I hate this so goddamned much
Glad I picked Violet. I hope Professor Sada still shows up though.

They already just straight-up confirmed the absence of level scaling in the games:Leaks which have seemingly been proven right from this trailer stategyms don't scale in level which disappoints me
As far as I know we don't even know if they will have the same difficulty.Thing is, how are they gonna make the gyms challenging if your first gym is as difficult as the 8th one? Scaling is really the only way to do that whilst still keeping the ‘choose your order’ freedom.
As for scaling in general; people tend to hate it when it’s done for everything at the same time. For instance, both Oblivion and Skyrim had level scaling, but people don’t criticise the latter’s scaling nearly as much as the former.
We specifically know that they won't.As far as I know we don't even know if they will have the same difficulty.

"There is no set path to the Gyms. You can purposefully seek out a stronger Gym Leader, or you can simply stop by a Gym that happens to be located in a town you came across on your journey. This time, you get to plot your very own path along Victory Road."
Yup, agree again.I honestly think that this is the most exciting thing about open world games. Getting into situations you cannot predict, maybe even outwitting the game or you fail and learn from it. But to each their own I guess.
Thank you for bringing this up so we don't have to keep using spoiler boxes, lol. They already just straight-up confirmed the absence of level scaling in the games:

my problem is that it trivializes the go-anywhere aspect. going left instead of right could mean I get an overly easy experience, especially if there's no obvious signposting of order. even a light scaling would be preferable

Great region design.I said god daaaaamn.... so beautiful
Cool, well if they’re going this route I hope they at least tune the difficulty enough to make things not too easy overall. As far as I know we don't even know if they will have the same difficulty.
edit: there it is... thanks @Xorhan
I have no technical knowledge whatsoever. All I know is that visually, the game looks like actual garbage.Did the resolution get a cut or is it just my eyes?

there is still a tiny sliver of hope that we get it in NovemberI have no technical knowledge whatsoever. All I know is that visually, the game looks like actual garbage.
I'm starting to become one of those people who go "oh my god we need a Switch Pro NOW"
I'd be more accepting if GF didn't make games piss easy alreadyI honestly think that this is the most exciting thing about open world games. Getting into situations you cannot predict, maybe even outwitting the game or you fail and learn from it. But to each their own I guess.
Xenoblade 3 just released. don't blame the hardware for Game Freak's technical failings. they'd fuck up DLSS somehowI have no technical knowledge whatsoever. All I know is that visually, the game looks like actual garbage.

Now I want MegáMonI mean, the gyms have turned into Mega Man now, right? You start with what your starter is good against, then what you caught along the way, etc
I think scaling would be kind of lame when the rock paper scissors can give the player both choice and risk/reward. Do I do the gym that's right next to me that I'm not really prepared for, or do I go to the one that's all the way over there that I am?
in old pokemons they made you do the gyms in orderwait a second
"the gyms have no set order"
"some gyms will be stronger than others"
how can both of those statements be true? sure, you can do them in any order, but there's a progression from easiest gym to hardest gym, that seems like a set order to me
Obviously they went from showing the Pro version to the OG switch versionDid the resolution get a cut or is it just my eyes?
You're allowed to challenge the harder ones to get your bottom handed to you lolwait a second

Before that they need to fix their ability to implement an art style in a game right.I'm starting to become one of those people who go "oh my god we need a Switch Pro NOW"
Neither confirmed nor deconfirmed. So where does this leave us on theprehistoric/futuristic pokmeon thing
I'm with you, constant mediocre iteration = diminishing returns in terms of enthusiasm for a lot of folks, myself included. still wanna play this thoughNot to be a downer, but for some reason I can not get excited for this iteration of Pokémon either. It looks like the Pokémon game I always wanted, and yet I feel nothing.
It does, however, look like they vastly improved and expanded on the formula introduced in SwSh, which I am happy to see regardless.
I hope that they’re at least in groups of difficulty so there isn’t such an obvious path between them. Though personally I think level-scaled gyms, with numerous high-level areas in various parts of the map, would have been the best choice here to begin with.I'm fine with the gyms being like Zelda 1 dungeons. You can be brash and challenge the toughest trainers immediately. Can offer some world-building if some characters have a reputation of being tough. I'll probably challenge the ones I have an immediate type advantage against, first.
Doesn’t look like it. The trailer started with a disclaimer saying that the VO and captions weren’t part of the game. That guy’s speech is likely gonna be a weird silent mime-fest just like the one at the beginning of S&S lolAlso, VA? I would like to call Suswave to see this lmao
truly do not understand cramming your game with tedious dialogue and not springing for a couple of voice actors. like, just for the cutscene-y parts, not everybody. that "concert" scene from swsh is still extremely funnyThat guy’s speech is likely gonna be a weird silent mime-fest just like the one at the beginning of S&S lol
I for one am glad they have no scalingHas there been official info about how the gyms work with levels and moves and so on if there is no level scaling?
In theory, they could define a level range players should have depending on how many gym badges they already have and just create 8 sets of Pokemon that are around those level ranges.
That would technically mean each gym would have a viable setup whatever order you feel like doing them, also it would technically no level scaling as these teams would always be around those proposed level ranges.
A better hardware wont suddenly make gf become a visual powerhouse lol. Its why those comments always bother me.
