Since the symbol we've already seen bears some resemblance to old kanji for 'time':

Time to do some digging for kanji that could resemble this new symbol.

At the very least, I think it's another 'rune'.
From the same resource, I'm wondering if the other rune is an exceptionally stylized 見 to see (doesn't match the same time period however as the 時):
historye8a68b.jpg

Otherwise the three drops up top and the way the lower curves are drawn makes me think of a Shiekah eye (and perhaps the eye of Horus 𓂀 as well).

If that sky lady is a seer, which I think she is, maybe look for words associated with an eye or a vision. If you don't have luck, and you need ideas, try looking at words such as:
-Tear(s)
-Sight
-Vision
-Future
-Past

Good luck.

We're getting somewhere. It makes sense if they modified the kanji 'to see' and made it resemble an eye, while also resembling the horus eye. And if it represents a new rune - well, what ability has the Zelda series had in the past related to ancient civilizations, sight, and spirits that also uses an eye symbol?

Just a guess. 😉

I looked at the kanji symbol for 'future' and apparently the same symbol is used for 'previous'. It looks similar to the symbol for 'see'. So the symbol could mean a few things, I'll look at more words later. It does seem like words associated with an eye have been a good start.

If the old kanji for time is used for the rune bringing objects back in time to their original position, maybe the other symbol could potentially be used for when you go through the ground like a liquid. Perhaps maybe it is something regarding transition or going through? If it is the latter, then together the two old kanji would be put together to be "going through time" lol just a suggestion but understand that it could be a wild goose chase

I don't know if this is real but I'm hiding it just in case:
/SPOILER]

People in the reddit comments are butchering its legitimacy. But the text/description seems too generic to me and the promo looks like somethting someone spent an hour on. It might be someone hopping on the TotK leak wagon today and hoping to get a pass.

I don't think this one is real.

I vote fake, but I would be thrilled to have some sort of shared online experience to it. At this point I’m eager to hear anything that’s not just “Breath of the Wild with sky islands” which is all we’ve got right now

Maybe they had to take a quick pic as to not to get caught
It looks like this person was in the middle of playing Pokémon before they decided to take those photos so I doubt they were in a rush to do anything more important. Whoever would catch this person for taking those photos should also catch them for playing Pokémon, since I can’t imagine any is ever “suppose” to be playing Pokémon.

With the photos of the box art being in such low resolution and the ability to easily print out box art and even create controllers to some extent, I’m inclined to believe this is fake. If I’m breaking an NDA I’m going all in. Who has a phone, assuming that’s what they used to take the pictures with, with such a crappy camera? They were allowed to hold the controllers for a close up, but not the dock? While I have read some plausible explanations for it being real, i’m sticking with my first impression that it’s fake because there really isn’t anything that interesting or new graphics besides a small crest. Also that left controller seems off to me, I think it’s the green color that looks incorrect.

As a native Italian speaker, the "tone" of the language is what you'd expect from official promotional material.

Still, it's very easy to fake. Who knows.

“Casali Rigeneratori” sounds so bad that it might be real. I don’t actually think it’s real, I’m just saying that the Italian translation of Nintendo games is so trash that if I had to make a fake one, I’d actively try to make it sound horrible to the ears.

(My verdict: not real, but nice try. If I’m wrong I’ll be eating crow in my Casale Rigeneratore in the Tuscan countryside)

Perhaps they made the TotK OLED Special Edition this bland for a reason: The TotK Special Edition for the Switch 2 will be the cool one and everyone will want to buy into the new system.

I just booted up BotW after not playing it for about 2 years. Game still holds up incredibly well. I thought I preferred Elden Ring but I think I still like this game more. Everything just feels more tactile and alive.

It's gonna be awesome to re-discover Hyrule in TotK, I'm so giddy!

Ironically it's the TotK OLED edition that makes me believe even more in this being a fake. The designs on this ad that try to mimic the sky island and zen garden patterns don't match up with the actual key art and website at all, while the ones on the TotK OLED too. I'd say this looks downright amateurish in comparison. I don't know, maybe I'm expecting too much from a potential Gamestop ad.

Any luck on the 2nd rune? It's a made up written language, so the 2nd rune might not have a direct or a close translation. We might have to settle on "see" or "future" or "previous" if we can't find anything else.

民 - 'nation, people'

It is an interesting symbol:

The origin of the kanji 民 was closely related an eye and I could have discussed this kanji more than a year ago when we looked at “eye” in five posts. The two bronze ware writings, in green, had an eye at the top and a needle piercing an eye to make one blind. It signified that people without ability to see things would follow the order of their ruler blindly.

This website actually has an entire series of blog posts about kanji that have eyes in them ! So that's a good starting point. :)

We’re finally on 2023 in Europe, the year I hope Nintendo will make me hyped for Zelda again after one very exciting and intriguing first reveal and two subsequent subpar (to me) teasers.

My hope is that they’re hiding a great deal of the game so they can blow our minds away near release, but the price of this strategy is that this is the first console Zelda game that I’m ambivalent and not counting the days until release or getting unsolicited recurrent dreams about the games, and that happened every time for me since the announcement of “Zelda V” for Project Reality in the early to mid 90s.

Aonuma-san you better deliver m***** lol.

Your lucky I wish I could stop counting down the days, but it’s been 107 since title reveal which has gone by fast, once we get our trailer and we finally see some gameplay to give us more to talk about, it will go by even faster till about May 1st, then time will stand still for 12 days which will hurt.

Totally, the best part is that the time is somewhat running faster, but not so much because I had a hard time with the counting down for Xenoblade 3 and now I want to know more about the new adventure that we‘ll get later this year, and on top of that, all the Drake speculation and Metroid Prime HD eternal waiting are tiring…

I hope in a few weeks (no more than 8, probably), I can put my worries to rest and see a new big map (underground or an extension on the north/east/south of the current map, and not just the floating islands that for some reason doesn’t make my exploration urge to freak out like the original Hyrule map did when Miyamoto and Aonuma showed that preliminar gameplay on the Game Awards. Even if some of the islands will end up being reasonably big, it doesn’t make the same impact or feeling of getting lost or uncover secrets because the nature of the terrain being so delimited and isolated in the air.

I feel that the floating islands can work for some trials / main shrines or a way to obtain more powers or advance the story, but otherwise they could be a bit linear like if they‘d do several “Great Plateau“ interconnected with the old map ala Skyloft and Hyrule on SS, or the TP and WW map structure.

maybe I’m overthinking lol I need to forget about this game until they unveil the whole thing, damnit!

I have to be honest.
Casali Rigeneratori is a so weird name that could be real. (Casale is something like country house for farmer)

Wanted to play this in 4K/60 and now I'm just hoping it's at least as stable as the first game which was 900p and sometimes 30fps. Bummer but I'm still hoping the game itself delivers something great. I guess I can always replay the game in 4K/60 in a few years when we get that $70 Remastered Switch 2 edition.

If it's real then we will see the promo appear soon, but I think it's fake because it just seems like it's too low quality.

Not sure if anyone brought this up but on the ToTK website the symbols that we saw on the stone when Link goes up to the sky are also presented on the website, directly below the tears symbols. This pretty much confirms to me that OLED is real as I had no doubts previously. Tears on the right Joy-Con and these symbols on the left Joy-Con as on the website, they are together.

I will most likely get that Switch. Not letting any Zelda-items escape my grasp~

I wonder when the'll reveal it. Direct..? Randomly..?

Not that I doubt it's legit, but how does that prove anything? The faker could have sourced the pattern from the website, that's where I would get graphics from if I was making something like that.

Yeah, they could. We will find out soon enough, for me still very high effort to be fake but anything can happen.

I can do this later if nobody else does it, but someone could chuck the Zonai letters on the bottom dragon/serpent into that translator somebody posted some pages back. The letters on the top dragon/serpent have too much glare in the photos that person took.

If someone does this and gets some word or message that seems like it is relevant in the context of a serpent/dragon then that would help to see if this TotK OLED is legit. Not that the translator that person is working on is flawless or complete, but we got nothing to lose.

Edit: I'll do it....ok I have no sweet clue what I'm doing really, but studying for an hour and using that translation work Serif provided: "Protected from disaster a floating sage lands". This is very, very likely wrong.

Switchforce has a decent video debunking the box art and how you can see line breaks in red at the top of the front of the box. Also on the left side the lines are not even straight. It was a lot effort but it seems to be fake. Also his video prior to this adds more to it being fake.

That looks promising, which specific photo are you referencing for the Zonai letters?

The text on the bottom dragon/serpent in the leaked OLED photos. The text is faded in the September 2022 trailer, but it's complete (but the last letter is still blurry) in the leaked TotK OLED. The text on the top dragon cannot be seen (glare).

I am very unsure of "lands", since like I said, that letter is very blurry, so it's a guess. I am a bit more confident in "disaster", "floating", and "sage". I am biased with the translation of "sage", but I used that over another possible meaning because Zelda loves sages.

I'll say, if this is fake, then it likely wasn't just one person who made this fake.

This feels really grasping on Switch Forces end. If the top is red, than it may just be somewhat bent near the top. It's cardboard so it's not gonna maintain a perfect crease.

I'm glad he pointed out some manufacturing flaws. I actually am now ever so slightly more skeptical about the legitimacy of the leak, however I went to see if what SwitchForce claimed was true. He said that the Splatoon and S&V boxes were more tightly wrapped. After 1 minute of searching, I found definite red bleed-over on an S&V OLED box in the first few seconds of this video.

After a few minutes of searching you can also see red bleed-over for the Splatoon 3 box:

I'm not trying to keep away the idea that this thing is fake, but so far I still think this is likely real. I'll look the other defect SwitchForce pointed out later. What keeps me from believing this thing is very likely real is the lack of a dock photo. I mean, I don't believe this person was in any kind of rush to take the photos of the box and joycons, seeing how they were playing Pokemon. It seems like they certainly could've taken 8 more seconds to get a photo of the dock, so that's sus.

Edit: I'll add another detail that makes this a next level fake if it's fake. The bottom 1/4 of the box shows the grooves of the cardboard. So either next level photoshop, or they got a small roller and rolled the printed/fake art over a box until it wore down enough so that cardboard grooves could be visible. That's a very fine detail to fake and getting it right is tough.

Edit2: These grooves can be seen on other OLED boxes with bright light I.e. cell phone camera light, so...props to this person or group of people if this is fake.

I went back to that doc, looks like they translated the 'hare' symbol as 'うく' "to float", so I see where you got floating from. He didn't provide a possible character for the first symbol though, so I'm excluding it, so "Sa Uku Ku Te Tsu No" さうくくてつの so far. With no understanding of Japanese this seems tough without that first symbol possibly giving more context.

I wouldn’t argue your point on grasping by Switchforce on these points but it’s just two more smaller details that just don’t quite look right, combined with some other small details, like the quality of photos, no dock picture but controller pictures and that left controller with that color green and design. It Just kind of looks too amateur in my opinion, perhaps I was expecting more and I am biased, but it just looks like something that a laymen would buy from Alibaba by mistake thinking it’s real.
