That wasn't my interpretation of his take at all.

He said it's too bad that they announced it so close to the beginning of development, then restarted development from scratch two years later, thus having nothing to show for five years. He even pointed out in the video that he's aware modern AAA games tend to take five or so years to make and that the pandemic could've caused part of this long bout of them having nothing to show.

What's obnoxious about that?

People always dogpile on Arlo. That guy is nice. He may come off as pessimistic at times and sometimes get a little conspiracy theory, but he’s way better than a lot of negative and misleading YouTubers out there.

I definitely don't hate him like others. He's generally pretty positive. I just fervently disagree with a number of his opinions, lol.

Metroid Prime Remaster more and more looks like a summer reveal for fall release. Metroid Prime 4 revealed for a 2024 release. We’ll get Pikmin 4, 2D Mario, Tomadachi Life 2, Metroid Prime Remaster, Mario Party, Baten Kaitos this second half.
 
Is there really any doubt about the Direct being this week ?

The most recent Kirby extra content box-art leak only adds more fuel to the fire. It and Octopath are due a new trailer/demo shadowdrop and the 24th is already very close.

Game vouchers were first introduced in the SMM2 Direct, they had a promo video identical to this one (with newer titles not featured ofc) put up at the time

yeah his claim is generally fairly meaningless and expected since the big sellers are all accounted for / will be saved for the next gen

there are the interesting exceptions like 2D Mario as noted earlier

I mean, Pokémon Ultra Sun/Moon was launched after Switch launch and Black/White 2 launched more than one year after 3DS launch. AND they were huge sellers. Wouldn't be surprised if there's another mainline Pokémon game is in works for current Switch right now. Especially after we got 3 big Pokémon game within just a year.
