OK; here's my bingo for this Direct, whenever it comes and in whatever form it takes! I know it's early, but I was in the mood and so I went and did it :D

Okey... and that means...anything?

"Content acquisition, partner management and portfolio strategy for 3rd party at Nintendo of America."

As for what it means... I have no idea. Maybe he's just meeting with a lot of people?? Be it from Nintendo or third-parties?

All of these representative pictures are hilarious omg

Koizumi reading the Direct script from the teleprompter and casually says out loud to the filming crew: so that was another Direct without EPD Tokyo game? Oh man, they really think my team is doing nothing. Fuck

not sure if you're just shitposting but nah, today's february 2nd reveal rules it out. that would've been a shadowdrop for sure
What actually does it rule out? It would still not be a part of headlines. Life is Strange is just too big to be a shadowdrop. Not sure how would Square felt if it was announced and out now situation. Either way, it does not rule out that date.

I definitely don't think life is strange is too big for a shadowdrop, especially when it's a port. being a shadowdrop is actually a nice position for some games.

be honest, are you just trying to get pages? I thought you gave up on that when you were shutting down team january early on

Is it too early to start the "the January 2023 direct was canceled hence all these announcements happening today" conspiracy theories?

Trying to get pages? If that was the case, I would respond to every single message that's there. Yikes.

Last year, the direct was on the 9th and a demo for Triangle Strategy was released.
Team Asano’s demos has always been released at least 4-3 weeks before the game.
Octopath 2 will come out on the 24th.
Imho, February 1st will be the day of the direct.

So, out of curiosity, what happens if we get a Direct that is simultaneously on January 31st and on February 1st due to Time Zone Shenanigans? Do both parties win? Do both parties lose? Do we all join the Nintendo collective hive mind?
Actually, they never done that and I don't think they will do that. Can create a lot of confusin when in US it aired in January and in Japan it would be February. However, they can announce it in January and air it in February. That happened plenty of times actually.

In such a case, Legend says Team January and Team February will combine and usher in a new golden age of Famiboards.

Can someone search the last 5 years of the direct Air dates in Jan/Feb so we can try to foresee It? I'm busy right now but I can do this later...

That makes sense, but still the chaos on this thread would have been pretty funny

That's a fair point but IMHO I don't think that the fact that the demo comes out two or three weeks before the game is going to change a lot of things. If the Direct takes place on February 8, I think it's not a problem.

So I've been thinking about Pikmin 4, as one does, and I've come to the conclusion that it's going to be multiplayer-focussed. Or at least contains a multiplayer aspect.

You see, Olimar and the Pikmin are small when you're playing to give a sense of smallness. But Miyamoto specifically mentioned a new camera angle for this new entry. Olimar and Pikmin are way more visible here to give a sense of how big the creatures are in comparison.

But think about it. Doesn't this open up possibilites for 4-player split screen? Pikmin 3 was limited to 2 players, because the visibility would be too terrible otherwise. This new camera angle is perfect for multiplayer splitscreen in comparison.

Could you imagine? 4 captains landing on an unexplored (maybe randomly generated) part of PNF-404, given 5 days to gather as much fruit as possible. Maybe throw in a big boss fight for the final day. Or how about bingo battle? No reason to leave that behind in 3, where it was as unaccessible as possible (online would be so nice)

Anyways, is this plausible? Or did they really only change the camera angle for the perspective?

I haven’t played a Pikmin title since the first game +20 years ago lol.

But can’t they change the formula to be more similar to Monster Hunter? A co-op more action focused game with exploration and quests. It also features a single player campaign.

To be fair Pikmin 3 is a far better game than the first i did not like the first but really really liked 3

it's weird how many of the switch's holidays have been carried by pretty much just pokemon. animal crossing was delayed out of holiday 2019, covid happened and we got nothing in 2020, pokemon was probably always the planned holiday title for 2021 and totk got delayed out of holiday 2022. we got mario odyssey and smash ultimate the first couple years but 2019-2022 was pretty much just pokemon (and ig Luigi's Mansion 3)

I'd be super curious to see what the plan was with Pokemon over the last several years. I still can't believe that in roughly a year they put out BD/SP, Arceus, and Scarlet/Violet. I have to imagine they wouldn't liked those to be spread out a bit more...but it's hard to tell what the plan was. Something like BD/SP was supposed to be a spring game, then Arceus a holiday title (was delayed until late January), and Scarlet/Violet a year after? IDK. They all sold like crazy but I imagine it wasn't ideal.

I think Pikmin 4 would work well as a 4 player co-op multiplayer title, but I feel like it could only work if it's one player, maybe two, per screen. Even at altered angles, there's a lot going on to manage and I think if the view is shrunk too much on a single TV screen you'll lose far too many details in hazards and enemies.
