You say Call of Duty like is a good thing...
this is an actual good change. Hopefully we start seeing more qol online shit not just in splatoon 3 but in general.I'm sure this has been covered already but fuck yes
The I don't know what you want regarding the art direction. Something very different it seems. Not sure what to tell you.Yeah it looks a little different but, seriously though, 5 maps looking a bit more run down than the other… 7 maps does not make for a ‘different look’ in my eyes.
You're saying timed like it automatically disqualifies the modes from existing. They're still there. And I actually like that they're timed, it turns them into events. They'll be permanently added once Splatfests go away.I watched the same Direct as you did lol
I’m just pointing out the absurdity of using a random card game mode to shut down people complaining that there are literally no new non-timed game modes for the main game. In terms of that, Splatoon 2 has 3 beat by a country mile seeing as it introduced a (relatively) big new co-op mode into the mix.
And, I mean, there’s 5 new maps, 2 new weapon types, and a few new specials. On the co-op side there’s likely one or two small, identical-looking new maps, and a few new bosses. The bulk of this game’s content is old, unchanged, content, something not true of even CoD games.
Good thing Splatoon is 10 times more interesting and fun than CoD could dream of being. And actually has an engaging world, story, and characters! You say Call of Duty like is a good thing...
If only we could explore that world, story and characters.Good thing Splatoon is 10 times more interesting and fun than CoD could dream of being. And actually has an engaging world, story, and characters!
Also Clam Blitz wasn't added till months after the game's launch, so I wouldn't agree that 2 somehow introduced more content at launchYou're saying timed like it automatically disqualifies the modes from existing. If anyone unironically feels this way, then please, go outside. Take in the fresh air. Call a friend or loved one. Spend time enjoying yourself and your time.Yeah well every major Nintendo title should appeal to every large and niche Nintendo franchise fandoms is the sentiment I’ve gathered online over the years
ok that one was heavy lmaoIf we could only explore that world, story and characters.
I genuinely don't get what people want from this. Most of the complaints don't make sense to me. Why do people want some giant single player mode in a MULTIPLAYER game? Why are people saying there's no changes to the gameplay when there's a ton (new specials, movement, and weapons)? Why are people saying there's no new modes when we have the card game, 3 team battles, and Salmon Run invasion? Of course it looks like Splatoon 2, just like each COD plays like the last. If they changed the gameplay people would be pissed. It feels like some of y'all want a completely different game.
I wanted it to look different, because right now it looks really similar in almost every area. If I play the game and I’m using Splatoon 2 weapons on a Splatoon 2 map with an outfit from Splatoon 2, then - aesthetically - I’m playing Splatoon 2.The I don't know what you want regarding the art direction. Something very different it seems. Not sure what to tell you.
The next city could take place at the city dump, but it will still be colorful and look like a cool place to hang out in. Cause that is Splatoon.
I don’t like timed content, cause people have families, jobs, and schedules that may not work around the game’s arbitrary schedule. That and, really, Splatfests should be fun little diversions to increase player count - not the only way to access any meaningful new modes in the game you’ve paid £50 for. You're saying timed like it automatically disqualifies the modes from existing. They're still there. And I actually like that they're timed, it turns them into events. They'll be permanently added once Splatfests go away.
What are you talking about lolAlso Clam Blitz wasn't added till months after the game's launch, so I wouldn't agree that 2 somehow introduced more content at launch
When people say they won't buy Splatoon 3 because of a lack of in-depth singleplayer
I'm people
This is the greatest advice to tell people that frequent forumsit may be better to just...disengage and talk about the stuff you do like instead.
Unironically I do, but that's life, not every Nintendo game will suit my tastes. I'll forgive Nintendo for this personal slight if they announce a new Donkey Kong.I genuinely don't get what people want from this. Most of the complaints don't make sense to me. Then you can simply play the next time it's on. Splatfests happen like once every month or two lol, and they last for days. And once again, they'll be added permanently in time.I wanted it to look different, because right now it looks really similar in almost every area. If I play the game and I’m using Splatoon 2 weapons on a Splatoon 2 map with an outfit from Splatoon 2, then - aesthetically - I’m playing Splatoon 2.

What are you talking about lol
Splatoon 2 introduced a radically new co-op mode to the game. One that, whilst time limited, could be played regularly. Splatoon 3 introduces nothing like that.
It was an addendum about the first non-timed mode to be introduced in Splatoon 2 not being at launch, since that was a sticking point of discussionI wanted it to look different, because right now it looks really similar in almost every area. If I play the game and I’m using Splatoon 2 weapons on a Splatoon 2 map with an outfit from Splatoon 2, then - aesthetically - I’m playing Splatoon 2.

Such a bizarre thing to write; if the reviews are good it is because the game is good.Reviews shouldn't be kind.
The difference between CoD and Splatoon is that Splatoon isn't jumping through different eras. Five years in real time equates five years in the Splatoon world so it shouldn't be too surprising things don't change as drastically as you see between WW2 and modern day warfare.No.
I used CoD as an example to show that, no, you don’t need to change a franchise’s entire identity to change how it looks and ‘feels’. Even in Splatoon itself, with the Octo Expansion, they’ve managed to create something that feels wholly unique whilst still feeling like it’s ‘Splatoon.’ They could have done that here but they decided to very slightly iterate on the exact same aesthetic they’ve had for 2 games now.
I see you're going back to your old "Some people disagree with me so I'll generalize the whole fandom" shtick.Splatoon fans: “What do people WANT? Do they want the games to randomly turn into an RTS mode or something? Splatoon is a multiplayer shooter. Get used to it!”
Also Splatoon fans: “This card game they’ve randomly thrown in means people can’t complain about the lack of new multiplayer shooter content.”
Oh lol okay, that makes more senseSorry I forgot to add the /s at first
“Just play it the next time Nintendo lets you” isn’t the glowing endorsement of timed content that you think it is.Then you can simply play the next time it's on. Splatfests happen like once every month or two lol, and they last for days. And once again, they'll be added permanently in time.
Either way, if Splatoon 3 does introduce a new non-timed mode somewhere down the line, it will have still introduced fewer non-timed modes than 2.It was an addendum about the first non-timed mode to be introduced, since that was a sticking point of discussion
How so? Splatoon 2 only added Clam Blitz in December 2017. If Splatoon 3 adds one within the first 6 months, it will be exactly the same amount of introduced non-timed modes (excluding the card mode, since it isn't co-op).Either way, if Splatoon 3 does introduce a new non-timed mode somewhere down the line, it will have still introduced fewer non-timed modes than 2.
Then complain about it being timed. Don't say there's no new modes when there is. Just because you don't like the format doesn't mean they're not there.“Just play it the next time Nintendo lets you” isn’t the glowing endorsement of timed content that you think it is.
As for it being added permanently… even if it is, that’s in 2 bloody years lol.
Either way, if Splatoon 3 does introduce a new non-timed mode somewhere down the line, it will have still introduced fewer non-timed modes than 2.
Xenoblade DLC comes outI just realize something. Splatfest right before BOTW 2 comes out.
Link, Zelda, Ganon
or
Courage, Wisdom, Power
It's so perfect so it's definitely not gonna happen.
What? Splatoon is a series where a magical ethereal subway train filled with anthropomorphic blob fish can be randomly added in a DLC. Where GameCubes float in the sky like it’s nothing. Where characters can dress like Tupac and Biggie for no reason. Compared to CoD which has to at least try and adhere to real-life, Splatoon has hella artistic liberty. The difference between CoD and Splatoon is that Splatoon isn't jumping through different eras. Five years in real time equates five years in the Splatoon world so it shouldn't be too surprising things don't change as drastically as you see between WW2 and modern day warfare.
Ah yes, cause it’s not like people aren’t generalising people disappointed with the game as “multiplayer haters who will never be pleased.”I see you're going back to your old "Some people disagree with me so I'll generalize the whole fandom" shtick.
There are no references to having separate ranks for each mode anymore. I think there's only one.It means my goal of getting all X in a Splatoon game is once again out of reach. Splatoon 3 dropping Clam Blitz and me mainlining the three basic modes before a fourth can be released in an update down the road was my only hope.
I’ve literally used the disclaimer “non-timed” in between every instance of me using the words “no new” and “game modes.” If you wanna sit there and claim that game modes which come in for two days once a month. - at best - are the same as permanent game modes available in the game at launch, then that’s on you. But they aren’t, and it’s frankly silly to suggest otherwise. Then complain about it being timed. Don't say there's no new modes when there is. Salmon Run is timed. Salmon Run????????
They are to me. Maybe that makes me dumb or something, but I really don't care. They're still in the game. Devs still worked on them. People can still play them. They're still new modes whether you like them or not. So that's three new modes in this game.I’ve literally used the disclaimer “non-timed” in between every instance of me using the words “no new” and “game modes.” If you wanna sit there and claim that game modes which come in for two days once a month. - at best - are the same as permanent game modes available in the game at launch, then that’s on you. No testfire announcement was disappointing.
Didn’t get to watch the direct
And social media. This is the greatest advice to tell people that frequent forums
Okay that is funnyThen why would you think you know whether or not there was one announced

Splatoon 2 introduced a radically new co-op mode to the game. One that, whilst time limited, could be played regularly. Splatoon 3 introduces nothing like that.
Your complaint was why Splatoon doesn't have as many aesthetic changes as you see in CoD games depicting WW2 and modern day warfare and I gave you the answer. Splatoon isn't jumping around different eras, it's all a linear timeline which means there won't be any drastic changes like you see in weapon and armor designs between WW2 and today. Instead the changes in Splatoon are more subtle such as the evolution of the various in-game "bands" where you see members change and create new groups which signify the changing times. What? Splatoon is a series where a magical ethereal subway train filled with anthropomorphic blob fish can be randomly added in a DLC. Where GameCubes float in the sky like it’s nothing. That and, frankly, if something is ‘unsurprising’ then that is a negative lol. Salmon Run literally looking identical to the past game, and over half of the maps being direct rips of previous ones, may be ‘unsurprising’ lore-wise, but it’s not fun at all.
I mean when most complaints are about how Nintendo isn't showcasing the single player campaign or making any drastic changes to it then it does seem like most people are unhappy about how multiplayer-focused Splatoon is.Ah yes, cause it’s not like people aren’t generalising people disappointed with the game as “multiplayer haters who will never be pleased.”
Sure, I'll agree to that; but you could say the same thing about Splatoon 2 which initially launched with only the original three Ranked modes from OG Splatoon. Clam Blitz was introduced months later and Salmon Run apparently doesn't count since you're excluding timed modes.Though I suppose this means you agree that Splatoon 3 doesn’t have any new non-timed shooter modes?
No problem. Was not able to watch the direct live and only got my info from this thread and wario64 and didn’t see much buzz initially about the demoNo worries, sorry for singling you out
This is just being pedantic; Salmon Run was timed, but it was very regular with ample opportunities to play. Splatfests (of which only half is new) and infrequent Salmon Run events are… not that. They’re diversions for people who have the ability and desire to play the game on certain days and times.Salmon run is timed. you specifically mentioned the introduction of non-timed modes compared to Splatoon 2.
Dude we’re just trying to say that we’re not 100% hyped about the game without being shut down by ad hominen and fallacious arguments.I would encourage you all to avoid being bogged down in the specifics of this conversation
The people who feel that the game is inadequate will not be reasoned out of feeling that way
If you’re excited for them, great. You seem to be quite a big fan so I’ve got no doubt that you’ll catch most of the Splatfests and Salmon Run events. But in the context of people wanting more from Splatoon, modes which aren’t going to be played - or played regularly - by the vast majority of players, are not the same thing at all as permanent (or highly-regular) modes that can be played from Day One.They are to me. Maybe that makes me dumb or something, but I really don't care. They're still in the game. Devs still worked on them. People can still play them. They're still new modes whether you like them or not. So that's three new modes in this game.
The demo is a splatfest, so it's inherently done over internet.I hope that demo will let me test it on my internet but I’m not holding my breath
