If Metroid Prime 4 was actually scheduled for this year, assuming Metroid Prime 1 Remake exists, then Metroid Prime 1 Remake would have obviously released in 2022.

I don't really understand the thought process where Nintendo randomly decides to launch two Metroid Prime games right next to each other after the series went 14 years without a release. Especially as this would have to be specifically planned with Nintendo holding the game since September 2021 to release just a couple months before Prime 4 for some reason.

Doctre is just REALLY bad at interpreting generic language and then people take his interpretations seriously.

Launching Prime 1 4-8 months before Prime 4 is a perfectly fine marketing strategy, I don't see any issue with that. I've always assumed Prime 1 was being held specifically to serve as a marketing tool for Prime 4, so they wouldn't announce it until they could reveal Prime 4.

Also pretty sure there was more than 1 linkedin post suggesting Retro staff had worked on new projects.

I think that Arlo has had some outlandish takes, such as the disturbing rant near the end of his review of The Origami King, or saying that Tears of the Kingdom doesn't generate hype because of Elden Ring. These takes have fueled the wave of unwarranted hate and misconceptions towards many Nintendo developers, namely Tanabe and Miyamoto.

Although I'm not a fan of his content due to the aforementioned reasons, I do think the amount of hate he gets is unwarranted
Here's the thing. I mean this with no offense to anyone here, but I've seen a lot worse takes on this very forum. People seem to hate Arlo because he's a YouTuber.
There will always be a strange level of jealousy/nerd rage at any successful content creator who's able to make a living covering/playing video games on youtube/twitch. I say this as someone who's been openly critical of Arlo on this site. What I find weird is of all the Nintendo Youtubers out there, people seem to like to share Arlo's opinion in threads like this, probably because they know it'll get a rise out of people. Of course when some users misrepresent their points it just further devolves the discussion.

The best solution would probably just be to have an Arlo ST the way Era has a James Stephanie Sterling OT. I don't know how much discussion that would generate, but it would help prevent every direct speculation thread from being derailed several times over the course of the 6-8 weeks period when someone feels compelled to share Arlo's opinion.

There were some actual reasons to believe the Direct would be this week, minor though they may have been. But what makes it likely to be next week? If it's not this week, I feel like next week isn't any more likely than the week after. If anything, given the earnings release, the week after might be more likely.

Must be hard to be a role model for the entire fan community, exposure seems scary but at least when you are on the Internet you are able to read what people normaly say behind your back without your knowledge.

Whether that's a good thing or not I do not know 😅

I'm just tired of waiting to get excited for Zelda. Nintendo has become so damn boring in recent years in my opinion. Show me something exciting!

This recent Arlo video is more obnoxious than usual.

"How could games take five years to make???" Arlo, have you played a video game made in the last 7 years.
Criticism against Influencers is important I think, but I don’t get these „Arlo said this“ posts that are basically just there to create anger and hate against him. If his opinion bothers you so much, why don’t you just send him an email or something? Or ignore him?

I vehemently disagree. Metroid is not Zelda. They will not pour the same time and budget into it.

Also as noted Retro appears to have at least partially moved on to their next project. Not sure if that would happen while Prime 4 is still ~22 months out.

I'm pretty confident it's releasing within the next 12 months.
Given that the rumors indicate that both MP1R and MP4 are/were in dev concurrently, I'd guess that at best there's a portion of the team from the former has moved on to MP2/3R or preproduction on something entirely new. Odds are the LinkedIn profiles are probably just talking about MP4. Similarly, without knowing how the dev split looked like for the two games after they took over on MP4, it's hard to say how long MP4 has really been in full dev. It wouldn't exactly be surprising to find that with Retro being relatively small, until some of the more recent hirings, that a majority of the studio was on MP1R until it was allegedly completed/mostly completed in 2021. Now add in COVID time/delays.

I t hink if MPR1 is real, we can reasonably speculate that MP4 won't release within 12 months of that. So the release date for MP1R will probably inform us of when we can start to expect MP4. Whether MP4 is done sooner or not, Nintendo will likely give MP1R it's time to breath before dropping MP4.

If I was guessing then I would say MP4 is not coming till 2nd half of 2024.

there is a direct line to be drawn between "carrot moved further away after direct is expected" and "famiboards member comes for arlo"

(and yes I will call it out every time I see it, not as a fan of him but bc it is very much sticks out against the usual positive vibes of this site)

What is the ND rumor based on February 7?
Overly excited mods on a subreddit was given information they themselves are skeptical. They've already made a follow-up post apologizing for not providing due diligence. It's also a Tuesday, which is already extremely unlikely.

In short, no need to pay it any attention.

What are the odds that Nintendo are sitting on both Prime 1 remaster and Prime 4 trying to determine where to best release them since they supposedly have nothing major after TOTK

Same. I wouldn‘t even know him without this (or the previous) forum. When watching his videos I don‘t see anything wrong, he is just saying his opinion on which you can agree or disagree.

prime 4 obviously isn't major bc speedrunners will find a way to complete it in 5 hours by 2028
