Playing around with the Expansion Pak titles and was really surprised that Mario Kart 64 was still fun. Loved it as a kid but expected it to be nearly unplayable these days. I enjoyed myself

I think the lack of Prime HD probably just comes down to a lack of news to share about Prime 4. They seem unwilling to do the "sorry folks, no news to share at this time" thing twice in a row: Aonuma did it for Skyward Sword, then showed BOTW2 TotK the following time he was around. I'm guessing they want to do the same thing for Metroid. Which is unfortunate, because I don't mind waiting for 4, just give me 1!

Catching up to the TGS streams, and you know Atelier make it big when even the producer of Wo Long is imitating Ryza introduction from the atelier stream in their own lol

Hey, all you coobers forgot to buy your favorite Little Box of Joy a drink for their 21st birthday on the 14th 🥂🍻

Edit: crazy crackpot theory time:
What if they didn’t announce WW HD / Prime HD / F-Zero GX HD because they’re holding them for something to coincide with GC NA release anniversary in November?

I think I may get back into Overwatch when 2 comes out. I just realized that they are doing cross progression. So conceivably, I can just download Overwatch 2 on my Switch since it's F2P and connect it to my existing Overwatch account on PC. I could then play the PC version while at my apartment and bring the Switch version when I'm out visiting family or friends.

Fuck grinding out stupid battle passes though. I would just play casually.

That's Pokemon's release day. Imo if either the Wii U Zeldas or Prime Remasters are still coming this year, they need to be Tweeted out next week - the only possible explanation if dates haven't changed is that they got kicked out of the Direct so Nintendo could do TGS obligations, and if they aren't announced as soon as TGS is over then that just tells me that they never planned anything for it (if they exist).

I didn't forget. My Gamecube died long ago, so I just poured one out in its memory.

Making NPCs is tough when it takes like 30 minutes for my dinky ass laptop to even load in all their textures.

Got Trackmania Turbo on sale, and now I am addicted.

I can now check "see Al Yankovic perform Albuquerque live" off my bucket list.

Holy shit.
I had the pleasure of seeing him the summer of 2019. Earlier in the tour he did Jurassic Park entirely in Japanese, but even the Toronto show was fun as hell. He ends the set with The Saga Begins (and an entire cast of Star Wars characters in full costume coming out to join the chorus), and Yoda (during the audience singalong part, he yells out "do it BETTER!")

Fuck, I love Weird Al. Can't wait to see the movie.

I poured a shot of tequila in the disc slot but I don't think it appreciated it much 🙃

I would be absolutely stoked for a mini Direct in November celebrating the gamecube minidiscs, followed by games being ported/announced.

Or they’re never coming out :insert trollface here:

AHHHH SHIT BEAR AND BREAKFAST FINALLY RELEASED YESTERDAY AND I'M DOWNLOADING IT NOW AHHHHHH

I have a very strong feeling that we're not getting a Direct until March next year. January has Fire Emblem, February has Kirby, and then I doubt there's anything major in March/April except for DLC and maybe Everybody's 1-2 Switch. The Switch Pro (or 4K model) will be announced on the Switch anniversary and launch with TOTK.

Don't they always have something in March to close out the FY? Like, something relatively major?

Yes, but what can they announce and release during that time? The only thing I can think of is Everybody's 1-2 Switch. Anything else would have been in the Direct. DLC for Mario Kart and maybe Splatoon 3 could also work.

Advance wars is probably a random Twitter drop between here and the end of the financial year. Remakes aren’t off the table either

Yeah, I always see people say, "Mario Kart 64 hasn't aged that well". And there's some truth to that.

But I played it a week ago on NSO, and I was having a ton of fun with it. Battle mode is still great. 🤷‍♀️

I doubt they're going to release Advance Wars close to the one year anniversary of the war. And any remakes would have been in this Direct. A Twitter announcement makes no sense.

They've had a game every March, bar March 2021, when Monster Hunter Rise effectively took the spot Nintendo normally use. 2018 and 2022 had Kirby, 2019 had Yoshi, 2017 was Zelda and 2020 was Animal Crossing. On that evidence, Nintendo are just as happy slotting a middle tier release (Kirby/Yoshi) in March as they are using it for a major game (Zelda/AC).

I am suspicious that it's empty right now, and it's not as if we can point to a third-party game taking the spot, with Octopath 2 being multi-format and February (even though the bulk of sales will presumably be on Switch).

Eh, they could easily announce something on twitter or have another Direct. They've had November and December Directs before IIRC.

Hell, it could even be announced in January or February, 1-2 months is plenty of lead-in time these days for most games.

March might just see them dump a bunch of stuff onto NSO. Add GameBoy and perhaps GBA, as well as a new 99 game and another Mario Kart wave to keep people subscribed.

The other options would be something from EPD 4 announced on social media, or perhaps something announced at TGA. Nintendo still keep some sort of presence at TGA, and the timing (December) would work out OK for a March game. At this point, after the slightly mad summer marketing and the weird mix of things they're promoting in Directs, I wouldn't really be surprised if they throw further curve balls.

That's not the current normal though. Nintendo hasn't done a winter Direct in a long time, and the only game they've announced on Twitter since 2020 was a Kirby e-shop game. I don't think we should expect anything major for March or April.

Can't decide whether to get two game vouchers (£84) for Splatoon 3 and an undetermined game, plus 400 gold points back; or to pay £49.99 for Splatoon 3, take the 500 gold points while the double points offer is available, and then use my 790 total points to get Pikmin 3 DX for roughly £25 (currently discounted to £33).

Hurrrrm

Then get Splatoon 3. You'll love it! Not having the second one will make this experience a whole lot more fresh for you.

I have $100 dollar Amazon gift card I won and I will prob use it towards splatoon 3. Mario kart online is getting kind of stale even with the new courses added. This might be my new online game I can play for a few short bursts.

My major issue with Mario Kart 64 is lack of music in 3-4p multiplayer. Other than that I think it's great.

Pikmin 3 was quite enjoyable, I got it used at a game store and was quite surprised at how much fun I had to with it. Personally I didn’t think it would click with me but it did in the end.

Didn't get a job I interviewed for yesterday, so I'm going to continue work from home and then do Lair of the Shadow Broker before some form of 'take out', as my American friends call it, and the latest episode of Rings of Power.

Sigh I wish I could find a band(aka group of friends messing around) to just jam and do random rock, pop, video game and anime songs with and just mess around with and work on getting better with together. Well at the very least I should get back to practicing my Bass. I ordered a new stand that should be here next week and I’m going to try and get back to daily practice
