worst version of Xenoblade.

I got an OLED model too even though I long suspected a new one is coming. After the pandemic I decided to carpe diem. 😂 Also, people may look back one day and determine that the OLED model is the definite edition of Switch and a collector's item. I'll enjoy it as long as I can.

I skipped the OLED and honestly might just skip the Switchfourk too if there aren't any must-play exclusives on it.

Honestly I'm kinda just ambivalent on the whole thing anyways, since I'm not really a specs person in the slightest (I legitimately may not have noticed anything wrong with even something like Age of Calamity if people weren't so upset about it)
 
Can't wait for the day Nintendo reveals this speculated new hardware and it turns out to be something very different than what everyone thought again. lol
 
No idea what I've missed, I just saw this was on page 64 which is a good time to have hit the credits on Mario Kart 64.

Chances of that are pretty low this time considering the source of the original Dane info is an Nvidia leaker with a 100% track record.
 
I know this will sound like I'm trying to convince myself, but I don't feel short changed by the SwOLED (though I certainly don't blame people who do).
My launch switch was barely holding it together and I mostly play handheld so it was the right move for me, but I know it's not for everyone. Personally I'm on team 2023 for the next revision (so it can launch with MP4 teehee).
 
I just spend my money how I see fit.

Don’t see the reason to care for the future. I might be dead any second with the crazy drivers around me, so I rather live in the moment.
 
I just hope this "Dane" Switch is either something minor i can ignore or does not come out like just 1-2 years before Switch 2 or whatever.

Also i can't wait until the Switch pro/dane discussion is finally over. Haven't been a big fan of that to be honest.

Won’t be dead for me for years. Of course, I’m the king of delayed gratification so routinely get enjoyment out of the dirt cheap Wii/U/DS/3DS games I haven’t played. I could honestly have the switch last me another 10 years and be happy. The only pill to a new generation for me will be the new first party games.

I think it is the switch 2. From all the rumors i've read at least that's what I can see.
 
Have been playing Pikmin 2 on WiiU to get the GameCube badge here, and forgot how amazing this game was. Also, Nintendo went all out with the product licensing. I assume the value of the junk is in direct correlation to the amount nintendo spent to get the brand name. That’s why Kiwi shoe polish, which is more expensive than a damned Dr Pepper bottle cap, is worth less.

Need Pikmin 4 already.
