Do you guys think we are getting Galaxy 2?

Are there any theories about why it wasnt included in the 3d collection?
Why should we get Galaxy 2 now when they even didn't include it in the first place?

I have no idea why it wasn't included, maybe because they wanted to sell it as a "trilogy" with every type of game represented evenly.

Triangle Strategy's final demo came out 23 days before release, and Live A Live's was 24 days before release. The demo for the original Octopath Traveler was just under a month. Assuming Octopath Traveler 2 gets a demo, I'd assume we should be expecting it to be announced in a direct approx 3-4 weeks before the full game releases.

So, since Octopath 2 comes out February 24th, my prediction is that the direct will be on Tuesday the 31st or Wednesday the 1st. (y)
Yeah! I wanted to "counter" Raccoon's Splatoon's Direct Timing Theory with Team Asano's demo history back when he made his post a few(?) days ago ahah.

But then again, circumstances around OT II's launch are a little different, given that it is not being published by Nintendo outside of Japan and is a multiplat release from Day 1. Nevertheless! the game WAS announced in a Direct and IS (also) being advertised by Nintendo, so I too am banking on it appearing in the next Direct and having a demo shadowdropped after the presentation.

That's probably why I'm leaning more towards a first half of February direct.

Edit: forgot to mention BD II's demo was announced via a tweet, (that's why I didn't bring it up), I guess timing just didn't work out back then

I wonder when we're seeing Playtonic's next game, AFAIK it's supposedly a 3D sequel to Yooka-Laylee and I'm very excited and interested to see what they've learned and hopefully the second 3D game is better. I already loved Yooka-Laylee but there's definitely some flaws

Another thing is that Super Nintendo World opens on February 17th. Not that it's so much relevant but I am rulling that week probably (or will Miyamoto show up and say that it opens in few days?). Week after that is release of Kirby.

The first or second week makes the most sense. Splatoon season announcement and maybe OT2 demo makes it even more likely.

Its such a shame that game is stranded on the wii/u. I thought galaxy 1 played great with gyro controls on a pro controllee

I'm sure this is being picked over with a fine-toothed comb in the hardware thread, but here's a quote from Digital Foundry on hardware timing:

Timescales? 2023 is looking unlikely, unfortunately. From a commercial perspective, there are two ways of looking at this. According to Gamesindustry.biz's Chris Dring, Switch was the best-selling console in the UK in 2022 - which is quite a feat. Assuming similar success elsewhere, the business case for a replacement this year may not be compelling to Nintendo. On the flip-side, sales are actually down 25 percent year-on-year. The system has clearly peaked, and we're now in a period of managed decline. Our guess, based on gut feeling and no firm intel whatsoever? An announcement towards the end of the year and perhaps a release in Q1 2024. Regardless, we can't wait to see it: Nvidia's Ampere technology may be two-years-old but it's still phenomenal, a massive improvement over Tegra X1. Combined with Nintendo's unparalleled game design, it should be an astonishing reveal.
And just to emphasise:
Our guess, based on gut feeling and no firm intel whatsoever?

Even Digital Foundry, who seem to have some knowledge of what's going on with a successor, are completely guessing at the timescale for launch. It's not just us speculation nerds freaking out because we can't predict software timing properly when we don't know the hardware picture! Huzzah!

This has been covered a lot in the Hardware thread but I always feel compelled to bring it up when the insinuation is made: the way hardware development and manufacturing works, Nintendo cannot wait for "compelling timing" like a dropoff in sales or whatever before releasing this thing. If Switch sales do really well they can't just go "ope, hang on, let's hold off on releasing this for a year and keep squeezing the current platform" because the amount of different contracts and timelines that have to come together in order to build a system can't just chill while waiting for sales to decline.

That's not directed at you, @MisterSpo, rather at how that quote of "Assuming similar success elsewhere, the business case for a replacement this year may not be compelling to Nintendo" hits my ears.

I mean uuuhhhh shitpost shitpost Chrono Trigger the Hedgehog gotta go fast yall nnyyyeeeerrroooommmmm

Yeah agreed, I think DF's logic there is spotty - not least because continual decline for Switch means continual decline for Nintendo's revenue stream, which Switch represent the vast majority of. New hardware before decline settles in further protects Nintendo's bottom line, which is what they care about, ultimately.

Those cowards have to release an HD-2D Chrono Trigger eventually, right?

...... right?
Hell I'd take the OG version even but yes.

Sure, after they released Terranigma HD-2D.
Ooh yes to this too.
They could even release them at the same time as a stunt, pit them against each other like "greatest SNES RPG according to North America VS greatest SNES RPG according to Europe, GO"

Seriously, it makes no sense for the Switch of all consoles to not have Chrono Trigger. Even Android and Apple have it. There must be a reason they're holding out on Switch.

I don't expect any other remakes to be announced until after DQ3 though, at the earliest. 😞

You know, I’d be more than happy -actually that would make me cry- to see a « COLLECTION of GAIA » trilogy like they did with the Mana games & Final Fantasy SaGa. A full on HD-2D remake would be just incredible.

I’ve been replaying the Trials of Mana remake on my Steam Deck and I’m still very happy with it ; it feels so good and the improvements are welcome.

Nintendo just emailed me asking if I remember playing Super Mario Odyssey...??

Gonna email them back "Remember when EPD 8 released games??"
When EPD Tokyo is going to reveal their new game(s) they should give us at least notice 7 days in advance. The presentation titled "EPD Tokyo was cooking" dedicated directly to the whole team development since 2017.

Yesyesyes. I actually thought a Collection of Gaia could happen but then when they just straight-up remade Act Raiser I started Wonder if they're just gonna remake everything instead of doing collections. I dunno. An HD-2D remake could give Terranigma the same awareness bump that Live A Live got, so that would make sense, abd then releasing the original along with Soul Blazer and Illusion of Gaia as a 3-pack would be good promotion for it? Kinda like the Trials of Mana remake alongside Collection of Mana. It could work!!

I assumed they had something up their sleeve for the 25th anniversary but that was.. covid year. 😅 Now we're three years past the start of covid and still nothing so that wasn't the problem. Now I'm actually pretty convinced they're doing an HD-2D version. I mean even Chrono Cross is on Switch now. Who woulda expected them to release Cross first?

Doug Bowser just called me and said that if you want your Nintendo direct announced, you need to make this thread reach 264 pages then close it as soon as it hits 264.

So weird

As I sit in the hospital after having potential heart issues, I'm just glad this didn't happen to me. Still waiting on test results but doctor things it's more likely a muscle spasm then a heart issue based upon where I'm having pain.

at this point they really shouldn't talk about zelda until like april anyway
They shouldn't talk about it until the day it releases, and even then they should never acknowledge it afterwards. Just make it a total mystery before and after launch.
