It’s not just Nintendo, every online community is starting to rev up hype and speculation about the year. That’s pretty natural given that 2023 has begun in earnest now and the holidays are over; doesn’t seem unusual at all to me. I think Nintendo Directs just get the bulk of the coverage and attention because they’re the most prominent and most popular way these presentations tend to happen.

The franchise is in this weird state of flux, right now with the anime taking longer than usual to finish, the studio behind the anime loosing staff, other game studios coming to work on remakes, and the mainline games getting more and more ambitious while being under crunch. It feels like something is going to give at this point.

Possibly, but at this rate it's not gonna be bigger than an NSO N64 update, more likely the NSO Game Trial for North America/Europe as Japan just has Snipperclips announced as the game demo
